She must have really wanted them to retrieve you, @ElizabethStar . The other 'she/her' talk? That'd make me want to accompany my spouse everywhere!

Lots of good stuff in that story.  It sounds like your wife's acceptance doesn't run in a straight line...like a graph that ultimately goes upward, but is kinda jagged along the way.

A few minutes later I got a call from my wife. The Dr. Ok'ed me coming in back and they were sending someone to get me. As I'm hanging out by the door a nurse comes outs and wanders for moment, finds her way to me, looks at me an says, Liz?   Yea, that's me. -what the heck- just happened? My wife has promised to forever dead-name me. No one there except the doctor knows my name and I doubt he remembers it. So she had to of told them to look for Liz. Right? Later after the appointment she asked if I had noticed the name they used when looking for me. So she did tell them.  Of course I noticed. It seems something else has changed.

My guess would be a realization of, "Nobody is agreeing with me. Maybe I'm wrong?" Good on her. Good on the nurse and like I keep telling you, you look just like a skinnier version of my sister-in-law. She's never mentioned anybody mis-gendering her so I think you're stuck with being "Liz the woman." Congratulations!

Hugs!

You do and thank you.  After the last time, something clicked and I'm starting to see the real me in the mirror and in my self image.

Good morning everyone,

The work life at home is coming to an end, and returning to in office work. My Suzie is going back two and a half days a week, I'm starting to book travel training dates. We normally do 3 to 4 travel trainings a month, and last year COVID2020 Homeland security canceled all of our contracts with them. We only did 5 travel training all of last year, to date we have 10 agencies booked for travel dates, and many more waiting to see what their state, county, or city will be doing.

Coffee as usual is HOT, black, and strong.:coffee:

Hugs,

Mindy???

Congratulations Liz I’m so happy to hear that.

I got word from hr at my work yesterday that she had had meetings with everyone that needed to know and that the meetings went well. The ceo even showed up and spoke. They said I have the full support of my company. I’m giggly and giddy needless to say. So when I go back to work everything will be different. I’m officially full time. I also sent my name change paperwork to the courthouse via certified mail yesterday.

@ElizabethStar This sounds like a wonderful experience for you (except for your wife's insistence).  Validation is so nice.

So much good stuff here. Having full support of an employer is life changing.

I know what you mean. I am more out at work than I am at home. Sad to say.

Things are happening, today. I just got off the phone with the district manager in the Spokane area. While he said that he does have a person for the store manager in Deer Park. He does think he has a place for me to transfer too. That store manager is on vacation this week. So he will get with him and discuss me and see about getting me into another store. I explained just why I am wanting to move it seems like he does understand.

?fingers crossed, toes crossed and even eyes crossed.

Got my first Covid shot today.   I drove up to Asheville.  At least I did get out of the house for a bit.  Beautiful weather here today.

My yard is full of limbs.  The power co. is clearing the lines along the road.

My neighbor came over and she helped me get some of the bigger pieces out for firewood.  She moved nextdoor around the time I started coming out publicly, and has been pretty chill about it all.  We haven't really talked much about that specifically, which I suppose might be a good thing.   She just seems to accept me as is.

I saw my therapist for the first time today. Almost an hour and a half drive. It was so worth it. She was awesome. She's a transwoman. She knows exactly how I feel and is willing to help me. I feel that this is going to be really good.

Her name is Diane Alexander in Savoy Illinois. With the Keri Powell therapy group. She is also in Humana PPO network which has a $40.00 copay. Does teleconferencing also.

It went great! I have the approval from my Primary Dr and will have the letter from my therapist in the next week or so. Can’t get into my endocrinologist until June so that’s kind of disappointing. But what can you do right?

I actually have family in Savoy. Glad you found a great therapist!

@Jamie68 It sounds like you found a good thing.  Long drive, but worth it, I know.  I can't Imagine doing this without my therapist.  That's a significant step.

The baby shower at work went OK I guess. TBH it was a little boring. We sat around for 20 minutes waiting on food. After we ate the mother-to-be opened the gifts. There's a breast feeding kit called the THE TIT KIT, who knew? Seems rather bold for a product name and then there's lactation cookies (?). I don't know how much of this I need or really want to learn about. It's like studying for a test I'll never take. I was over dressed compared to the other ladies but several did tell me I looked really nice.

Change of topic.

At the end of last night I asked my wife what was up with her using my name when the nurse came looking for me since she promised to dead-name forever. She said she's testing-the-waters. So we're definitely making progress on that front.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

@Ivy have you read the actual document?   Has anyone else out there read it?
    • Abigail Genevieve
I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Old topic, but I gotta say my favorites are: "Stop hitting on minors" (doesn't work if you're holder tho) and "Sure as [squid] not you"

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie

It's likely most cis-women consider a fitting unnecessary "because they know what  they wear" and get used to the wrong size.  The instructions for what your size is are simple and why go to any further effort?  You measure your bandsize and you measure your max and subtract the two to get the needed info for the cup size.  Then you buy the same size for years until it hurts or something.

Congratulations Lorelei! Yes, it is a powerful feeling to have the documents that say "you are you".
