A First For Everything -- Hot Rollers

Folks have been after me to use hot rollers on my hair to give it some body. This afternoon, I decided to Bite The Bullet and try them out. Ok, I have about another ten minutes before I think I am cooked, but if there is anything to make me re-consider this transition thing, these are it. About curler number three, I think I got the secret, which is to separate the hair layers with a rattail comb and curl from the top of the head down. This one has the clips that go over the curler that you have to preheat along with the roller, --sigh, -- but these darn things are heavy and I stil have a few places that I now see did not get rolled up, not to mention one that is pulling at an odd angle and hurts a bit, but its in the dead middler of a clump of them.

OK, I type slow enough that I think they are all room temperature, which at the minute is a bit chilly, so I get to see the damage I did before I finish this post.

------------

I did not scalp myself getting them out, and I do have some curl and body that doesn't look too bad, All of the rollers are accounted for, first degree burns have all subsided, now if I can get up the nerve to post the pictures in my gallery--- Yeah I did do web cam analysis of before and after, but I think there is a rule against posting anything too gruesome and horrifying for young children somewhere that I can use for a reason not to.

The things we do when we transition. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of kindness I am sparing you all the hot roller horror stories from my flip side past.

None are as bad as my curling iron story. It involves not looking where I was sitting when naked getting ready for work one morning. I still have a scar but fortunately never have to look at it

:)

May you only get better with your rollers and never know the nasty little surprises they are capable of. It's been so many years maybe they have ironed out the wrinkles.

And I also want pics

Hugs

Johnny

My mom uses hot rollers and they do look time consuming having to seperate hair and roll it down and clamp it. It shows what lengths women will go through for gorgeous curls. Kudos to you for having the patience and determination to do that! (I'd have given up about half way through)

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      *older, not holder, oops :P

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

      I think I lost a friend :(

I will have arrived when I have a b*tch certificate of my own.  I think someone called me one once.

That’s fantastic Lorelei. I’m so happy for you.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
