OMG- I check out for a couple of days and then I have 4 pages of posts to catch up on!  That will teach me.  I'v been bat -crap- crazy getting ready to move into my apartment in 2 weeks. Besides all the packing, having to essentially start over with all the little possessions you amass for living has had me overwhelmed.  I think I have the kitchen figured out. My sister is a big time Pampered Chef person so had a closet full of free kitchenware to help me restart from.  Did the Ikea run as well.  When I first realized I would be moving out post separation I was worried about the big things I had to get like a bed. But just getting all the little things you don't think about that you use every day is fu#*ing expensive. The next big shopping day is stocking up a pantry from nothing. That is not going to be a cheap grocery store run :(. Since I'm going to be on my own for the first time in about 30 years I've decide to really get back into cooking so I want my kitchen and pantry ready to go when I move in.  I've already scheduled a dinner party for 5 days after my move to force me to get everything done and organized.

How nice...that was really sweet of your friend.  I must confess...I've really become fond of flowers in the last year.  I still go to the hardware store, but I always enter through the garden section now, just to say hi to all the beautiful blooms.

Yes . . .me too—I have a dozen houseplants—some of my favorite beings. And my Christmas cactus just outed herself like this, below. Such a gift from the goddess.

Good morning!

Yesterday got my hair colored and trimmed at home, set up by Mrs., a nice little bit of acceptance. Then later it was the monthly 'support' zoom and she noted how I'd have a good hair day for that. So lately I get to have euphoria with less angst about how Mrs is reacting to it, since she's getting more agreeable about things as we roll along.

I don't know, I generally do my shopping in little chunks. I mean you HAVE to stock your spice cabinet, but I have a meal plan and I only buy what I'm going to need for that week plus a couple of staples. As a single woman, most recipes are going to make enough for you to eat comfortably for the rest of the week. Another trick is cooking meals and freezing them so it's not quite so monotonous. I have a friend who lives alone who just cooks on Sunday and warms up her pre-prepped meals the rest of the week. Unless you plan on entertaining a LOT, a little food is going to go a long way and you're going to want to eat it before it spoils.

That's very cool. Our Christmas cactus is kind of alive in spite of us. Whenever it blooms, the cats go after it. No idea how is keeps persevering between the circus and my black thumb.

I love how your spouse is becoming more acceptable. That's great news!

Good morning Bri,

Completely setting up a new home, after you've divided or lost, all that you've acquired during a decade or two in a marriage is very expensive. Plus I'm sure it's heartbreaking. (HUGS)

I know you'll design a lovely entertaining area in your new apartment.

Best wishes, and Hugs,

Good morning,

today is a two cup of black Joe.

yesterday I took our dog to the vet for her annual check up and shots.  Last year the vet mentioned she had put on some weight so she had more exercise and a little les food. This year she was back down .

this morning she decided the sun was up we should get up. Crawled between us, laid on me and proceeded to give my wife kisses until we got up.  Then she took over our bed and went back to sleep.  Oh well.

lve got some boat projects to keep me busy today.  Basically getting it ready should we decide to sail to Florida when we get back from our cruise.  We need to provision get things battened down. And look for a weather window.  We can motor the ICW  to Georgia if need be but we have to go out in the ocean at the Savannah River if not sooner.  The ICW through Georgia is a very unpleasant trip and much faster off shore.  This boat has made the trip to the Bahamas and back many times but not with me at the helm.  I guess we will learn. I’ll be pulling a dinghy and everyone will be life jacketed at all times out on deck.  Even the dog.

looking forward to next Wednesday.

Hugs

This is a great idea. I really admire your persistent spirit. Not only will this motivate you to get organized, but it gives you something to look forward to, and will bring you good cheer in your new home.

Good morning everyone,

The coffee is HOT, black, and strong. :coffee:

I injured my lower back last week, and was self medicating, stretching to work things back into place. Well yesterday morning I slipped in the shower and caught myself before hitting the floor. The problem with that is I re-injured my lower back even worse 8 out of 10 pain scale. This lead me to a trip to Urgent Care for professional care, and a cocktail of pain meds. They didn't seem to touch the pain up to bedtime when I took my second dose. Sleep was restless, and full of weird dreams. This morning I physically rolled out of bed, with pain at a 5. Third dose of meds, and I'm at my home office with a manageable pain level at a 2.5.

I do believe in better living through chemistry.

Good morning Captain Willow,

What is the name of your sailing craft? Be on the lookout for scrupulous sea goers such as Captain Ron while you're on your very cool and interesting voyage.

Yeah.  After we separated I got a lot of stuff from goodwill.  Not pretty, but functional - and relatively inexpensive.

Good luck with this major life change.

Starting to bloom here as well.  My daughters have sent pix of theirs too.

I only have one window suitable for plants in this house.

hi @Mmindy the name of this boat is “Hang on Sloopy” out of Pawleys Island, SC. It is a Bermuda Sloop, made in France .  I sail-it as a cutter rig meaning I have two fore stays and I hoist my storm jib on the second stay and either my big Genoa or my standard jib on the bow stay.  My mainsail can be reefed at three points.  All lines run to the cockpit so no climbing around the boat underway.

my wife isn’t a sailer yet, but she’s a pretty darn good helmsman.  As long as I trim the sails she can steer the course.  Unfortunately one of my tasks is I have to climb the mast to fix my steaming and my anchor light.  We will be on the water after sundown. See and be seen.

If I run into a Captain Ron I’ll pass on your hello.

Willow

QAnon Supporters Wait for Return of John Kennedy Jr in Downtown Dallas

https://www.yahoo.com/news/qanon-supporters-wait-return-john-195220791.html

A woman in our LGBTQ zoom group today mentioned the group of folks who are now gathered at Dealey Plaza where JFK was assassinated. They’re expecting that JFK, Jr. will appear, coming back from the dead, and re-incarnating for them to celebrate.

“A bit crazy to expect that,” she said.

Another woman said: “But how will they know it’s him? Being dead can really change how someone looks.”

And I said: “And what if JFK, Jr. has transitioned into a super feminine woman? How WILL they recognize her?”

Such a disappointment.

This was just "dry goods run" Spices, pastas, flour, sugar various oils and can products plus basic cleaning supplies- 1/2 case of wine, coffee etc etc.  $600!!!!  and the wine was less than $80.  Crap adds up.  Perishables I will get once I move in. I tend to buy for about 4-5 days.  I do have a bunch of freezer stuff coming with me. Like your friend we have meal prepped and frozen into individual servings aton of meals. I'm leaving behind a full size freezer that is completely full so I don't mind taking say 25% of that to stock my new normal sized freezer.

I do plan on having someone/people over at least once a week. I'm an extreme extravert and a good cook so...

Glad it's getting more manageable. I've had 2 back surgeries and don't wish back pain on my worst enemy. The surg left me with some nerve damage so I have to be careful not to inflame it or it cripples me for a few days.  Best thing for it though was transitioning and using my new found love of myself to lose a ton of weight.  My back just couldn't tolerate being 215#.   I don't resort to chemistry much anymore although daily CBD helps with the inflamation.

Good morning, everyone! I've finally pretty much finished with this head cold. I actually got 5.5 hours of straight sleep last night without taking any cold medication...or waking up to pee. I feel amazingly rested!!   Oh, @Willow, you are in my thoughts and prayers that your throat issue becomes less of a problem over time and not more.   I'm, hopefully, going to get our grass cut today. It takes me somewhere between 2.5 and 3 hours on the zero turn mower but the ground is still so wet that I'll have to slow down a bit. At least it's supposed to be sunny and around 60.   Have a wonderful day!!

We have had some real dillies come out as the initiative sort of thing, but as @Carolyn Marie said, very few make it out of the petition signing seasons.  I am not surprised at the origin site of this thing, it is probably one of only 3 regressive leaning counties we have in the state. We actually had one of these initiatives started to make it mandatory for police to shoot dead on site any Gay behaving individuals wherever they found them.  For the most part the matters are poorly written in ways to be unenforceable even if enacted.  Thus most never become law or get to the voters.
    • Carolyn Marie
You make some good points, AYS.  But there are usually already too many ballot propositions each election, so the proponents know it's best to wrap it all up into a nice package.  Plus, it's easier for the signature gatherers.  Otherwise they have to have a separate clipboard for each proposition.  Too much paperwork, dontcha know?   This kind of proposition is a loser in CA, so the only possible way the proponents can succeed is to give it the scariest title imaginable and try to put one over on the voters before they get wise.  Bottom line; an ice cube on a hot summer sidewalk has a better chance of success.   Carolyn Marie

Reading that article, it seems like the attorney general gets to call it whatever unless its an outright lie.  Given the nature of politics in CA, it seems like one side has the bully pulpit for sure.  Labeling it "Restricts Rights" vs "Protects Kids" is very much a matter of perspective.  Unfortunately, that matters since many voters don't bother to read.  Perhaps a better (unbiased) way to handle it would be to simply give the ballot measure a number with no title, forcing folks to read it.    I think it would have been better to handle the various issues covered by the ballot measure separately, rather than all at once.  For example, issues relating to disclosure of medical and social information to parents.  That could be its own ballot measure, rather than lumped in with everything else.  Besides, shorter and more succinct measures are more likely to be read completely.
