I've been dancing around the hair removal thing for a long time now, mostly due to the cost involved, but I finally took the plunge.....sort of.

I just sent an e-mail to the clinic I've chosen (after a LOT of research) requesting a consultation. I didn't tell them in the e-mail I was trans, but I suspect I'll have to during the consultation since they mention on the website that different medications can react with the lasers (did not know that). In any case, I'm not worried about that, I just need to get my foot in the door, because what I really need is just to make it real for myself, and a consultation will likely do that.

I said that I have a very tight budget and I'm hoping they can work with me to treat smaller areas per visit so that I can afford to go according to the best schedule, so we'll see what happens. I think they're closed on mondays though so I probably won't hear back until tomorrow.

Woot!

Thanks lol. Definitely big yuk. Some days I'm convinced I could pass if not for that. As long as I don't open my mouth......

This one aspect of transition is really hard, and keeps me from full time at the moment. Count your blessing if laser works for you. I have to do electrolysis ( 2 hours / week).

Yeah, I think either is hit or miss. I've heard others say electrolysis didn't work at all for them, but laser worked a treat, so I think the effectiveness has more to do with the skill of the person treating you and the quality of the equipment than it does the actual method.

There's the hair color thing too. Laser cannot do much on light or grey facial hairs. It needs the darker colors down at the root to reach and destroy the root. But yes, skill of the person treating you is also a huge thing. After just 5 months of electrolysis I can pass much more easily. I'm looking forward to the next 6 months, after which I expect mainly for the neck to be left as the last "big" area to tackle, along with ongoing maintenance of the other areas as new waves of growth come in.

Good luck!

That is great Shilo! Congratz on taking that step at last.

Can't wait to hear how the consultation goes

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).
