Am I Balding...?

Well I'm only 18, but every time I brush my hair it seems like I pull out a bunch of hair in the process. I'm brushing my hair at the moment, and I've probably easily pulled out way more than 20 hairs. I've also been finding growing it extremely difficult - it goes past my chin, but I've been unable to get it to grow longer than that. I mean I'll admit I don't brush it that often, but it seems like when I do this happens... :banghead:

If I am balding is there any way to prevent this? Like eating certain foods, using certain shampoos, or something else?

This could be your problem, Hon...

If you don't brush it often you could be dealing with tangles..

Look closely at the hair in the brush...do you see any roots?

If not, you are probably breaking the hairs off while trying to get it brushed out...

So my hair getting tangled could cause hair loss? Cause my hair does seem to get tangled very easily, even when I do brush it every day. =\

Certainly.....

Start brushing at the furthest hair away from you and when you get you get that de-tangled start moving toward the scalp...

Don't start at the scalp and work out...that only makes the tangles tighter and more prone to getting broken....

Also use a conditioner...,that helps prevent tangles in the first place!

If you are out a lot in summer your hair will break off much more. Heat and sun aren't good for it. That's why conditioner is so necessary.

Also you need to brush it more than once a day to get it to grow because there are natural oils that protect your hair and one brushing isn't enough to spread them through your hair. It also isn't enough stimulation of your scalp.

Diet can also be a major factor in how your hair grows and the condition it's in.

All that is one reason I'm so looking forward to going more into guy mode!

Brushing or not brushing has nothing to do with Male Pattern Baldness.

It is genetic and in your DNA and there is something you can do about it.

Hair transplants and that is the only permanent solution.

20 hairs a day is no reason to panic.

MPB can start when you are 18 or when you are 35 even 40.

So watch and wait.

And look at your maternal grandfather as an indicator, but not a guarantee.

If he has hair your odds are good that you will not lose your hair.

If he is bald that is only an indicator that you may lose yours
