Ok ladies and gentlemen. I just got home from my appointment with my new counselor. I have to say I am a bit surprised. It started off with her asking me to bring her up to speed from my perspective where I was at and where I hope to go. She showed me the work up done in the preliminary . Well it is about 6 pages long and quite detailed lol. She wanted to get to know me from me as opposed to what her colleagues first look provided. I am pleasantly surprised.

I am also giddy to report that she is looking into a few things for me. First she is getting me set up with a group sessions with a group at the VA hospital. And y=they meet on of all days Wednesdays so I don't miss any work. She is going to set me up with a session with her every other Wednesday to see her even though she doesn't think it is needed. But she agrees it will look great to the powers to be. She likes the idea that I will keep her abreast of the things going on as well as keep me up to speed on all new choices.

She has also informed me as soon as I go full time she will get all the appropriate notices out to all concerned so as to changed all the prefixes I guess its called . You know him to her and sir to ms and refer to me by the name I choose for myself. I have chosen my name as well. Partly due to all you ladies and gentlemen on here. I will be called Kalie Aowynn Gambill. I kinda like the name Kalie. She is also going to set me up with a speech therapist to learn to sound female. That will also be on Wednesday so I will not loose any work hours over this. I just need to see how work will deal with it. She says they can not discriminate against me for this but we all know how this stuff works out sometimes.

They are also going to arrange for a letter to be written by the lead specialist and head of the department for me to carry in case there is a frackus over me being in the ladies restroom while dressed as myself. She will consult the doctors in charge of handling the hormones part of all this and see what their requirements are. She doesn't think there would be any reason for me to go full time and have the HRT running in tandem. She thinks that might be the better way to go since I am so sure lol. I think I should refer to her by her name rather than she lol . She is Sue Delence, LCSW. Sue is a real compassionate woman and will be a real big help and part of my transition as all of you have and will forever be.

Congratulations - that sounds really good - she sounds nice.

It is good that you have found someone like that. The future will be more relaxed and easier to handle.

Sounds like you hit a home run with this counselor. I know if feels good to you to not only have a plan but also having an advocate on your side helping to remove speed bumps for you and looking out for your well being.

Way to go!

Hugs

Your therapist sounds a lot like mine and I love my therapist! Getting on well with a therapist makes it so much easier, for me at least, to open up and discuss things.

Congratulations, Kalie!
