Yeah, so I missed the last meeting. But that's not what I'm wondering about.

It looks like this area of the forum is only for Alcohol? Is there a part of the forum (or should there be) for other substances (like the NA part of the group?)??

Juuuust wondering.

;)

I will try to remember Sunday. :D

I tried to check it out a week ago and have been informed that it will reconvene January 2011. If any people in the Playground are thinking about taking the Pledge I guess it'll be open for business. Maybe someone will bring some of the famous cybercookies and coffee we get around here. I took a cruise one time and was one of four at the meeting. Thats when I learned about being there for others. One lady REALLY needed the meeting. I was glad the other three of us showed up...

It's a good place to start, and I thank you for having it. General AA meetings can be quite intimidating when you know you have "other" issues (like sexual ones) that factor on your addictions. At least here, you won't have to worry about getting hostile or predatory responses because your "trans"

Perhaps, instead of "you" I should have used I or me. But I hope you get my meaning.

I am having trouble finding a non religious group to go to for my drinking etc, but at least I can feel comfortable with your online group. I wonder if anyone could suggest a Mineapolis group. I have a friend who needed AA but was so militantly against orginized religion, he did not make much progress. I am more open, but am uncomfortable with the way he described it...

Your friend may have brought his/her prejudices in the door unknowingly...

It isn't a religion tho many who attend end with the lords prayer after the meeting. No belief in Jesus or any other religious figure is required. If it had been, I probably would have left and continued drinking myself to a slow death. All that is asked is to accept the fact that we are unable to stop on our own and are therefor powerless over alcohol. At that point it is each members job to find his/her higher power that can do for the alcoholic what they could not do for themselves... Simple huh?

A.A. PREAMBLE©

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who

share their experience, strength and hope with each other that

they may solve their common problem and help others to recover

from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are selfsupporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with

any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does

not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor

opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and

help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

The Thursday Chat has been cancelled due to lack of participation and moderator availability, but the Sunday bunch is still on Schedule!!

Hi ETS. as Mary Ellen says, you need to click on the chatroom button, make a name, and go the entry portal. You will enter a community chat area where folks hang around an make small talk. A mod will recognize you as new and ask permission to ask a few questions to insure you are not a troll, pedophile etc. It takes 2 minutes. Tell the mod you are going to the substance abuse room to hang out with Vicky, Charlie, Michelle and the others. If you look at the placewhere it says community central, you can scroll down until you see "substance". Its alphbetical btw...

It is often fun with a purpose unless someone is hurting or using. Then we put down the funny stuff and show a little AA love and wisdom... but no preaching.

Hope to see you there :)

I am hoping to get some help in dealing with my gender identity and alcoholism (been clean & sober since Oct '99). If there is any person who would be willing to try online sponsoring I would appreciate it greatly. Hugs!

Crystal, why don't you come to the Sunday night chat at 9:00 EST and join us for a little camaraderie and Recovery. We deal with addiction issues, staying sober and also have fun in Recovery when someone isn't having a hard time of it... If your sobriety date is 1999 I imagine staying sober is not the primary issue. we can relate our experiences with coming out and also your request of an on line sponsor. A separate chat registration is needed and only takes a few moments. It must be done though in order to insure the integrity of the board for the youth here at LP. Hope to see you there. It is anonymous and a keyboard chat, not like skype...

Hugs

Just a note to remind anyone with substance abuse problems that we have an open meeting on the chatrooms at 9 eastern on Sunday evenings. Like many meetings of AA or NA attendance often goes from many to just a few but we've managed to keep the doors open since August of 2007.

Please join us there if you feel you may have a problem.

Hugs,

I’ve recently started my hormone therapy and am in a state of euphoria most days after accepting who I really am and that I want to embrace the most authentic version of my true self.  Like most I have  went through so much confusion and never fitted or felt I fitted into the typical male role . After so many years I now understand who I am and what I need to do for myself to make me feel complete.  I hope I can call on you from time to time for your vast experience and knows to help me navigate my transition?  Thank you Sienna Xx

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and thank you for accepting me into your forum.  I am Sienna, it’s taken a very long time to comprehend and accept what is the most authentic version of myself .  I have recently started my hormone therapy and am looking forward to embracing the slow and gradual changes in my mind and body .  I hope that I find the answers I need in this fantastic group with so many lovely people .    thank you Sienna Xx

Found a very cute black pleated mini skirt yesterday while shopping. It had been placed on a different rack and I never found the "home base". But it happened to be my size and a great price and was right there, so I bought and have been happily wearing it most of today with a soft yellow T-shirt... maybe a bit short for my age but incredibly comfortable...
    • EasyE
Hmm. Interesting thought ... It does seem like it starts get red underneath the patch after I shower ... Where would one get the surgical tape? Regular Pharmacy?

Same here. Although recently, I've been paying more attention to what women wear casually but still have an overtly feminine look. I saw a woman at a locally that had the same pair of ladies' Adidas sneakers I recently bought and looked at how she worked them into her outfit; just yoga leggings with an oversized shirt but she looked really good. Tricky part is getting the perfect shirt length for that type of outfit

Hi, Jayne! I love that sweater!! I'm so happy you took the opportunity to drop by.

My first time out was at a Wal-Mart. I was wearing a black/green black-watch skirt, black turtleneck sweater, green tights and black ankle boots. As I walked through the door it hit me that I'd probably made a tactical error. Instead of blending in, my choice of outfit was so different from the typical Wal-Mart shopper that I drew instant attention.    In the end, I got a nice compliment from a young lady who asked where I'd bought my skirt and smiles from several men.    The vast majority of my wardrobe comes from Talbot's and J. Jill and tends to be less casual than most women wear these days. But, it makes me feel good about myself and gives me confidence in myself....and that can't be a bad thing.

A fairly regular stop when I am going to the big city for a day of feminine self-expression is a “Total Wine” store. The town where I live is quite small, so it lacks a lot of the shopping options of Reno (my big city), and a well-stocked liquor store is one of them. Many of the store clerks have come to know Sally, but one clerk in particular, a sixty-something woman, always makes a big deal about my wardrobe.  She has probably waited on me a half a dozen times, and each time, she asks me “what’s the special occasion? You are dressed so nicely.”  I have always said thanks but never elaborated.    Last weekend, however, while grabbing a bottle of wine, the same woman waited on me, and she asked me again about the special occasion.  This time, I made a point to tell her I wasn’t dressed for anything special, instead, that the way I dress tends to be my preferred style.  I told her it was my nature to be quite particular about my appearance.  And then I leaned a little closer and whispered: “besides, I think I have nice legs and like showing them off,” alluding to the fact that my preferred wardrobe usually includes a skirt, stockings, and heels.   She smiled brightly at my legs comment and then she added: “too bad more people don’t pay closer attention to what they wear.”  Then she went on to tell me how badly some people dress when they come into the store.   I realize, that my wardrobe is generally upscale, and I imagine it gets people’s attention the same way it got the store clerk’s. Most people these days dress with comfort in mind which tends to make me stand out a bit.  That’s okay.  Wearing female business attire as my go to style, makes me happy and helps me feel feminine, even if it does sometimes, force me to explain that I’m not dressing for a special occasion.
    • Jayne
Hi everyone,  hope your all doing well. After a week on holiday with my girlfriend, I'm back. I've got the urge to dress as jayne. I have to get my "fix" whenever I can, tomorrow I'll probably be John again. I'll drop in again. See you all again soon, hugs and kisses 🥰
