So for school my lovely teachers were getting on my case for not making personal art...

So I did a self portrait. Judging by their reactions I guess I pass pretty well from the stomach down, too...

Anyways the piece is about gender dysphoria, my physical limp and disability and my lack of eye contact with others. So it's pretty deep, I guess!

Here's a second self portrait thingy-- it's not finished yet. It's also really big-- three feet or so.

The second one is the one I really like. I love to see faces and expressions. I see the proud, yet sad face of a hunter who has downed his prey. It's interesting you used a lion because a lion is a hunter in its own right. Also the lion looks tranquil and at peace as depicted by hugging the feet of the hunter. The arm over the lion shows the hunter having love and respect for the lion.

Put another way on the surface it looks like death. Yet when you look deeper its more about love (at least that's the way I see it). There is a lot to examine in that painting. And to think it isn't finished yet.

Wow, Jenny-- That is some really neat insight into the work! I think you're right about everything in it. I actually wasn't able to put a thing into words of what I was thinking about when I made that. There was only that image, and I knew I had to paint it. So I think you picked up on a lot of the emotions I was feeling.

The second one is awesome!

I'm getting something interesting out of it.

In the hunter's face I don't see pride or sadness, rather apathy. As if the great accomplishment of slaying the beast is a moot point to him. An accomplished hunter yet something else, something much heavier rest on his mind.

Yet the interplay or the lion's tail on his shoulder and paws around his foot seem to me the beast way of saying, "No, this is an accomplishment!" attempting to remind the hunter not to overlook achievement.

HELL YEAH ART INTERPRETATION!
