Some Ideas If You Please

Ok, for the last 2 weeks i have been writing a new comic. basically it's a character driven, "drama" (hate to use that word), very mundane (in the world of comics), and I was curious if anyone had a situation, experience, etc that I could delve into a bit. The comic is driven by situations surrounding the 4 main characters (so far)-they are a trans woman (Xander (he hasn't begun or does early on), Sam and Kat (a lesbian couple who are activists, and Xander's support), and James- Xander's best friend since childhood- a straight guy who doesn't have issues with Sam and Kat but serious ones with Xander when he tells him (or tries to).

Basically I would love to hear from people mostly about issues they are dealing with, situations (good and bad) they have been through, etc and anything else anyone would like to suggest or add. Obviously I don't want people to share things that they are uncomfortable with, or just feels is too private. Heck I'd even love to hear from SOs, friends, family, etc about what they are going through.

Lastly I would even take suggestions for characters... as I think i wouldn't mind serializing it into chapters focusing on different people. Thanks for anything anyone submits, I hope to be able to start drawing once i am feeling better and possibly have the first pages up in February.

Again thanks for any and all ideas.

Melanie, if you're looking for universal themes that affect us, I would think that coming out to family, especially S/O's, is one of the biggest issues. It is certainly the source of the most drama, the most heartache, and the biggest fears.

A read through the "Coming Out Forum" would fill a dozen novels with pathos, and jerk enough tears to fill a swimming pool.

oh ya der... well Xander isn't involved with anyone when the story opens, but I plan on showing some of his past and bad relationships he's had.

What about having a straight guy who Xander (MTF right?) barely knows not recognize her when she's dressed female, and then this guy falls for her, not realizing she's someone he'd met before as a male? Convolutedness makes drama more awesome. :D Then Xander can agonize over telling her new boyfriend- awkward dating might be fun in a comic. She could have trouble figuring out when to come out to him.

I think you also need Xander's family thrown in- a parent or two, siblings, etc- with varying reactions to the situation. Maybe give her a grandmother who is really understanding and, like, knew all along, and a mom or sibling who refuses to go along with her change in gender?

I hope that helps. Happy writing/drawing!

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.
