The FUN of Re-Starting Hormones after SRS

On the 17th of July I was given the go ahead to restart my Hormones, that I had been off of for 6 weeks.

I do miss the ability to sleep the entire night without having to get up every two hours to "Pee". Thank you Spiro for bringing the need to go to the bathroom every two hours back.

I am now having almost constant Hot and Cold Flashes again. Another thing I do not miss.

Thank you Cimetidine for taking away the Indigestion that I have had since I arrived in Thailand. :score:

Did any of you Ladies experience any of these things when you restarted your hormones?

/Love

I am not post SRS but have learned to take my spiro as early in the afternoon as practical. I usually take it around 5 so when i head to bed i'm a little emptier already.

Hugs,

Charlie

Hi Valerie,

I didn't restart Spiro afterwards, having no need for T suppression or the diuretic effect of it. But, I still get up to pee in the middle of the night anyway.

I just think I'm obsessed with urination, myself. It was one of those things that was a most frequent reminder of my unwanted anatomy before, now a pleasant reminder of what is right down there instead.

I'm using injectable E, but didn't have notable withdrawal symptoms from it. I did notice the T coming back, with oily skin, hair loss, etc and was happy when those effects fell away after surgery removed those nasty T factories.

Love, Megan

Charlie;

I take my spiro in the morning and then again in the evening after dinner.

Megan;

Unfortunately my Endo was out of the Office with a medical issue three weeks before I left to Thailand and will not be back in the office until the middle of September. So, I am currently taking the PRE-SRS Hormones.

The fun of starting all over, or so it feels like it.

Yes, I noticed the oily skin, hair loss and the ease of getting upset over nothing.

Yes, I agree about the pleasant reminder about what is no longer there.

Unless you have hypertension issues, I'd guess your endo will likely terminate your spiro very soon. Hopefully that will be a thing of the past since you no longer have the means of producing the testosterone.

After my GCS spiro was stopped because the T factories were gone, i had slight hot flashes occasionally for a day or two after i restarted estradiol then they were gone, i was off estradiol for about 4 weeks, unless you have other medical conditions that require you to still be on spiro can you call your surgeon and get his advise as to whether you still need to take spiro.

I was off the Spiro for 14 days before surgery, and my major issue was grumpiness and BP up about 5 notches from where it had usually been. My use of Spiro is for the high blood pressure as well as the anti-T qualities. The spiro was restarted with my first set of morning meds the day after surgery and I was told to go back to my earlier dose. Blood pressure got back to my general range by the end of the day.

Dr. Bowers does not take her patients off of Estrogen completely before the surgery, and my normal dose was below her threshold, so until the morning of the surgery I was able to use it. I was only off of it completely the day of surgery and until 2am the second day after surgery. (36 hours) At that point I was given twice my normal dosage until I had the packing and catheter removed and was told I could head on back south to my home. My endo had been called and she had let me know to take her dose when that happened. Net result was that I did not really have time to miss the estrogen, and I was too darn miserable anyway to have noticed.

I'm not sure why you're still taking Spiro. Trust me, when you get your first bloodwork back and see where your T levels are, you'll see why spiro serves no purpose for you except to keep your blood pressure low and make you pee.

Here's my take on the issue of stopping hrt before surgery:

It was no big deal. I really didn't notice it at all except that I had some resurgence of body hair growth. So it goes. I think it's a big deal if you make it one.

But then again, I spent the last two weeks before surgery meditating constantly to remain calm in the face of the storm of pre-surgery anxiety I was feeling (aside from a vasectomy, I had not had anything like a surgery before and had never been knocked out)

Like Vicky I saw Dr Bowers, in my case several years ago, and did not have to stop estrogen. My FFS surgeon also let his patients stay on HRT. I have been on continuous HRT for almost a decade now. I use injectables, so what I did was inject the day before I went for SRS and then again the day after I got back. As I've said many times: I'll stop taking estrogen the day they pry the vial out of my cold, dead hands.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

This topic reminds me of the lyrics to the Beatles song, "A Little Help From My Friends."   "What do you see when you turn out the lights?"   "I can't tell you but I know it's mine."   Carolyn Marie

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

      No problem!

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

I am in too good a mood to earn my certificate today. I am sure something will happen that will put me on the path to earning it.

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".
