Needing help finding the perfect makeup for my husband

I have heard that MAC and NYX are great for men. But, are there any cheaper brands out there that won't break the bank too much?? *I* use MAC and NYX for myself and I wish my husband and I were the same skin tone so we could just share. I went to Sephora last night to check out the lines of makeup they carry and they had a nice selection, and I almost purchased a few things, but my husband stopped me because he didn't want to spend that amount. I'm looking for any frugal tips anyone has to offer! He can be a little cheap at times, but I KNOW Cover Girl and brands of the like just won't give him the results he wants!
Also, are there any good makeup tutorials that he could learn from? My background is in cosmetology, but he doesn't want ME to show him proper makeup techniques. And really, I'm relieved because I have never done makeup on a man's face before.

To begin with, anything from the corner drug store will do fine, since you will probably use stuff once or twice and decide it is not "just right" as you probably did as a teen. Other than a little extra blue / black beard coverage , which can be done with a Brick Orange lipstick under Cover Girl foundation treat your spouse's (I cannot use male pronouns here in this situation) face as any other woman's with whatever you want to do. Your spouse will probably go happy-crazy with just facial creme for mositurizing for a while. Subtle and feels great. Otherwise, nothing to do for her that you do not do for yourself. Dove bath bar and bubble bath are fine for either birth gender.

The beard cover and learning how to subtly use shadows to reshape the face are the major differences. If you have training in cosmetology then I am sure you will be a great help. She will become a little less independent I suspect when she struggles and you can offer real help.

You tube has some great tutorials, the only caution is that often they conflict on their advice. So get some ideas and have fun playing.

Hugs

A few inexpensive brands that wont "brake the bank" are E.L.F. and LA Colors. I like E.L.F. eye shadow and eye liner. Havnt used there lipstick so dont know much about that. I dont know if there is much of a dif in price from state to state but I get mine at Walmart for $1. cant get much cheaper then that. As for the LA Colors I pick that up at the dollar store but can find that just about anywhere that sells makeup. I used that when I was still looking for my "look"

Have fun and play around till she finds the look she likes.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for the help and tips. I use a lot of ELF products myself. I bought some concealer this weekend and it just didn't give my spouse the great coverage like we were both expecting. I did her makeup this weekend and it was the very first time she used makeup since she was 8 years old and was caught by her mom. 31 years later, she felt GREAT! No more masks!!!
I tried my hardest to give her the look she desired, but I failed. Thankfully, we have the rest of our lives together to perfect her look! I have looked up some tutorials on YouTube over the weekend, and noted some tips and tricks. I think for Xmas this year I'll invest in some good product so she can feel most comfortable in her skin.

P.S. I apologize for the improper use of pronouns. This is so very very new to me :)

I don't understand how if it's wrong to block care for 2 people, it's still okay to block it for everyone else.   But of course I'm not a lawyer/s   "He said minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria "deserve love, support, and medical care rooted in biological reality.""    The thing is, they don't believe we actually exist.

Good morning,   Put on my favourite new Rock band Tee from Torrid and some shorts.  I am just about ready to go spend my day at the stuffy day-centre after I get done soaking my feet.

4 months doesn’t seem such a long time now compared to the times I was previously looking at! 🙂   Many thanks to @Karen Careyfor pointing me towards GenderCare, they have been nothing but helpful and professional, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without them.

Love is a mix of feelings and actions that shows a deep liking for someone or something. Love involves caring for another. Romantic love can lead to things such as dating, marriage and sex, but a person can also feel for friends, such as platonic love, or family. There are also chemical reactions within the brain that can be triggered by the different types of love.

Good morning, everyone!! I'm still battling the Worst Head Cold Ever. Just when I think I've turned the corner, it smacks me back down. If you've got stock in tissues, I'm driving up your profits.   Our early Spring has the grass growing quickly. I need to get out today and cut it before it grows over the house. Today is supposed to be sunny and mid-60s so I'll suck up not feeling great and get the mowers out. At least I'll be in the sunshine for a few hours. The next few days are supposed to be rainy so it's today or wait until the weekend.   Time for a second cup of coffee!!   Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Welcome Mattie.  When i got here i was at a point bin my journey when i was discovering my path.  Writing about it and reading about others helped me greatly as did gender therapy.  Perhaps the hardest thing was finding self acceptance without feeling guilt at simply being me. Enjoy your time here.  You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I picked a cancellation spot with Dr Lorimer yesterday and had my consultation a month early.  I had been worried about how it would go, but the process of exchanging information was nothing to worry about and I felt quite at ease throughout.  That’s not to say some parts weren’t challenging to articulate clearly, but Dr Lorimer’s manner helped enormously.   The GI/GD diagnosis was such a welcome conclusion to it all, and such an important milestone in my journey.   Now for the Endo consult waiting…
