I've been having a binder since.... September...

NOW I'M TIRED OF IT ROLLING UP!!! D:<

It annoys me to no end, and it makes my chest not flat when it does it, and well.... it's annoying to then go to the restroom (I HATE public restrooms men's or women's) just to fix it.... >_____<;;;

Anyone has tips on how to stop the rolling up of the binder... -______-

Mines a tri-top from underworks

THANK YOU~

Hey Alexander,

That seems to be an annoying fact with a lot of biders. Sometimes trying to just fold the bottom of the binder up a little, (like a cuff) if that makes sense, can help. There are binders from Underworks that are full length and you can tuck them into your underware and that helps keep those ones from riding up and rolling. I hope this helps a little and maybe othes have bette suggestions for you!

Agreed with Joe.

if that doesn't work, and you have someone you can trust with a sewing machine, you can maybe just make it a bit shorter.

But when mine rolls up, it just scrunches up and just sits there... nothing I can really do. :/

I have the tri-top, too, and have been binding with it for 3 years, and it always flips up in the front. It's not really uncomfortable, but sometimes it can be visible through my shirt (like when I'm lifting weights or moving my arms around). I don't think there's really anything you can do about it. Not putting it in the drier will help prevent this, but even if you never put it in the drier, it'll happen eventually. I heard one person suggest once to sew some fabric onto the bottom of it and then tuck it into your shirt. That might help, I don't know.

Have y'all tried shirt stays? Normally they are used by men to keep a shirt tucked in, but should prevent curling too. They cost about $7. They might be called Military Uniform Shirt Stays. I used to use them a lot.

I just looked them up and they seem like a good idea (I opted for the tri-top too...I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail.) Luckily, I'm very savvy with a needle and thread, so I can probably just baste-stitch a bunch of black fabric onto it. (I opted for it in black, 'cause I remember hearing that it does a better job at compression, since it's a slightly different material.)

I've also been told numerous times that wearing a tight-fitting t-shirt under the binder will help keep it from flipping up. (Maybe you could safety-pin it in a few problem areas?) And just in case...maybe wear one on top?

I'll let you know what I come up with once I get mine and can do a little troubleshooting of my own. Though I think a binder rolling up will be kind of refreshing for me. I'm so used to my ace bandages rolling down. <_<

(Just out of curiosity...is the tri-top working for you, compression-wise?)

I'm really worried about rolling too when I get my first binder. I'm hoping getting the chest-only compression binder from Underworks might eliminate that since it only has mild compression below the chest and can be tucked in.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about that. Is there a possibility some spray-starch would help, or would that make it stupid-stiff?

You can do something like this, except fold it over your growths, to take advantage of how it tends to fold over and get a little extra compression. Mine came on Saturday morning and that's what I figured out. I have the growths pushed up to look like pecs and have the binder folded over them halfway so that the other bulging is kept in place. It doesn't quite work for someone with skinny arms like me, but generally if you situate the bulge a little bit higher and can keep it separated, it'll look much more like a cisguy's chest. And, more importantly, it's not rolling up anymore!

This is the most common solution I hear of: cutting the bottom off a black (or white) t-shirt and sewing it onto the bottom of the binder to make it long enough to tuck. Underworks has already done this FOR us since they improved the tri-top by making it longer, but that doesn't help the rest of us who ordered them when they were shorter lol.

I think I'm going to give the shirt stays a try. I have a HUGE problem with my binder riding up; I think it has to do with my chest being huge, since it rolls all the way up above my fleshbags. It doesn't really bother me to adjust my binder in public though. I wear a spandex shirt or A shirt underneath my binder (which doesn't help the issue at all) so it's not like I'm exposing anything. I think at first I was a little annoyed but it happens so often and is so uncomfortable I can't go to the bathroom every time it happens, so I got used to fixing it right then and there.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie
