Growing Hair Before Hrt? Or After?

Hi might be a silly question but does anybody know if growing your hair before taking hormones and after taking them makes any difference? I never tried growing my hair long so am not sure how it will turn out. Most guys I know with long hair there hair ends up really thick and matted or very wavy. Gender females hair seems alot more fine and silky. So is it just the treatment they are using or does there hair grow naturally more fine than mens meaning its best to start growing hair after hrt so all the female hormones mix with the hair and make it nice?

.

My personal opinion would be to start growing it out as soon as you can...

I haven't noticed my HRT affecting it ...one way or the other, though....

I think that it would be better to have the hair as soon as you can....

That's just me, though....

I started in October, 2008 and it is now about 15 inches long. FUN.

Start as soon as you can - and this includes BEFORE HRT. You will have to have the ends trimmed anyway as it longer. So the 'male' growth, if different, will be cut off fairly quickly. (I didn't notice any difference).

i started growing my hair out 10 years before i decided to start HRT. The only difference, i think, since i have started HRT is i have started to take better care of my hair, and somehow it magically looks better :P

I've kept mine long since high school. It's about 22 inches now, but really fine and horribly stringy. However, so is my mother's, meaning that it's more a genetic thing than a sex thing.

My philosophy: just start growing it out. You can always cut off the stuff that looks bad later when you have the confidence and environmental capability to wear it in a feminine style.

Actually yes there is some difference as cells are affected differently by estrogen in the manner that they grow more readily and are more able to replenish themselves. Females here who have started HRT will probably tell you there skin has become softer than it was before , hair is affected similarily by this :) .

I do believe however that you should start as soon as you want with growing your hair long :) and try to use shampoo and conditioners ( the conditioner should help with any matting) , maybe to combat any lack of strength in hair follicles look on the hair products for strengthening and breakage protection.

Go for it. The first year might be a pain, but after that it's pure bliss! I still remember the first time that the wind was blowing through my hair, brushing over my ears making a sound. It was simply heaven! You might be tempted in the first year to cut it. Don't. You regret it. If you have knots (eventually you will), work them out slowly, if you can't, try to untangle them as much as you can, then cut them with a scissor. Hair doesn't grow faster if you go to a hairdresser. if you have curls and badly want to go to a hair dresser, find one that specializes in curls. Because most hairdressers do not know how curly hair works. Curly hair usually looks dry and tangled, it doesn't mean the hair is broken or bad. It is it's natural state, so most dressers are tempted to cut of a foot-long of that. Don't let them. Rinse your hair often, put in a leave-in conditioner as much as you can, and you will never see the inside of a salon while growing long hair!

I haven't started any hormones or anything and my hair is short (very) but I use shampoo and conditioner and despite its length my hair is still very soft. Proud of my soft hair! lolz

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.
