Hair Regrowth And Electrolysis

Hello all. Sorry if there is a similar post somewhere and if not well, thank you in advance to those who reply.

I have only had two electrolysis appointments so far. This Saturday will be my third but I plan on having her move me to once a week appointments. Anyways, the last 2 appointments my electrologist has cleared small patches of hair here and there and they have stayed clear for about a week... but by the second week hair is growing in again. Is this new follicles becoming active? Has anyone had any problems with professional electrolysis not working? My electrologist said because I have natural red in my hair that she has to use a higher setting and some hairs need to be zapped twice to kill it... which is always pleasant and leaves my skin feeling nice and extra crispy...

I am trying to stay positive through out this process but seeing new hairs growing in is really upsetting... I need to see change and progress, and as usual my body is retaliating in every way possible. I knew I should have left it alone but I just couldn't resist. Professional electrolysis really is 100% right?

Thanks again everyone.

Yes - a bad part of electrolysis. The first session removes the hair - and is permanent for the ones that grow out straight from under the skin (the probes are straight). But some hair is slightly curved or 'j' shaped under the skin. These take several 'hits.'

And your electrologist should have explained that. It can be as high as a 30%-40% failure rate if you are unlucky. I think the average is more like 10% - 20% maybe - and depends on the location.

And yes - hair does reappear, more from te natural process of regeneration NOT affected by electrolysis, but by having naturally dormant follicles come back to active status. Hair growth tends to cycle. I have read it occurs in about a seven year pattern. So electrolysis eventually ends up with a lot of maintenance.

The good news (my opinion here, based on my experience) is the HRT stops a lot of the regrowth. There just isn't a testosterone trigger anymore.

LASER has its own pluses and minuses. The shape of the hair under the skin seems not to matter, but the coloration does. Many people report a lot of regrowth with LASER, and others don't.

Perhaps a combination works, I donno. At my age all my facial hair tends to be white and NOT a good candidate for LASER. But being white? it is harder to see. Plus I never really had a beard anyway.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Lizzy. Very informative. I am very unlucky in general, so yeah I'd easilly believe my chances of failure are 30-40+% lol. Not being pessimisstic here, I am just one of those people who was born with a lack of luck.

Unfortunately I am not on HRT. This thursday I will speak with my therapist about getting her consent to start and try to find an endocrinologist. I'd really like to get back on it asap. I did 7 months of laser and experienced temporary thinning of the hair but within a month after my last appointment it was back in so dark and heavy there was no way to hide it.

It's obvious this will be a long uphill battle for me. Such is my luck. Just hope I am strong enough to climb to the top so I can get started down the other side...

honestly though, sometimes I'm not sure why I bother trying.

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Things are moving quickly now that I have my drivers license and social security card in my new name. It was really affirming when I got my first paycheck in my new name.

Amazingly I have found many cis women are absolutely wrong in their assumptions about bra fittings. I knew an elderly lady that said, "I have been a C cup since school, I just buy a bigger band size as my breasts grow." This is completely WRONG as the band should always fit snug with they gore firmly against the chest.    One of CNA's came into Torrid and I helped her pick out a new bra. She didn't even understand band size was inches and cups/band combo were based off Victorian shirt sizes.  She said, "how do you know so much?"   We found her proper fitting band size, then found a cup she fit.    How can people that take the vast majority of bra users know so little about them? Seems most cis women just use "try it on" only.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?
