As I enter this I'm watching a bunch of high school kids dance. I'm volunteering at a Valentine's day dance for LGBTQ youth in our area.    Let me just say that fluidity and grace are nowhere in sight. But spastic moves to the feel of the music are everywhere. 🤣   I think Jani's right. Just give and enjoy the music like these kids and you can't go wrong!

Some of the best dancing girls could be seen at Grateful Dead concerts, the hippy chicks could let loose like no other, there is a fluidity in that style. I like to emulate that, twirl like a girl, feel it and let go....   I have also had the fun to observe dancers from the stage as I'm jamming and moving my feet, it's a wonderful feeling to have the groove and their feet moving with you, gyrating bodies below you amazing....   One night we were playing a club in So Tacoma and these 3 girls come in immediately liven up place, one of the girls was like us and she was amazing, watching this T girl worship our lead singer, it was so much fun, and he was in denial....   C -

That tail fin on the vid is something Jani 😃 It's so basso nova....dig those bongos...   Tonight, I'm listening to Andres Vollenweider - Eolian Minstrel (1993), the harp playing master composer from Switzerland, and his female vocalist Eliza Gilkyson, so soothing.   C -

Julie is correct that there are many "average" dancers and that's fine.  I love to dance and I watched a younger cousin years ago to determine what I was doing wrong.  Get looser and let your body move through all its joints!  Get rid of the stiffness, loose the inhibitions, and feel the music.

Thanks for sharing Susan.  Sounds like a fun evening!   Yes time has a way of changing all manner of thoughts.   Jani

I am stabilized again. 170 lafter a heavy meat n potatoes meal last Monday lost 18 pounds. My jeans are loose again... Finally!   Geeez nearly four months to take off 20# that was gained in just one month...  Yikes   Y'all weren't chiding! One week to put it on...   Nearly 3 months get it back off...sheesh

I'll throw this out: less is more.

You're thinking of women dancers that you've noticed which means they're probably pretty good. But there are tons of women who just move a little.

I'd say that starting out your goal is to just not look like you've drank a quart of espresso. So, slow down, don't do too much and concentrate on torso/hip led movement, bent knees, and with your hands and arms at chest level or above.

Disclaimer: I'm NOT a good dancer, but I have reasonably decent observation skills. Just don't ask me to put my observations into practice!

Welcome @Kayla christine Self harm is very common among Trans people and for the reason you have mentioned, lack of acceptance by our families and communities of Cis (non-Trans) people.  Trans people are highly recognized by the scientific community as being almost super resilient to our situations and going ahead with our lives when we do find acceptance, that is one of the foundations of this web site, to overcome self harm by showing acceptance and some community.  I would like to suggest that you also make a post in the Introductions Forum so we can get to know you better.

Hi all, hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day.  I'm sitting here having my afternoon coffee and wanted to tell about yesterday. My wife and I had the best time.  Since being on this diet we have not gone out to eat much because frankly it's hard to find great tasting healthy food that fits into our current diet.  So most of the time she does the cooking here at home and then I do the cleaning. Well, this Valentine's Day, I drove down to our favorite restaurant and picked up a take out order of her favorite Pad Thai Chicken (which is hard for me to make it like she likes it), then when I got home I got all dressed up nicely as Susan and started cooking for her while wearing her girly apron.  I made a quick batch of my favorite Tom Ka Gai (Chicken Coconut Thai Soup) and reheated the Pad Thai.  She loved me cooking and doing it as Susan.  We sat down as two women and watched a few movies together while eating our Thai meal.  It's so amazing to me that my wife and I can experience this together now when just 6 mos ago I could never have imagined such a thing happening. The evening went so well, I just had to share.   Susan R🌷

Hi Makayla, imho..Looking perfect isn't necessarily a sign you're experiencing a cross dressing fantasy.  Yes, it's possible you are but you would likely not get a counselor to diagnose you as one based on that fact alone. My wife and I spend way too much time on our makeup and deciding what we're going to wear in the morning.  As a woman, you want perfection to some degree.  I think it's a personal decision for each of us but hardly dictates whether it's a core part of a need to express yourself as a woman or a fashion kink.  I would look at some of the deeper issues with past behavior, desires, thoughts, etc with your counselor.  They may help you resolve this question in time.  The answer is in each of us.   Susan R🌷

Amy I was not anything like a ballet dancer. That is so hard to do. My niece does ballet. She’s amazing. As for me, I can’t turn my feet like that, not do I have anywhere near the flexibility required. Good luck to you there hun!

@DeeDee I can’t say I’m familiar with those. If you look up Webster Hall that’s what I listened to. It’s your basic rave music. I’m sure y’all had great rave music over there though. We were a bit behind with that. I actually went there a bunch of times too. It was crazy. I met dj tiesto and actually got to hang with him a couple times when he came to a club just outside Boston. Drugs girls booze and crazy a nights back then. It’s how I hooked up so much. When you can dance, the girls melt. Well when you’re 21-25ish. The drugs and booze didn’t hurt either. Lol. Oh the memories. 😔 @Makayla2019 I tend to be okay in the car. But that’s kind of a 1 handed head bobbing deal. Idk. I’m sure I’m overthinking it anyways. As usual. But I am proud of how I dance. And now I’m not. Stinks is all. From the only guy allowed on stage with the girls back in the day to afraid to dance in public. Gonna have to call the girls I guess.

Thank you Cyndee.  Life is better than ever now.  Here's a highlight of just a few.  My wife is more than just accepting she is actively helping me become myself.  She loves me as Susan.  My health, specifically my kidney issues, seems to be better than ever.  I now have the best gender health doctor I could ever ask for and she's so close geographically.  No long commutes now.  My doctor mentioned that she wants to change up my HRT regimen to include a higher E dose and also try a new safer anti-androgen which I'm very excited about.  My female wardrobe is getting larger every week.  I've now incorporated a daily routine in my life that makes me feel more whole than ever before.  I know I'm riding a positive wave right now and I want it to last for as long as possible.  Thanks to people here like youself and many others, it's all becoming a reality.  2019 is sure to be filled with even more positive changes in my life and in my transition.   Susan R🌷
