How Do You Judge The Skill Of An Electrologist?

Hi,

I'm pre HRT at the moment (plan to start next month) and started facial electrolysis about a month ago as I read it was good to start it

as early as possible. I've been going as often as I can and have been doing 8-10 hours a week, in total about 34 hours so far, but still

haven't quite had my face cleared.. Everything has been done at least once except a strip of hair about half an inch wide from the bottom

of my chin down my neck. As a result I think I'm about a week away from halving my sessions per week.

My electrologist has been doing this for over 30 years (and you can tell from the equipment) and uses flash thermolysis. I've read that

with this method its meant to be quickest to remove the hair but has a poor kill-rate particularly with thicker hair compared to say blend.

I've also read that the method doesn't matter much in the long-term and skill of the electrologist is the most important.

One thing my electrologist told me early on was that the first step was to 'correct' the hair follicle so that it would straighten and that

during this phase, none of the hairs were getting killed so would regrow (which I hadn't read anywhere). So far she has managed to keep up

with the regrowth and I would say about 75% of my sessions are on new stuff (which is almost done). I also have to say that contrary to

info I had read that it 'only tingles a little' these days, my electrolysis sessions do hurt a lot, but I don't think I'm alone there.

So I guess, apologies for the rambling entry but I'm wondering how do you know if an electrologist is good or not, especially if you don't

have reviews from others to go on? I do like my electrologist personally and she is the only person apart from my partner and GT that is

aware I'm transitioning.

Hon...I'd have to assume that if they have been doing it for over 30 years...there would be LOTS of input from others about her skill..

Usually an internet search will pull up a rating for businesses and have replies ....

30 years is a lot of experience and that can be a good thing. Skill accuracy and speed. There is no point in getting a new person who is fast but not precise or slower and more expensive Reviews: Take them with a grain of salt. Sometimes online reviews depending on a site can be slanted. Eg a website that is only about ranting about businesses. The person might have ranted yes but if they go back later, get things resolved that might not appear or the post removed when they are happy. But yes to be in business that long there must be a lot of people to get feed back. But where do you find them the people she worked on. For transgender you can ask at a local transgender support group for example.

Remember just like for laser there are a number of hair growth cycles. Those clear areas will have to done again and again. A number of weeks between growth cycles of dormant hair.

I've heard the faster electrolysis method you mentioned isn't as affective, some regrowth BUT it is faster, which means cheaper too and you can always go back to the areas that weren't affected. Still it is quicker and cheaper overall I believe. That is what was recommended to me when I go to do electrolysis after laser.
