Women and transgendered persons are the subject of attacks. Make sure when you go out, you buddy up and/or stay in well-lit areas with quick access to you vehicles. There are and will always be people who cannot accept us, and we don't want to give them the opportunity to abuse us. None of us want to wind up like the poor woman attacked in D.C. The following article is found on advocate.com. (http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid48893.asp)

Listen everybody, Sophie Jean is right: Buddy up and stay in well lit areas. This is important. I'm not trying to scare anyone unnecessarily. But really, isn't it better to be safe than sorry? My family trips on me because I do most everything alone at night. But I'm a night owl and I don't know anyone. I have been attacked and hospitalized many times. I could tell you some real horror stories. I'm not saying the world is an awful place. [insert Marge Simpson noise] But seriously, be safe and keep your wits about you… just in case. Don't make me send you to your room. OXO.

Hoping you are safe…

"Witnesses told". I love those lines. I really hope at least one came to her aid or tried. -_-

yeah, it's a scary world. Even if you aren't trans you still run the risk of being assaulted like that. on the edge of campus 3 kids were mugged the other week. You really aren't safe anywhere.

i thought i'd share this with you. i find this troubling. it's less than 100 miles from me. there are very bad people out there. i'm not going to let something like this deter me though. i'm not sure if i can post this here but here goes.

Two transgender people attacked in Michigan

In what appears to be a possible anti-transgender hate crime, police in Pontiac, Mich., are searching for two men in connection with an assault that nearly killed one victim. The two transgender women, ages 46 and 54, were attacked early Wednesday morning outside their home in downtown Pontiac, according to a report in The Oakland Press. "It appears that a vehicle followed them home," said Pontiac police sergeant William Ware. "They had left a bar downtown. The person [who attacked them] was calling them names and taunting them." An incident outside the Liberty Bar on Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac may have involved the attackers, said Ware.

A friend of the victims, Cindy Kemp, told the paper that attacks on gays and transgenders have been rare in Pontiac. Crystal Witt, a victims' advocate of the Michigan gay rights group Triangle Foundation, also said Pontiac has not been the scene of such hate crimes. Kemp said the viciousness of the attack was easily apparent. Both victims were knocked unconscious, the paper reported. The 54-year-old victim was beaten so badly that "every part of her head was bruised or scraped or cut," Kemp said. "And she had two black eyes, a fracture in her lower eye socket and her jaw, and boot marks you can see down by her spleen." The second victim suffered 15 broken bones in her face, resulting in a weeklong hospital stay, the paper reported. (Advocate.com)

thats so mean. how could someone do that to another person? i hope their doing alright now.

The sad fact is that ignorant people fear what they don't understand, they hate that they feel fear so they kill/beat/maim what causes them to feel this sense of fear.

I work in DC so this kind of hits close to home. Does anybody know what part of DC this happened in?

Some areas of DC are still very rough, and even in broad day light I will not go through and if I have to I won't stop fort he red lights; I'll pay tickets over stopping in the intersection in some of these places.

My prayers are with her.

Natalie

What is a perfect day for you?

Love is a mix of feelings and actions that shows a deep liking for someone or something. Love involves caring for another. Romantic love can lead to things such as dating, marriage and sex, but a person can also feel for friends, such as platonic love, or family. There are also chemical reactions within the brain that can be triggered by the different types of love.

Good morning, everyone!! I'm still battling the Worst Head Cold Ever. Just when I think I've turned the corner, it smacks me back down. If you've got stock in tissues, I'm driving up your profits.   Our early Spring has the grass growing quickly. I need to get out today and cut it before it grows over the house. Today is supposed to be sunny and mid-60s so I'll suck up not feeling great and get the mowers out. At least I'll be in the sunshine for a few hours. The next few days are supposed to be rainy so it's today or wait until the weekend.   Time for a second cup of coffee!!   Stay safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!

Welcome Mattie.  When i got here i was at a point bin my journey when i was discovering my path.  Writing about it and reading about others helped me greatly as did gender therapy.  Perhaps the hardest thing was finding self acceptance without feeling guilt at simply being me. Enjoy your time here.  You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I picked a cancellation spot with Dr Lorimer yesterday and had my consultation a month early.  I had been worried about how it would go, but the process of exchanging information was nothing to worry about and I felt quite at ease throughout.  That’s not to say some parts weren’t challenging to articulate clearly, but Dr Lorimer’s manner helped enormously.   The GI/GD diagnosis was such a welcome conclusion to it all, and such an important milestone in my journey.   Now for the Endo consult waiting…

This one is NOT over, and this is not a final final ruling on the matter since this was a procedural and not substantive ruling based on scientific evidence.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-allows-enforcement-idaho-ban-gender-affirming-care-trans-rcna141209     6-3 decision, of course.  The conservative Justices really don't give a damn who gets hurt, as long as it's "just" trans kids.  This is what we can expect, going forward.    Carolyn Marie

I am on a three month review cycle for dosage. Do you have a plan with your doctor? I didn't discuss overall strategy when I got my prescription, it was a very long appointment. I was able to ask via web message to get a better idea; we'll check blood every 3 months and titrate accordingly. I don't know if we'll change labs to 6mo after a year or not, but that's where I'm at now. I, too, was like "is this enough?" at the start. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but I've seen positive results during the months at a lower dose and continue to notice changes. For instance, my skin sensitivity is much higher. I always wondered why my wife was so ticklish, but I'm starting to understand why. I'll bet I am 20-40% more sensitive to touch than I was before; gently tickling my arm (I would wake up doing this sometimes, up and down my arms) now makes my fingers tingle...in a good way. :)

@mattie22 Welcome to the Forums Mattie.  Our basic view here is that if you have any questions about your gender then you are not Cis Gender and belong here for that reason alone, because if you are not Cis, then you are someplace in the Trans and/or Non Binary part of the world, and on this site, that is simply who is here, Trans and NB folks!  Be comfortable and do not be afraid to ask questions here, or even give answers to others from your own experience.
