Liz tests out a long-wearing lipcolor

It is time, once again, for a Liz once-in-a-blue-moon-product review. *applause*

Today I had the chance to test drive a long-wearing lipstick to see if it really does last all day or if those claims are just a crock of clams.

I purchased Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor in 'Eternal Rose'

First, why eternal rose? Well I looked online at the company's website and it was between that shade or a cranberry. Since I was going to purchase another lipstick in a darker berry color I thought I would try the lighter shade of my two choices and I'm glad I did because this made for a good lipcolor for my skin tone (medium) and hair color (dark brown).

This item is two tubes connected by one center piece, each with it's own attached brush applicator. One one side you have the lip color. On the other side a clear gloss top coat. The directions said to apply the lip color and then wait for it to dry before applying the gloss. It takes about a minute to set. Do you know how cumbersome it is to apply lip color and then sit and do nothing with your mouth wide open waiting for it to dry? You may as well go lay on the bed because you're going to drool and it's really hard to suck that spittle in with your mouth wide open. But I digress. One it's dry and the color is set.....it's set! Oh and then you can swipe the clear gloss over it to give your lips some shine. You can also go without if you want to but I found it made my lips kinda sticky. Also it seems the clear gloss should have been bigger since you can apply the gloss as often as you like, so, it's going to run out before the lip color does.

Now the plus side to all this is that the lip color really does stay on your lips. It lasted most of the day and through most of my meals and didn't wear off on the straw to my cup that I've been drinking from and refilling all day. It didn't wear off while eating. It didn't wear off while brushing my teeth. It only wore off a little bit near the end of the day and I just reapplied a little bit to make it look fresh again.

Now the down side. This lip color really does stay on your lips. The directions state to use a cream or oil based makeup remover to take the lip color off your lips. I used Noxema daily face cream cleanser which is supposed to remove dirt, oil and makeup. Even with that I had to go back over my lips a second time with a little more of the cream makeup remover and with a wash cloth litterally scrub my lips to get the last remaining lip color off. It's more resilient than cockroaches.

In the end, I'm happy with it and look forward to using it from time to time in my daily beauty arsenal. I may not use it every day but it will be good for those long days where I just don't want to be hassled with having to touch up or really lipstick every so often.

Prices, I'm sure, will vary according to wherever you live and I found this at Walmart so it should be available at your favorite big box store and/or drug store.

You can go online to Revlon and look up this product and see the available shades it's in to see if one suits you. I also went online to Ulta and searched for lipstick and narrowed the choices down to 'Under $10' and 'Highest Rated' and this was one of items listed so that's why I bought it in the first place. That and it was listed as long-lasting. I think they claim it's supposed to last 14 hours. For me it lasted 12 with one minor touch up around the 9 hour mark.

It is very good advice to make sure the lips are dry before applying the clear lip gloss coating. The stuff I used was another brand. The one I used had the same thing where it didn't come off for hours and didn't come off on glasses etc. I did find thought that if you are eating anything with for example tomato, tomato sauce, the color came off. With the clear lip gloss, when it comes off, the lips look blah! You have to make sure you stay on top of it re applying the clear lip gloss.

I've found Revlon Colorstay products to be the best - for foundation and lipstick. ;)

Holy moley I found a long wearing lipstick that actually lasts!

Maybelline SuperStay 14 Hour Lipstick.

I put it on this morning and it was still on at the end of the day. It lasted through meals. It survived the soda straw. I only had to touch it up once and that was to get the part where your lips touch when your mouth is closed, that seemed to have the color wear off but the majority of it stayed on all day. It smells like lipstick, it doesn't leave your lips feeling funny and I haven't tested it out but I would think you could put a clear gloss over it. I don't think it took very long to set, either.

It gets the Liz.....

I haven't tried the Maybelline 14 hour lipstick, but I do really like their 24 hour superstay color. Although you have to wait for it to dry just like the Revlon product mentioned above. I do tend to use a nicer gloss over the top of it than what it comes with - I'm kind of partial to the Hard Candy Glossaholic line.

I always try to catch your reports like the gel bra etc. Most of us would just state the good or bad. When you do it I have had to stop reading since I was laughing so hard my eyes were watering. I hope you keep testing products it makes my day.

Oh Yes!   This one is so obvious to anyone who has had a cat and observed any Big Cat.

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Sally Stone, I have enjoyed reading this thread immensely. There certainly are some things in it that I can relate to, particularly when you wrote that "I wasn’t a man trapped in a woman’s body." This simple statement confirmed two things for me; I am not an imposter here, and I could end up much further along the path than what I imagine now.   I very much look forward to your future posts here.   I hope that by posing this question I'm not committing you to spoil future posts, but can I ask, why you have settled on Bigender as a label? I keep changing my label and have no idea what it might be tomorrow or next week or next month!

This whole Cass Review thing is breaking my heart. I keep imagining how it must be to be a trans kid in the UK atm. I am halfway through reading the review so that I can effectively refute it if and when people cite it here in Australia.

One thing I took on board from a former boss who was an absolute gentleman and fluent conversationalist but a hopeless leader because he was the classic yes man to his superiors, was to take the emotion out of the equation when arguing. Don't use hyperbole. Don't exaggerate. Stick to what you know and defeat your adversary with logic. Of course, your adversary will double down and make an even bigger fool of themselves, and not even realize that they have lost the argument, nor will they realize that people are laughing at them and not with them. It also helps if you can separate them from their minions.   A conservative elderly uncle, who left school at the age of 12, swears black and blue that taking Ivermectin (sheep dip) prevents Covid because he knew someone who knew someone else who took it and despite that person being momentarily in close contact with people who had Covid, didn't come down with it. "Well, you're the one with the science degree!" I said.   A lot of people argue out of ignorance. They base their points on populism and rumor. I rarely argue, but when I do, it is in an attempt to push back. Another favorite saying that I use is "Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools and believed by idiots." I then ask, "Which two are you?" 😉

Good morning, all!!! Cloudy today with some light rain coming. Not a day to work outside.   I will vacuum the house and the head out to our local hardware store after I get cleaned up. Time to buy a new bird feeder for the back porch.   I'm sorry the job didn't work @KymmieL! Hang in there.   It sounds like a busy time for you at work @Willow. Finding reliable people is so hard these days.   Time for another cup of coffee before I start cleaning!!   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
