A Good Diet And Other Health Advice

Hey everyone!

I recently started HRT and I realized that I should probably monitor my diet better than I do currently(which isn't very well).

I was curious if there were certain types of food I should avoid or ones I should eat more of. I tried looking it up myself but big words confuse me... I was wondering if someone could help me understand with simpler terms and just general advice from people who actually have or are doing HRT.

Thanks in advance! :D

Congrats on starting HRT! :)

I'm no expert, but I think the regular "rules" of dieting should be enough. Watch your portions, avoid snacking, eat a balanced diet, and get plenty of exercise. You could try asking your doctor for specific advice about which foods to avoid or eat more of. :)

Thank you for the response! I will have to ask my doctor next appointment. I still live with my family and don't really do the cooking so they tend to cook some stuff that makes me question how healthy it is for me. I suppose I need to start shopping and cooking for myself more! After all, I can't live here forever.

That shall be my next goal! Thanks again! :)

I read that cutting back your intake by 15% will not only improve your health but add as much as 5 years onto your lifespan.

if you're on spiro, there is the whole potassium thing: since it's a potassium-sparing diuretic, then you can't consume too much potassium otherwise your body will store it and and it will throw your K Na levels out of balance. but it really shouldn't matter unless you're wolfing down bananas by the tonne--just as long as they're balanced out by other food and water (which they usually are) then you should be fine.

apart from that...yep, eat healthily, take regular exercise, don't play with matches...all that stuff that they tell you ;)
