So, I know that most of us ME fans have (or are at least very anxious to) play the Extended Cut DLC!

I just wanna know what your opinions are about this new DLC!

WARNING: If you read the paragraph below...or any other comments below you will encounter spoilers! Read at your own discretion!

Personally, I REALLY like this new ending! I think it should have been the original ending! lol My first playthrough of the new DLC I chose the refusal ending. But I really disliked it! :( Everyone dies!! What the hell!! lol So I went back and played that really long ending again and went with my original decision and chose the synthesis ending! It was so beautiful! I started crying though...of course..,when I saw Garrus (my romance) putting up that plaque with my name written on it on the wall of fallen soldiers. My god...this game has made me cry an infinite amount of times but that was amongst the most tear enducing moments! I cried through the whole ending and then like 10 mins afterwards! xD What can I say, I'm a sucker for touching moments! This new DLC did bring a lot...A LOT of closure for me! It wasn't entirely what I would have preferred, though. I would have LOVED to see my femshep and Garrus living together on the beachside after the war with those Krogan babies we spoke about adopting! Or maybe having little Turian/Human hybrid babies?? But the genetics wouldn't work...idk. But, I guess having that ending was wishful thinking, no? lol Ah well.. although it wasn't entirely what I would have preferred, the new ending did bring me closure. And that's all us ME fans were really asking for! :)

What was your experience with the new ending?

Was ok but I needed to see it on youtube since for some reason I wasn't able to play it in my game even after downloaded it and started at the Ceberus base save (sigh...) The extended cut was ok but they still kill the fanchise so I don't really care about it. I'm still unable play my second and third playground. So I won't buy anymore DLC and prequel of ME..

I guess Liara will need to live with the fact my Shepard kill herself by firing an exploding tube too close. <_<

That being said it was a good and a fun trilogy to play. I still put the first game in my top 5 best video game ever.

Too little, too late.

As much as I could not wait for my second playthrough of ME2 and have subsequently played through 5 times so far, this one just left me high and dry with a bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry bioware, but you lost me.

But you still can't argue I relish the time I spent in the universe. After all, my legal middle name is "Liara"

Lol. That IS a very pretty name! Both Liara and Tali are pretty names. I also like the name Wrex (not for myself of course lol).

I don't understand why people are now giving up on Bioware after ME3. I respect people's choice to not continue on with Bioware....I guess it's all just based on interpretation? The way I gather, though, I'm not going to dismiss future Bioware games based on the ending of one of their games, you know? I don't know...I don't understand. But that's neither here nor there so..

Honestly, I was such a huge fangirl of Bioware (I even embraced DA 1 and 2) but after the letdown I felt on the original ending of ME3 and then the staunch "defending of artistic principle" instead of a simple, "yeah, we know we kind of screwed the pooch." that I would have respected much more, it has all come down to an endless supply of multiplayer content with a haphazardly assembled augmentation of an otherwise horrid series of endings to the single player...

Dare I say, 3 felt to me like Gears of War with a far better storyline. (and that isn't saying much.) Even with that said, it really wasn't a bad game in any regard, but with the ending... I dunno. It just left a bad taste in my mouth and there was little that could be done at that point to dismiss my belief that every decision I made in the game, that was supposed to count for something, just didn't.

But yeah, like I said, I won't let that detract from the true awe and amazement I had playing through ME2 and the attachment I had for Liara, Miranda, Kasumi, Thane, Garrus and Mordin. Oh, and of course, the ever smarta~, Joker.

After all, I will carry one of their names FAR beyond any remembrance of the game that birthed it.

I agree with Jaded1, the bad taste I got from ME3's ending was just... Not worth the game. Amazing game, bad ending. My choices led to what? Different coloured explosions?

I did feel that way too, so I totally understand you. The DLC ending, for me at least, left me with some closure. But I totally get what both of you are saying about the decision leading to nothing for the most part. I felt that those decisions were kind of answered with the DLC ending. It worked for me! lol

I feel the DLC ending was better than the original but still not what I wanted. I wanted my Femshep to marry Liara and retire on some island resort planet. Friends could stop by for tea and talk about old times...

I won't give up on Bioware yet. They made a bad mistake was all.

I do like how the DLC has been free and they have kept the multi-player interesting.

Hey all, I'm a Mass Effect fan too and I can't see why some people hate the third game as they do. I love ME2 and have finished it 5 times and ME3 just rocks in my opinion as I love the shooter based action it has. The EC is a massive improvement over the awful endings we got on release day but I won't abandon BioWare and have finished it 3 times and love it. I believe that EA put too tight a deadline and there wasn't enough time to get the game polished properly. The original endings prive that and also, the camera pans into and out of cutscenes just die out after Palaven which also proves that time was tight. BioWare are great, EA are just corporate box shifters.

My favourite class is soldier in ME2 and vanguard in ME3 as they're just total animals. I have always played a custom paragon femshep as I love Jennifer Hale's voice acting. She is excellent whereas male shep sounds monotone and dull. I have got the Leviathon DLC too but haven't actually played it yet. I've only played ME3 on normal difficulty so far and having only died once in the last playthrough I want to try hardcore. It seems like there are about twice as many bad guys although I've only just completed Mars, Cerberus Attack and Eden Prime so it's early days. I'm a vanguard again as I love the carnage you dish out using charge, nova, pull and squad cryo ammo. I romanced Garrus before so may try Kaiden this time as he seems really nice and along with Liara he is my best squadmate. I haven't played MP as I know I wouldn't be very good and I'd probably get kicked off! But yeah, I love these games and will have to play the first game at some point. I know, I know...!

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"
    • Carolyn Marie
Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie
