75 here in Maryland. It's kinda strange how the topography works here. You can have very cool areas (Bethesda) and several degrees hotter in others (Takoma Park). Bethesda will get a ton of snow, Takoma Park won't, they experience more of the lake effect, more even temperatures all year round, than we will.

I used to drive 65 miles to get to work. I went through 3 different weather pattern areas. I love variety though. I really miss the drive at times now that i'm retired. I still tend to get up early even after 3 years. Between 4 and 5.

Speaking of coffee... My afternoon, help-me-make-it-to-the-weekend mug. I got this staying at the Stanley Hotel in room 217 (the same one from the Shining). Did something strange happen? Yes!

Does anyone else have a favorite mug, or several favorite mugs?

her latest is the philosophy of food. i love the quirky little detours she takes. it's very entertaining and at the same time, highly educational. she makes the study of philosophy as easy as eating cake, well maybe a little easier, perhaps!

I am riding high right now!

The Gender Pathways clinic at Kaiser is phenomenal. Just talked to one of their nurses. I have voice therapy scheduled starting in October, they are writing a referral letter for Electrolysis with the person I have been seeing for a couple of months, and they are giving me a referral for a tracheal shave which will get me into the pipeline whenever the moratorium on elective surgeries is lifted. I feel as giddy as a schoolgirl! HeeHee!

Lots happening today. Went down to the local coffee house that also has a weekly craft market out front and found some amazing earrings!  They’re going to be perfect for my outing later with a lesbian meetup group to a winery.  Do a wine tasting and picnic in the foothills of the Blue Ridge on a perfect 78 degree and sunny day. The back home to the same coffeehouse where there is a jazz and blues festival happening all day/evening. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. E429B5EC-E72E-4B71-98ED-0151D5EBEB76.thumb.jpeg.930295f33b91898b75dc75aebbc0867a.jpeg

<laugh> Yeah @Bri2020, you look exhausted. Absolutely dreading the upcoming day in that pic. Sarcasm obviously. You look like you're gonna have a blast. Go have a blast!

Hugs!

On my day uptown I stopped at the coffee house for awhile.

Before I left I wanted to use the "facilities", and found this.

This was new.  Since some repairs they had left the M or F off the doors - one was out of order anyway.  But now they have 2 of these.

The coffeehouse had been a "safe place" since years ago when it opened. But this was kinda nice.

Got my second hair cut as me yesterday...didn't weep in builtup emotions this time, just smiles. "My" stylist blew it out so it looked under control for one day. Back to curly/wavy mess today I suppose, but we're hoping in another couple months it'll be less of a mullet...I know she could shape it into something more feminine but I am holding onto the length as hard as I can since I am a work in progress all over and mostly working at home still.

I know how that is. In my efforts to take better care of myself I've been getting mine trimmed every 6 weeks or so. Now 6 months later I realized that it is pretty much the same length. I have my hair goal in mind so I'll be skipping the trims for the next several months to get the length I want.

My electrologist/hair stylist takes care of the split ends and shaping every 8 weeks to help getting to the length I would really like and I added biotin vitamins to help as well and it seems to be working.

I went to visit a friend today and spent most of the time being used as a pillow by their good boy.

My partner of 45 years died today.  She was my biggest supporter in my transition.  I will miss her so much.

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!!!! A beautiful milestone.    I hope to see you tonight...I just have to stay awake long enough!!

It's funny with photos isn't it, how we think we look in them vs. how we actually do look in them! I'm hopeless at smiling and I have to try really hard not to frown or look like a zombie. I'm never sure how I come across to others.   I had a moment late last night when my eldest daughter facetimed my wife for some now forgotten reason, and when I was handed the tablet and talking to her, I was fixated on my image in the corner. My hair was wild at the time, I was a bit tipsy and all I saw was a woman! I have no idea what she saw in that context. I'll probably never know.

I hope to see you on the Zoom meeting tonight, April.  I might be late, since I am doing lights and sound for a play that opened last night.  I was home before ten last night, so I think I'll be able to make it.   Today is an anniversary for me.  Seven years ago today, I stood up at the weekly community kaffeeklatsch as <deadname> and announced that henceforth I would be Kathy.  It went as well as I could have imagined: there were some surprised looks, but no hostility and lots of support.  A whole layer of stress disappeared that day and has never come back.  (There have been other stresses, but that one is gone.)  I have been me full-time ever since that moment.

This is a scarily accurate description of what I feel!   I hope I don't sound too schmaltzy by saying this, but I remember when I signed up to this forum last year, during the sign-up process the question is asked, "Why do you want to join TransPulse?" to which I wrote, "Looking for a home where I can freely write about my issues and interact with similar people."    I think I just found one. ❤️

Good morning, everyone!! I was up early again - already on my third cup of coffee having walked/fed the dog and read the local paper.   We have a birthday party for a friend to go to this afternoon but no real plans otherwise.   I hope to be able to attend tonight's TGP Zoom session. It's been weeks since I've been able to participate with the illness/loss of our dog, two horrible colds in succession and our trip to chase the solar eclipse.   Have a wonderful day and look for the goodness in it.

I think we tend to be overly critical of our looks, whether we're trying to express ourselves as masculine, feminine or anywhere along the gender spectrum. For me, I use photos as a way to track my progress, to help me find my style and look and to help me find ways to improve myself in posture, looks, make-up, style......   I didn't really think about our FB avatar being public but then realized that when people search they do see it.   Since I'm not out to anyone but my wife, therapist, priest and people here, my FB page remains "that guy." I have created a Bitmoji that is relatively androgynous moving slowly towards the feminine. Long gray hair, earrings, softer features...I'm transitioning it along with myself. :-)

I so very much enjoy your posts. This one, though, hit home with me for many reasons. I was commissioned in the Army in '77, as well. Like you, I was not overly masculine in the way that many of our contemporaries were. I (still do) cried at weddings, pictures of puppies and babies, when I talked about bring proud of what my units accomplished and was never the Type A leader. In the end, it worked for me and I had a successful career.   This is, of course, your story not mine so I won't detail my struggle. It just took me much longer to understand what the underlying cause of my feelings was and even more to admit it. To act on it.    Thank you for sharing your story, Sally.
