Am I Malnutritioned?

I am 18, 5'11", and 100 pounds. My hips protrude from my waist, and my ribs are kind of visible... Should I be worried? No one around me seems to pay any attention to it.

I don't know about malnutritioned, but the low end weight for woman is around 132 pounds, men 144 pounds. And this is for a small build. I don't know your metabolism weight, and what you are eating. Is it balanced? Are you exercising?. To gain weight you can try eating more carbohydrates like grains and fruit. I would recommend seeing a nutritionist to see what you might try. Or maybe a doctor to see if you have something else wrong.

If you are doing this voluntarily, and not eating lots to try and put on more weight, you are almost certainly an anorexic, with a body-mass-index of 14, and that's using a woman's chart: http://howmuchshouldiweighformyheight.com/how-much-should-i-weigh-for-my-height

To be blunt, your genetics probably mean that your frame is heavier than a genetic female, and I apologize for having to bring that up.

But you are dangerously low-weight.

If you are inhaling food and this thin anyway, you might see if you have hyperthyroidism, or perhaps cut back if you're exercising a lot. But it sounds like you are just flat-out starving yourself into an extremely unhealthy weight.

You need help for this immediately before your organ damage, which you may already have KILLS YOU. You may already have kidney damage, a hole in your heart, liver damage, skeletal thinning, and various other things I can't think of right now, but they aren't pleasant.

Your BMI is close to a level at which hospitalization is considered in order to make sure the patient doesn't go into cardiac arrest. You need to see a psychiatrist about this immediately.

Darn. Yes, I usually get one large meal a day and several snacks during the rest of it. I don't get any excercise at all, so I know that isn't it. It is voluntary, and I never really thought about the damage that could be being done to me. Welllll.... great. Now what am I going to do? Just... eat more? I get all my nutrients...

Sasha,

I know that when I was eighteen I weighed 112 lbs at 6'. I joined the marines and had to get a weight waiver because I was so thin. After about twenty I settled at about 135 lbs for more than a decade. After having a meth addiction for 7 years I went from 135 to 165 in 6 months. I wasn't exercising and it all went to my belly. I have been watching what I eat now and I try to eat at least three meals a day. Some days I do some days I don't. If you think three is to much to do all at once then try two meals a day until you get used to it. I know that the stomach shrinks up and for some people it is almost nausiating to feel too full, at least it is for me. Make a meal plan for yourself and place on it two meals a day that you enjoy eating. Make sure that the meal time that you are adding is something easy to prepare or something you really love so that you won't put it off because you don't feel like making it. I hope this helps.

Great advice Emily! I'll try that, a lunch and dinner. My problem is that my stomach is so bulgy right now anyway i'm worried i'll look like i'm (haha) pregnant if I eat any more. Nonetheless, thanks. Any other tips to start fitting more calories/eating more in to my day>?

Hi Fatefighter :). I have a very high metabolism but haven't been at your weight since age 8. One I think you should go see a dr and take some blood tests and ask for advice. You can also check your own eating by checking your finger nails if they are too white you have some calcium deficiency. Also if you feel very weak and need to sleep a lot you might not be eating enough. On the other hand you might just have a very high metabolism like me. I tried to fight it by eating as much as possible but it seem to naturally slow down by the time you reach 25. Although my friend wanted to bulk up so started trying to intake as many callerys as possible. There are afew unnatural substitutes you can take:

Eating this much without exercise will give you a lot of weight but at first you wont bulk right away so expect it to take over a year to happen. It like loosing weight but not as recognised.

Good luck :)

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).
