1st laser session

Recommended Posts

I went to my first laser hair session yesterday Sat SEPT 26 and found it to be a somewhat pleasant experience as it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. it was just the nape of my neck and under my chin an there was only a little redness after which this morning is gone. Certainly not what stop shopping as the results will reveal themselves over the next couple of months. The back seems to be the area that it had the best results as it it was a new machine with a vacum component to it plus my hair there is darker.
One more person has an insight to my mission as after I told her that I wanted her to understand that I wanted to achieve full facial feminization in whatever time it takes and to whatever extent I can afford.

In short I liked it and I like this path.

PS the side benefit is the night before I had an situation with the band leader and friend I work with and rather than blowing off the band and the friendship I dealt with it all because I had decided to use my music money to finance my transition.

Thank you higher power! And thank you female self!

Perfect example of step 3. Working in tandem from within to join with the without.

Hi Cerise,

I am happy you had a good experience!

I have a consultation scheduled, which they charge for, did you experience that as well?

Most of my facial hair is light, but the the darker hair is the most difficult to cover so I think it would be worth it.

Hi Jamie
They didn't charge for the first consultation and it didn't really take that long. 5 min tops, and the a couple of min to make the appointment.
I was surprised how short the 1st session was. About 15 min but its a bundle of 6 so maybe thats why and about 60 a visit.
I think the nape which was under the chin as well was worth it even if I wasn't transitioning.
I will know tomorrow how effective it was but still when I shaved today, under the neck quick and easy

Question, and I see conflicting things on the internet-- laser is usually permanent, but is there is a chance it will come back? Or is it just they never bothered to get FDA approval to say it is permanent. I am wondering cause that is something that comes up every once in a while and I've seen different answers (like that electrolysis is the only FDA approved permanent method). The key here being FDA approved.

It is my understanding that laser will require several treatments on the same area to achieve what I would consider a dosired result and also the occasional followup session on that area. It is only good for dark hair with a light skin complextion absent from tanning. My gray hairs or lighter hairs will require electrolysis for removal.

A site called Hair Facts has almost too much info on all methods of hair removal and is where I found a lot of the clues to make a decision.

For instant I changed to the ladies brand of razor that was recimemded etc.

Electrolysis has been discussed and part of the hair removal plan.

Wow! I changed Laser Clinics and started yesterday on the whole front face and neck areas. Zap, zap. Yipes!.

I love my new tech and the TG part of the conversation was just that, part of the pre treatment conversation and not an issue.

I am pretty sure this is doing something and although I though the aftermath was going to be me hiding out for a day there was nobody who really noticed any redness nor did I detect anyone looking at my face while talking to me.

The upper lip as mentioned in other posts was " Holy Moley!" and that area actually takes more zaps and I go back in 2 weeks for the upper lip alone.

The good side is that it is quite fast and the adrenalin rush afterwards that last the rest of the day almost compensates.

As an added piece of information, those girls who want to get their bikini line done it's supposed to be much more painful.

cheers Cerise

PS Not hairless yet but getting there.

Yesterday was my second full face session and maybe I got the shaving right this time or something but it was eye watering.

I going to keep going though as it's noticeable. As a useful piece of info the areas of under my chin, neck and back of neck which I had done through 6 previous sessions and with another provider were almost free of dark hairs yesterday.

All good news.

I've had 3 sessions and shaving has gotten much easier. Still hurts, especially the upper lip!!!!

I have finished 4 sessions including the touch ups sessions that come with each main session.

Definately showing in the areas that it wasn't before.

Just waiting till this coming Saturday as it is the 10 day mark from my last visit.'

Yes it does hurt, but no one has noticed the redness afterwards so that has been a relief.

Electrolysis is around the corner and from what my tech says its more of the same but different and longer.

PS ... Not one person has commented as to where my shadow is going. Not even the phobics!

So far Hair Removal and Hrt has not been the boogie man I thought it would be.

So glad I have been going through my fears.

Cheers Cerise

For my part, and the questions about Laser. No... not permanent... for everyone.

My experience, by session 7, also 6 months hrt, my face looked great. However, my E was through the roof. Dr. lowered dose, T went up and about 40% of my facial hair returned. Another 8 sessions of laser lowered it, but at 2 years hrt today, I still pluck and laser (home laser) my face each week. (Can't afford electrolysis at this juncture).

It's better, and may work for some people...but it didn't get rid of the hair :\

Cerise this is good, keep it up!  Apply ice to your face for a bit afterwards to minimize swelling and redness.  I use ice in a zip lock bag, alternating with a wet washcloth.

After 50 hours of electrolysis my face looks great, with still more to go.  Even though I was quickly able to relax to a  point it wasn't unbearable now that my T is low it seems to be hurting more.  This is to be expected from what I've been told.  Never did laser as I'm mostly white haired and everything I read says its not permanent.

I phoned an Electrologist in the early days and since I am dark with grey or white hairs, the plan of action was to use laser to get rid of the dark hairs and then shift to Electrolysis for the remainder.

The Electrologist and the Laser tech know each other so its all one big happy family although not under the same roof.

Women see electrologists as does my tech so i get the idea this is one of those things that is just part of being a woman.

Good thing I look forward to it.

not the pain but the moving forward and that rush when the session is over.

Just put on some makeup for the first time in a while (summer heat and makeup...yuck!) and although the shadow is still there the upper lip and an chin look way better.

Cheers Cerise

And there are easy ways to hide that shadow, while waiting for it to be gone. You can use a red or orange color on the shadow, before your foundation. There are tutorials on this technique, on youtube.

I am at 8 laser sessions and 2 half hour electrolisis. All I have left are a few stubborn dark hairs, light hairs, and red hairs. I can go with out make-up on and still pass (which is wonderful on some days--like helping a friend move).

I am liking the effects and appearance of the laser sessions and when I stand and look in the mirror in the many elevators that I ride as part of my job , I like what I see.

Thanks Mae.  She was an amazing friend and I grew to love her like a sister.

I did Ashley.  Non-rev travel was one of the major factors for taking the job.  At the time, US Airways had the best non-rev policy in the industry.  It cost $10 to fly coach and $25 to fly first class.  We flew first class whenever there were seats available.

You should have a moderator fix what you meant to write as "birth certificate".  Ooops.   I've gone over that verse and am wholly and completely dissatisfied with the SBC exegesis of it, so much so that it was one of the things that helped me break out of a mindset of guit.  Sometime I may strut by stuff as a Hebraist and show what it really means.

I found this   — 450 — Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise Goal #1: Protecting Life, Conscience, and Bodily Integrity. The Secretary should pursue a robust agenda to protect the fundamental right to life, protect con- science rights, and uphold bodily integrity rooted in biological realities, not ideology. From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development, race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care. A robust respect for the sacred rights of conscience, both at HHS and among gov- ernments and institutions funded by it, increases choices for patients and program beneficiaries and furthers pluralism and tolerance. The Secretary must protect Americans’ civil rights by ensuring that HHS programs and activities follow the letter and spirit of religious freedom and conscience-protection laws. Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike. The next Secretary must ensure that HHS programs protect children’s minds and bodies and that HHS programs respect parents’ basic right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children.   https://static.project2025.org/2025_MandateForLeadership_CHAPTER-14.pdf   First, that is not much, if that is all that is of concern.  Secondly, I have seen all sorts of anti-Trump slander, including the Steele dossier and the lawfare he is now undergoing, to be cynical of any criticism against him, and indirectly this document.    He deserves some of what he is getting, but not all.  Thirdly, I bolded one statement of concern.   I don't think gender identity is subjective.  "Radical actors" is name calling, and there is a lot of that going around.  Maybe I am not seeing everything of concern or reading this right, but i would discuss with the author of this document concerning this.

Good evening   well I finally finished reading my textbook.  Yeah.  But I still have a lot more to go for the class.     My endocrinologist always asks me about lactation.  And yes I have had some very small amounts of leakage but not on any regular basis.  I figure I blocked the discharge Duce when I pierced my nipples with scare tissue.  But who knows.  I also get asked about mammograms.  I e had my first or baseline and this fall I will need to schedule my second.   As someone in the midst of studying the Old Testament, I can say that I haven’t found any mention of pending damnation for being transgender or intersex.  The closest it comes is a verse that says men should not wear women’s clothing.  Now I don’t know each and everyone’s particulars, but I know I meet the medical definition of female gender, and even in Ohio, a State that until recently refused to allow bitch certificates to be changed, I meet the criteria.  Therefore I can only conclude I am not a man wearing women’s clothing.  But there is a somewhat different scholarly explanation of that law that it should not be taken as literally as the haters want.  Mostly men should not pretend to be women to ex ape from their enemies. Or tried to hide from God.     willow

Well, the left wing has been doing that.    I read a few things while trying to find out what the problem is and liked what I read.  But I am a conservative.    Is there something specific in there that is of concern?  Does it promise somewhere to erase trans folk? That would be problematic.
    • Ivy
It's a plan to basically completely take over the government by the right wing.

I'm actually in Asheville tonight.  Some of the people in the support group invited me for dinner after the meeting.  We're going to get together again tomorrow again. It's been nice, 4 trans women and 1 trans man, together ar a restaurant.

I found https://www.project2025.org/policy/   I will have to read it.  I have not.  What is of concern?   The link provided earlier goes back to this forum.

My parents were life long Democrats.
    • Ivy
'Nuff said. Yeah I'm not thrilled with Biden either. There are some conservative ideas I'm good with.  And I do feel that the current Democratic party is too cozy with the bankers and wealthy.  But despite all their talk, when it comes down to it, so are the Republicans.  And it's not the Dems calling for our eradication. Unfortunately, I see this election as existential for trans folks.

Good evening everyone,   @Birdie your CNA Is ill informed about breast and proper bra fitting.   My wife and I are checking out a campground up in Michigan just a little North of Saginaw, MI. We had a great meal at a local tavern serving delicious perch fillet dinner.   We’re going to check out the Saginaw,MI Bay area for summer time activities for when we come back on occasion. We belong to a camping club call Adventure Outdoors and have free camping at their resorts around Michigan and Ohio.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I agree.   Biden has been known to switch positions without notice, whether on abortion, Gaza or gay marriage.  Most of what he has done has been via executive order and decision, so it does not carry the force of lasting law and can be easily reversed.  I really do not trust him at all.   Trump says a lot of things.  He switches his position all the time.  Most of what he wants to do will require legislation to accomplish, some of which will simply never become law.  I do not trust him at all.   I'm not sure which is worse for trans people specifically because of this, and the fact that the other issues that surround trans folk which I attempted to isolate this question from, but here I go :) also affect trans people along with everyone else.   In either case trans folk need to be prepared.
    • Carolyn Marie
I'm certain that there are some, if not many, but you would be hard pressed to find them willing to speak up on this forum.  There are many trans folk who are conservative, and believe that Biden's non-trans related policies are terrible.  Those include his economic, foreign policy, border security, and environmental policies.  I'm a lifelong Democrat, and even I don't like all of Biden's policies.  It comes down to who would do the most damage to the most people, and the most damage to America as a going democratic nation which has respect for the rule of law.   Carolyn Marie
