I have started using narcotics in the last couple of weeks to ease the emotional pain and depression I'm going through. I do not want to become addicted to this stuff. I'm currently looking for a gender therapist with no luck. I've used Laura's therapist list and have contacted one therapist, waiting for a call back.

Do not stop/think...call a local help line, call your favorite radio station or 911 if you are 'there'. Get a call back from the therapist or keep looking (that's ALWAYS a good course), get creative in a positive way...don't know where in SoCal, I was in L.A. and it's been a looong time, there's places to go/stay sane there  that're cool...even now I'd wager. Just stay safe and know that people really care for you Suzi, no matter where you MIGHT be at the moment...Kelly Ann

Wait! Wait! Wait! Do not use narcotics."YOU DON"T WANT TO BE ADDICTED!!! . Go back, you don't want to be a dead MTF, that would not make you very feminine, but you would be irretrievably DEAD DEAD DEAD> Once DEAD you can't transition , you decompose...... Listen to Kelly Ann and ME!!!! Call for help NOW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dial the help line or 911 that' 911 NOW NOW NOW...........................Mia.

I agree with the above. Drugs, while they temporarily change the way you view life, have no long term positive effect and are only destructive. Please stop using them. You will be able to find a good therapist. Call for help if you can't do this alone. People are willing to help you.

Dear Suzie,

Do you see how many people really care about you?

Listen to them, stop! Right now, not tommorow, not in the next five minutes - now!

April told you that they only offer a temporary relief - but she didn't mention that not only do you have all of the same problems that you did before, but now the even more dangerous one of drug useage!

Don't think that you can do them a little and then just stop and everything will be fine - the morgues are full of people who thought that!

Please get help immediately!

There may be a wait for a gender therapist, but help for drug abusers is available 24/7 without a wait!

Please take care of yourself, you need to stay with us, you can't transition after you are gone!

We do love you, sweetheart, please stay away from drugs and stay with us,

Sally

Thank you girls for your concern. I just called the therapist and we talked a little bit about what is going on. I have my first appointment next Tuesday. Have a friend that I am going to see over the weekend that will help me stay away from the drugs. Have not taken anything since last night.

Susie

You may outlive us - but us here at Laura's - we gonna hav'a HEART ATTACK :o

So STOP THAT right now! I MEAN IT.

Besides, the therapist will have to work with your transgender conflicts AND drug addiction? You ain't never going anywhere with THAT. Therapy will cost you a million dollars and take two hundred years!

So when super depressed - sign on to Chat here at Laura's - find someone and say you are depressed. It's a cheap and absolutely guaranteeeeeeed way to bring yourself up again. I do all the time.

Good luck with your session - keep us posted - talk to your friend

AND LISTEN to all us ole biddies here - remember our tickers aren't what they used to be :P

I already know someone who just started too........and please, from me too...please get help for your drug addiction...even making it to the therapist appointment. MAKE sure you reschedule it.

I don't think I can stand losing more people from drugs...so please, get better. I dunno what else to say... I guess this is one of those time to put all your will into stopping and such. When it's over, you'll come out a very strong person.

Well first off ROCK ON! You spotted a problem and raced straight for help. :)

In Post 1 you say you're trying to supress the emotional pain with drugs. It is one of the worst solutions in actual fact! Imagine running your laptop on full power when its not plugged in. It will function fantasically for a short time but soon the battery will fail and crash!. Nacotics have chemicals that make your body get pumped in the same way, however; the moment the body runs out of rescources... CRASH! Unlike a laptop , your body won't recharge in 30 minutes. Infact it may never recharge again unless you take the drugs. THIS IS THE TRAP once the body becomes physically addicted. Tonnes of damage is done.

AVOID THE TRAP!!

I'm not trying to scare you though :D that's just the pattern.

Your other two posts are great! Stay far away from them love, Life is a party if you let it be B)

*stay strong*

I have also started using pot to help deal with the problems i am having. Trying to find a reasonable therapist, trying to get my life on track with trying to get my career built for when i move to portland. The therapist that i had called in Buffalo NY wants 150 per session which i feel is outragous so it looks like i will have to wait until i move. The pot is only changing the way i feel for the short time the high lasts then all i am left with is square one again.

Not wishing to appear like an overly intelligent Donkey, but are you getting your pot for free?

If not, since the effects are so temporary as you have said, wouldn't it be more productive to put your 'drug money' away and save up for therapy?

Sounding a lot like a mother,

No i usually get an 1/8 but this past week i got a full ounce for 280, It would be more productive to save for therapy but i cant seem to find a good therapist in Buffalo NY.

Them's fighting words, but I intend to discuss this respectfully, calmly and so forth, in accordance with the forum rules.   Considering the one issue below in isolation:   There is a political calculus that trans folk may be better off under Trump than under Biden.  The argument goes that Biden has created such a backlash by moving so far to the left that red states, in particular, are reacting with a swarm of laws that negatively impact trans folk.  Some of his actions strike many people as clumsily forcing unwanted regulation on people, and some of his appointments, such as the luggage stealing bigender individual, have not helped advance trans folk but rather the reverse.  In a second term Biden would make things worse for trans folk because of the backlash and resentment his policies would create.    Trump likely would have negative impacts to trans folk, as he did in his first term with respect to the military, so it is a set of tradeoffs as to which is worse.   Thoughts?

      Can you dress androgynously?

There are trans folk who pass better than some cis people.  People usually aren't on the lookout for those who are cross dressed.  As long as there are no multiple screaming signals and you don't draw attention to yourself you can probably pass better than you think. For example, if you walk into a bank in heels, however, and you DON'T know how to walk in heels, you will attract the attention of a security guard, especially if you are acting nervous. If you wear flats and just go to the bank and do your business like anyone else, it is likely no one will notice, except that there was a customer who was taller than most women are, but then there are tall women, and tall, broad shouldered woman.  I made the mistake years ago of thinking I had outed such, and knew she was a he.  Later I learned she had five kids, and her husband was bigger than she was.  Ooops.

I don't know much about CNAs.  They report to an RN, right?  Can you somehow bring this up to the RN in a way that does not get your CNA mad at you? I'm not saying you should, but maybe that is a good course of action.
    • Abigail Genevieve
This is the thing.  A month ago tomorrow is when I stopped wearing m clothing.  Today I feel great.  I do not have dysphoria when I am dressed as and I move as a woman.  I was just thinking about that because I was wondering if I would or will get hit with a wave of "you don't have dysphoria so you might as well dress like a guy. Less hassle with your wife."  Not that she is aware, to my knowledge, that these androgynous clothes are women's.  No desire to "flip", no feeling of need to, just happy identifying as female.  Speaking, in my deep guy voice, with female voice patterns, doing the feminine gestures that come naturally and without exaggeration and at peace.
    • Birdie
Yes, my brother was born lactating due to absorbing hormones from my mum.    Of course she isn't a nurse, she is a CNA. She should however still have general medical knowledge.
    • Abigail Genevieve
I agree.  But sometimes unethical conduct must still be legal, because the cure would be worse than the disease.  One problem we have today with the internet is the trolls can gang up on someone and destroy them - we see the with school bullying as well.   He was in the Southern Baptist Convention, and maybe he should have moved his church over to say the American Baptists, who might have been able to help him. A Southern Baptist pastor is king in his church, peerless, which means he could not have gone for help in his church.  And he could not have gone for help from any other pastor in the SBC because they likely affirm the SBC statements on these matters.  I think he was stuck.    I read this when it came out in the news.  Very sad situation.

One organization that I know of that is dedicated to assisting LGBT seniors is SAGE.  They advocate for, and have services for, all LGBT folks, not just trans folk.  You can find their website Here.  I am not sure what, if anything, they have in terms of financial assistance.  I'll let you know if I find anything else.   Carolyn Marie

This was an angle that I was very suspicious of as well, and may be the hook on which the settlement was hung.      Not at all strange especially if they had former patients who moved there that still owed money on their bills or they were buying hospital supplies from a Texas corporation. They may have business licenses in other states as well.  Small loss, but saxeT shot itself in the foot there since the license was a source of income to the state.
    • RaineOnYourParade
Nah it's fine, I'm past the point of really blaming them most of the time. I've gotten used to it, and they could be a whole lot worse.   I'm glad you have a good place, though <3

I wonder about the professional knowledge level here.  Men have milk ducts.  She, as a nurse, should know this.  This is interesting  https://www.livescience.com/45732-can-men-lactate.html  Yes, men can lactate and have lactated, trans or cis.  The idea that Birdie does not have milk ducts or tissue is just plain wrong.  Her statement indicates that she has not looked at the medical record, which she should be familiar with to treat the patient.
    • Ivy
Trans women can lactate under the right conditions. But that's not even the case in your situation.  It's so stupid how they simply refuse to accept your reality.
