Body Waxing

I'm getting so tired of all this hair everywhere on my body. It is one of the things that causes me the most issues. I just looked into body waxing, and to do everything from the neck down would cost $305 every 4-5 weeks. I'm not sure I can convince my wife to go for it. I cant use a regular razor on my body or arms as the skin is too sensitive. The leg hair is really thick in the upper thigh area which is also extremely sensitive. I can use my electric razor, but that still leaves a little stubble, which is unacceptable, especially on the arms where people can see, or the inner thighs where they can rub. I want to start on HRT so it can start to grow back in finer and make this easier, but my wife isn't quite ready for that, and from what i know, that would take a while to really really make a difference. So, any thoughts on what I should do?

Hi Monika,

I really understand where you are coming from. I have started using an epilator on my arms and legs, and have used Nair other places. Have just purchased some home waxing products and applicators, but have not yet gotten around to actual use. I really need to make time.

Hope some of the others chime in with what they recommend!

Huggs,

Hi Monika,

I use a epilator works great.it does hurt till you are use to it. I also wax which is kinda messy but works good and can be had at wally world for around $12.00 for a kit.

Hmmm, i have an epilator, but it didn't seem to really work. It was an emjoy prestige, has anyone had experience with it? Maybe I'm just using it wrong. Oh, and I had a bad break out where I used it. Is that normal? Ive heard to get the best one you can afford, and this was all I could find locally. I'm not opposed to buying one online, if I know what is going to really work.

I've used nair before, but I always seem to leave it on too long and get chemical burns from it. Have you tried Veet? I think that's what it is called anyway. Is it any gentler?

Me and home waxing don't get along. The last time I used it, I ended up taking a patch of skin off. My wife made me promise to never do it again.

Waxing at home is really not that difficult, if you can find a willing assistant for those hard to reach places, and after a few times, it doesn't even hurt much, and what does hurt is the pulling on the skin, not the hair removal itself. I recently started using Nair's new roll on wax(Link), and I have to say, I'm impressed. It works great, and the best part is that the strips wash right off in warm water and they're re-usable, so it's fairly inexpensive. There's approximately enough in one container for a full body wax, depending on your size and where you are hairy (I don't have to worry about my back, so it's enough for me.) The only issue I had with it, was that I can only do so much at a time because there's only 10 strips that come with it. However, what I did to make up for that, is I bought two, and I used two sets of strips. It's still not enough to do a full body, but I certainly make a lot more progress that way.

It's a heck of a lot cheaper, that's for sure.

I would love to get an epilator. The one I want, though, is the braun silk epil, but I haven't been able to find one for purchase locally. I spoke to my mom about it though, and she said she'd put it on her credit card for me so I can order it online, if I give her the money. By far the cheapest method of hair removal in the long run, if you get one that works well and you take good care of it.

I started with electric epilation, then waxing, and settled for shaving instead. With both epilation & waxing I got red bumbs that lasted until the next month. So for me there was no benefit, only incredible pain as I had much leg hair. Shaving doesn't give me as much bumbs, so I settled for it. Veet would work too, the least painful and better than shaving.

Just goes to show you how different everybody's experiences can be. I find shaving gives me the worst bumps (from ingrown hairs), and I definitely find the most discomfort from shaving and depilatory creams. Most times I don't even get bumps that last longer than a few hours from waxing.

I just saw the brqun silk epil at Target on sale. I almost picked it up, but I'm not sure how it compares to the Optimal.

I get bumps from shaving too. I use my electric on my body now, and while it works okay, I need something better. I did pick up some Veet though, so we'll see how well that works.

Ah, the razor burn. I used to get that all the time. I find using a quality women's razor helps on arms and legs, but also gradually your skin will get used to it. HRT helps reduce a lot of the bulk of the hair too, so you'll find yourself shaving much less often which helps enormisly.

That's what I say, too...

21 months on HRT and I touch up about once a week in the shower with a razor...it now grows slow and fine...

If you do a little research, you'll see that the Silk Epil gets the best reviews of any epilator. And it has several models to choose from. Cordless, corded, ones you can get wet, etc. Even the simplest model gets great reviews. I researched them for hours one night, and it's the hands-down winner.

https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/several-attorneys-general-made-abusive-legal-demands-get-trans-patient-rcna147910     This is a complex issue and I'm no expert, but the actions of these GOP Attorney's General don't pass the smell test.  Their motivations and actions are highly suspect and they lack any credibility.  What else is new, right?  I guess it will all come out in the inevitable court fight.   Carolyn Marie

I went to work with my husband today.  He asked me this morning if I wanted to go...of course I said yes.  I enjoy being with him, and getting away from the house for a little while.  He spent half the day in his office, which I think is why he asked me along.  He made a nest in the corner for me, where I can plug in my laptop and do my stuff...nobody minds me being there.     But today ended up with a strange opportunity.  I had a conversation with my husband's boss, the company owner.  They want some basic graphic design work done, so I think they might hire me to do it.  Nothing fancy, not nearly as complicated as what I've attempted to do for our county.  So I have a meeting with them on Monday, just to look at some details and see if I can do the work they want.  And especially talk about when they need it done, because I still work pretty slowly.  I don't really need or want the money, but its nice to feel like I can do something again.

I went to WM today with the objective of buying sandals: they would be women's, but look like men's; they would be brown or black, not white.  I realized the cheapest way to go  was to go for flip-flops, which I observed were prevalent in the store. So I checked out the women's.  Flowers. White shiny straps. Nothing that could possibly be men's. The best deal was one flip flop for $3.98.  At first I thought that was a pair, then, nope.  And because I comparison shop (is there the same thing in men's?) I found the cheapest over there was $6.98 for a pair of flip flops in green that also match my women's cargo shorts that I love.  Doing the math, finding the pink tax.  Rip off.  I have found a blue tax this way, but usually they charge women more for something than they do men. I guess women tend to lose one flip flop at a time or something. Weird.  The pairs were a lot higher.   So, following my rule, but unhappy with it, I bought the green men's flip flops.  They were the cheapest.  Later wife of mine complimented how masculine I look in my matching shorts and flip-flops.  Inward groan. We have not discussed the Subject in a long time because I think she forgets it is there as soon as the conversation ends.  Or she is trying to talk me out of this.  Not sure.  We only discuss it when necessary, and how often do most couples discuss whether one spouse is one sex or the other? Outside of here, I mean.  So we very seldom talk about it and she is happier if she does not know about it. Super stealth.  I do the laundry and I shower in the shower in the wing away  from the master bed room so I have my own shower.

I'm very glad that everything worked out even better than you thought. It's a tough spot to be in and I know the exact feelings. I'm still waiting to apply for divorce under abandonment so I officially can meet someone who one day I can call someone my prince or my queen. Although the desire for someone is fading because of everything. it's even more amazing that she was your high school sweetheart! Looking forward to the next entry.

Awww thanks for listening everyone. I have another 5-6 songs in this style that I started recording at the same time, so hopefully I’ll finish the next release soon.   Yes, exactly. Everything was easier about this project, mainly because it felt authentic. The energy was very different, because it was such a pleasure to express myself without a filter. I laughed a lot.

Thanks for listening @Mmindy.   You’re welcome @April Marie. I think Sally Can’t Dance is an underrated album.

Well I had an interview with the local Ford Dealership for an opening in the parts dept. It sounded positive. I was told I would here by tomorrow morning.    Other than that just sticking around the house. I haven't done much, the weather is cold and yucky. Doesn't look like good weather till Sunday. Maybe tomorrow I'll fire up the heater in the garage and see about getting the other brake hose put on the Explorer.   Have a good rest of your day/evening.   Hugs, Kymmie
