for people just logging onto the site for theyre first time im sure this is one of the big questions theyre trying to find out without spending hours on the internet at a time, and that is how to get started. i'm honestly clueless here and i need to get started on finding now cause im starting on my 18th birthday which is only 20 days away (excitement :D ) so heres the things i think all the ppl asking this wanna know

1) how much a month does it cost? does it vary with how long your willing to be on hormones without the opperation (my freind says its costing her $20 a month but she's still saving for the opperation after a few years)

2) how do we start and what do we need?

3) when do we start?

4) being the forgetful person i am... what happens if we forget to take the pill now and then? ( just to scare it into my memory for good =P)

The VERY first thing you need to do is tell a your Doctor. He or she will then refer you to a physcitrist for evaluation. DO NOT start taking hormones on your own. You need blood levels checked. You have heard it before, but it bears repeating. Hormones are nothing to play with! I don't mean to scare you, just do it right. You're young and the future is yours. good luck. Jolene

missing your dosage once and a while will not effect you in the long run but be carfull a lapse in your dose wont effect you untill a few days down the road but its like missing two or three doses consecutivly

you will have to see a therapist be prepared to do that for 4 or 5 months or longer after that they will reffer you to an endocrinologist and the will take blood somple have to wait a week or a month till the get the results back and if its all clear they give it to you

cost veries at wal mart estrogen usally cost you 4 bucks spironolactone 45 to 50 it fluxuates a month

and maybe cheaper with insurance

hope that helps

Morning,

You can safely bet on about one hundred bucks a month when the time comes.

Cheap, for the peace of mind it will give you.

Buuuuuutttt,as has been said countless times on these forums...

Do Not Do This On Your Own...And Remember...More Is NOT Better.

When your doc prescribes your therapy...

Only do that which is prescribed...More than necessary can and will hurt you.

We lost two girls of my support group that maxed out, wanting immediate change.

And each had a stroke...Robbing them the Journey, and eventually killing them.(Truth)

Be patient, find you professionals..Therapist,Psychiatryst,Primary Care Physician and Endo doc.

This is a long fulfilling journey...Take Your Time...Do It Right And Live Happily.

And Have PATIENCE...The One Thing Transgirls Need In Plentitude...Patience.

Above All...Enjoy The Journey...It Is Well Worth The Long Wait.UmmmHmmm.

Big Hug Ladies,

Angie.

Morning, y'all. Evening here; we had the regulation three mugs full today. Now it's time to drink something else.     No big plans here either, eldest daughter and granddaughter will be arriving on Saturday, and we will have our granddaughter to ourselves for a week after that. We still have plans though. Tuesday we'll go to the swim center, Wednesday we'll take a road trip to visit my mom, Thursday we'll get some mulch delivered to top up the gardens.   I still make other small plans on a daily basis though. The things I do plan nowadays, which is a bit new for me, is that after pinching a nerve and ending up in a bit of pain and getting some treatment from the physio, I am more motivated than ever to exercise more regularly. Tuesday for example, I went for a short (15 minute) early morning walk, went to the pool for some hydrotherapy, and mowed the lawns. Yesterday I did my exercise reps and spent some time on the exercise bike. Today, I went for a 45-minute walk, tomorrow I will do my reps again and go for a long bike ride. As long as I do at least one thing every day, right? The pleasing thing is that I'm losing weight! I blew out to above 95kg early in the year and I'm just under 91kg now. Yay me!

What one piece of advice would you give to beginning transitioners or considering transition?

Boredom is an emotional state that comes when a person has nothing to do, and is not interested in anything. To stop boredom, most people do something to occupy or amuse themselves. The first known use of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, but the saying to be a bore had been used to mean "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768. When referring to the mind, boredom is a bad state in which the person feels a deep lack of interest in what is going on around them, and where it is hard to focus.

So, yesterday's epiphany was that girl jeans fit me much nicer than boy jeans. Well, duh! So this girl is switching over to wearing girl jeans pretty much full time. I'll keep my others for work jeans. We went out to dinner last evening and I was in androgynous mode...wearing a pair of Bandolino Amy straight leg denim pants. Score!

Good morning, everyone!! The coffee upload has started for me but just in the early stages so I'm barely coherent at this point.   You've been missed @Willow - I hope all is going well with your wife and at work.   @awkward-yet-sweet We love to make beans with rice - one of our favorite meals.   No big plans for me today. Small projects around our place and probably some reading. We're going to have some rain off and on, and the temps are still too low for a lot of outdoor work.   Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!
