Finding Shoes That Fit

What I just discovered today, searching this same problem, was that Nordstrom has cute shoes up to size 12! I love them!

I've never shopped at Nordstrom.com but they have a great selection of shoes in size 11 or 12. Many times I've seen where they'll carry those sizes while other stores carry the same shoe but only go up to size 10.

The shoes I ordered came finally. They were TOO BIG!! That's a first for me even as a guy. They were a size 15 so i sent them back for a size 14. I hope that happens more often. My guy size is 14! :-)

i found that the general rule of going up 2 sizes isnt really true... for me depending on the brand a style i can wear between an 8.5-10 i guess im lucky that my feet are small though...but my shoe size in mens is a 9 so i found that it isnt really true

I am a size 10.5. I have a pair of calf high leather heels that are a size 9, i can get them on but its not comfortable.

Not that it matters, but just for useless info (maybe you already knew this?), US shoe sizes are different from UK. A US men's size 11 is approx same as a UK size 10. And, to make things even more confusing US women's sizes are not the same as men's. So, here in the USA I'd need a size 11 men's shoe, or a size 12 ladies, or if I was buying something from the UK size 10. Clothing sizes for women here are even more confusing..

I wear a 9 in mens shoe an I wanted a pair of High Heel Boots I was talking to a friend of mine an she told me to get a size 11 the pic of the boots in the avatar is what I ordered online an when I got the boots I put them on an they fit perfect and they make my feet look smaller. Good thing I listened to my friend or I would have gotten the wrong size.

Sarah, my experience has been that, on average for me at 9-1/2 in men's

with narrow feet, buying women's regular 11 fit perfectly. It actually is kind

of funny, as I have bought 9-1/2 men's off the shelf 9 (ex. Costco, Payless)

and sometimes found them too wide. I should have been buying women's

11 all along!!!

One thing I did learn when buying them around Halloween, when it is

more comfortable for some of us to shop because "Its for a party," is

that, as a clerk told me, women's shoes with pointy toes make your feet

look bigger. I've asked my wife about this and she says that is absolutely

true .....

Go to endless.com - type in your shoe size and width. It usually shows a good selection.

Lizzy

That's a lovely website!!

I agree with Liz!!

I was thinking of trying to find a pair of women's shoes for Svenna to "practice" walking in, but without having tried on any women's shoes, I am guessing that the size 13 men's would be about a 15 women's... and a quick search online showed me this won't be easy to find. The few places that seem to carry them have the cheapest in that size priced at about $40+... wow... that is more than I pay for my own shoes, and mine aren't just for practice. I have only once in my life paid over $20 for a pair of women's shoes! I know I probably have less $ to spend on my clothing than most women, but gee, at $40+ per pair, how in the world can anyone afford to have more than one pair? I guess I won't be buying Svenna's 1st pair of women's shoes after all...

Roxanna:

Do a measurement of Svenns foot to get her size in a female size, then look through a Good Will Store or Payless. It won't be a huge selection, but if you find her size and the shoes fit, the cost is minimal. BTW I wear a 11 1/2 mens and a 12 1/2 may or may not fit. If I can't try them on, I go with a size 13.

No joke, Roxanna, but this year's Miss Oregon is from the University of Oregon

and she plays on the women's volleyball team and is 6'3". She is an absolute

knockout. She was doing an interview on a Portland network and, as you would

expect, the guy (6'1") couldn't resist commenting on her height. He asked if

she had any problems being so tall .... the inference by his intonation was about

"finding men" comfortable with her height.

Her response was to note that if you are a 6'3" woman buying clothes and shoes

is not only a major problem, but a major expense. My thought is ... imagine going

into a Macy's or a Kohl's or a whatever knowing that virtually nothing on the racks

or in the window is in your size. Darn, I'm 5'9" and can't help but notice I pay more

for anything that is sized as a "tall." I'm a size 11 in women's shoes and can't help

but notice that online for the major stores I am on the cusp of being to find some-

thing or looking for a speciality store.

Maybe your alternatives are to get Svenna a volleyball scholarship and the

opportunity to excel in beach volleyball for ESPN dollars or keep her "barefoot

and pregnant."

I somehow know Svenna's laughing at the thought of either one, but just in

case I've offended either one of you, my apologies. I sincerely mean no

harm, but too often we take ourselves too seriously and cannot see the

audacity of what we transgendered folk are trying to accomplish when it seems

the world is against us. I know it is hard because I've discovered shopping

shoes gets ugly real quick if you aren't "normal."

Look at the bright side ..... makeup isn't priced by size.

LOL - Janice Lynn - I had to laugh at that too - barefoot, yes... pregnant or playing vollyball... ha ha... neither of us will be doing either of those things!

Thanks to all for the tips. (And I thought my women's size 9 feet were hard to shop for! Who knew clothes shopping could get even more frustrating?)

A problem. I am men's size 9. A woman's 11 with heels left me flopping around with the things falling off. Locally very little choice, and the bricks and mortar shops here dont generally carry anything larger than an 8 in women's! I reckon I will have get to know a make, and stick to that per internet.

How about trying plus size shops? In the UK we have several shops, such as "yours" and "evans" designed for larger than average sized people. They also do extrawide shoe sizes in there. OR search the net for 7EEE shoes etc (7 being your size, EEE being the size guide for wider

I'm a size 11 mens and wear a size 12 women's usually. Its hard to shop online for shoes and i usually go to Payless. Where i can try things on. Its important to be comfortable as well as sexy unless you can have a chair nearby all the time. I made that mistake the other day and ended up standin on concrete for 4+ hours in heels. The testicles of my feet didn't forgive me for a day.

I'm looking at these shoes,

http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_035VA49725301P?Sid=IDx20100622x00003a&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=31-27515735-2

and for $35 bucks I want them to fit but I don't have the courage to try them on in Kmart. If the y don't fit right I'd be too terrified to return them. I found a pair of size 10 regular that fit fine and then others that fit too tight. Anyone know if that brand runs a bit wider than average?

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Sally Stone, I have enjoyed reading this thread immensely. There certainly are some things in it that I can relate to, particularly when you wrote that "I wasn’t a man trapped in a woman’s body." This simple statement confirmed two things for me; I am not an imposter here, and I could end up much further along the path than what I imagine now.   I very much look forward to your future posts here.   I hope that by posing this question I'm not committing you to spoil future posts, but can I ask, why you have settled on Bigender as a label? I keep changing my label and have no idea what it might be tomorrow or next week or next month!

This whole Cass Review thing is breaking my heart. I keep imagining how it must be to be a trans kid in the UK atm. I am halfway through reading the review so that I can effectively refute it if and when people cite it here in Australia.

One thing I took on board from a former boss who was an absolute gentleman and fluent conversationalist but a hopeless leader because he was the classic yes man to his superiors, was to take the emotion out of the equation when arguing. Don't use hyperbole. Don't exaggerate. Stick to what you know and defeat your adversary with logic. Of course, your adversary will double down and make an even bigger fool of themselves, and not even realize that they have lost the argument, nor will they realize that people are laughing at them and not with them. It also helps if you can separate them from their minions.   A conservative elderly uncle, who left school at the age of 12, swears black and blue that taking Ivermectin (sheep dip) prevents Covid because he knew someone who knew someone else who took it and despite that person being momentarily in close contact with people who had Covid, didn't come down with it. "Well, you're the one with the science degree!" I said.   A lot of people argue out of ignorance. They base their points on populism and rumor. I rarely argue, but when I do, it is in an attempt to push back. Another favorite saying that I use is "Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools and believed by idiots." I then ask, "Which two are you?" 😉

Good morning, all!!! Cloudy today with some light rain coming. Not a day to work outside.   I will vacuum the house and the head out to our local hardware store after I get cleaned up. Time to buy a new bird feeder for the back porch.   I'm sorry the job didn't work @KymmieL! Hang in there.   It sounds like a busy time for you at work @Willow. Finding reliable people is so hard these days.   Time for another cup of coffee before I start cleaning!!   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
