Cats! I love cats. I had a black and tortoiseshell one named Fizz Gig. She was just dumped on my by a friend but I still took her in and we made the best of it. I would take her everywhere we even went hiking up a mountain a few time. I kept her on a harness so I could pick her up and carry her though the hard spots. Sadly, she ran away a few years later but I had my time with her, it was all good. It was back in the 90's so I didn't have all the cat-computer problems. My only issue with cats is the littler box.

I got on the schedule, for a BA consult, at another place. It's in May, of this year. Having to wait over a year for the other one was just too long. So there's still hope I can get that done before the end of the year.

The best litter box advice we got was from a Cat rescue home that had a no kill policy. You should always have one more litter box than you do cats. We use a newer version of the litter box, that has a scoopable layer that traps the poo, while letting the urine pass down into a pee pad. The particulate looks like smoker pellets, dust free and doesn’t track out. Somehow it also prevents oder. Sticking to a scooping schedule is key.

Also when I had a flood at my house a few months ago I looked and found there are all kinds of leak or water intrusion devices available.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. Water damage is horrible to deal with.

Water detection devices, there's a bunch of them out there. There is also a couple that'll even turn the water off if it detects a leak. One of them even has an app to it will send notifications to your phone if it triggers. They can be a little tricky to get set up at first but I've seen them save a lot of homes. I've also been in a lot of homes that had what looked like frozen water falls from when their pipes froze and burst.

Hi,

I didn’t get home from group until around 10:30. It was good to be with everyone.  I haven’t been able to go since the pandemic shutdown the live meetings nearly two years ago.  They went to Zoom and I did that ubpntil I no longer had internet.  Biggest talking point was about not using mtf, ftm or any similar labels. .

anyway really glad I was able to go.

good night

I live in an old house with an apx 20'x12' basement that leaks badly through floor and walls at times which makes it pretty much unuseable. Live 1/2 block from river. Had to put sump pump on cement block in sump hole so it wouldn't run 24 hours a day.

Have seen 3, 500 year floods in the 35 years I've lived here. Last one  came 5 ft. from my foundation. I always keep a spare pump on hand. They all fail eventually. A water detector would be nice. Thanks for the info girls.❤️

For anyone who goes to Precision Hair Removal in Chicago, they now require proof of negative covid test taken within 24 hours before appointment uploaded to their website. I had heard about changes of rules in city of Chicago, so I called Precision, and that's what they told me. I hope this doesn't cause a problem for me. Covid tests are getting scarse.

They never notified me of the new rules ahead of time. I'm glad I called since it's an over 2 hour drive for me in good weather.

I called to find out where I'm at on waiting list for bottom surgery yesterday. I'm #192 now. I was #204 in mis September. At this rate, it's going to be a long wait.🤨

Pretty sure you now have to show a vaccination card for treatment in Chicago area.

I have to bring mine to the Z Center (where Precision is) week from Monday.  Maybe call Precision and ask if they need it too?

They want a negative Covid test even if you’re vaccinated?

It is about time we drop those labels and just be us.

From what I've read the vaccines don't prevent you from catching it but minimize your chance of serious illness and hospitalization.

A few months ago I got really drunk and came out to my mother over SMS message about not feeling entirely male and that I've been trying to present more androgynous or femme. (I think it began with me telling her I bought a couple utility kilts.) She told me "as long as you're happy that's all that matters." It's nice having really cool parents.

Good morning! I introduced myself a month ago, and haven't been on here since. I came on to check out the HRT forum and I thought I'd say hi. I'm going back to the endocrinologist tomorrow and hopefully starting HRT. I saw her last month, and that's the tentative plan, but I'm nervous that there's going to be some kind of problem. I'm also super excited and curious!

Good morning

mostly sunny right now with the temperature in the mid 40s. It’s supposed to get to 70 today then rain tonight.

I have a leak somewhere but I can’t find it. All I know is my bilge pump runs, then shuts off and turns on again.  This particular pump simply checks for water every 2 ½ minutes.  If it finds any it pumps it out. No water, checks again in 2 ½ minutes.  I believe the leak is in the plumbing but I don’t know.

we plan on going to the beach today to take a walk and let the dog run.

@HaraSuryathat’s great that your mother is so accepting.

@LindaMarie that was our conclusion as well.  We also felt it was something we do to ourselves it’s not those we meet.  So, just say I am a woman or I am a man and drop the labels.  Even DSM 5 doesn’t label us it’s just you are or you aren’t based of your life actions and feelings.

what ever you do today stay happy and be yourself whatever that means to you.

hugs to all

@Mattie Anne Glad you checked in with us.  This is a very friendly, open your heart and let it flow topic.  Just as if we were all sitting around the kitchen having a cup and talking.

As long as your endocrinologist has what they need to know you are appropriate and you don’t have any allergies or underlying medical problems that would prevent HRT. You shouldn’t have anything to be concerned about.  They usually start slow, adding one thing at a time and adjusting the dosage until it’s right for you.  So don’t get upset it you don’t walkout with the full package and high dosages.

Comeback, tell us how it went and join us for morning coffee, tea or whatever your morning drink is.

hugs

Up and getting ready for work. Still not 100% but better.

All we hear is a vaccine not a cure. How many trillions are these drug manufacturers making from the gov? Has anyone looked into a cure. Just like cancer it is more profitable to treat it than cure it. The world is all about greed anymore. I wonder if polio was discovered nowadays. or Tuberculosis.

Hi @Mattie Anne. I couldn't agree more with Willow's words. This is a truly open and accepting/affirming place where everyone's viewpoint is respected.

Please come back and share how the endocrinologist appointment went and share any concerns you have.

Hugs,

Marcie

i think it depends on what you mean by cure.  Total elimination of Covid or curing those who get sick.

I believe both Phyzer  and Moderna have developed cures that are awaiting approval.  One issue with them is just like the flu, they only work if you start taking it in time.  Lots of vaccinated people, yourself included, don’t realize until it’s too late that you may have Covid and with the current shortage of test kits can’t find out in time.  If everyone would get vaccinated and stop being stubborn we could slow the spread and eventually put it out of or minds.  True we may need an annual Covid shot just like an annual flu shot but wouldn’t that be better than getting  Sick?  Anyway,  glad you are feeling better, you’ve been missed.

hugs

We all look the same there!

Yeah, this.

And I'd prefer an "I-feel-like-crap-flu" day or two, to an "I'm-on-a-ventilator-fixin'-to-die" one.

Labels...ugh! That's another thing that just bugs the crap out of me. Unfortunately, it is needed in cases. Some of us easily fit into the gender binary male/female and can present and be accepted that way. I don't refer to myself as a trans woman, just a woman. Early on I thought about wearing a pronoun pin to make myself more clear to anyone who wasn't sure about my gender but why should I need to? I've never seen a cis person wearing one regardless of how off their presentation was.

To me there isn't that much difference other the measurement, which side the zipper is on and men's pants have bigger pockets.

I like them too.  We had them growing up.  But my father's family were Swedes.

Oh my!  I guess it just goes to show how different tastes can be. Since we don't live near the ocean, Seafood is a rare luxury. We absolutely love pickled herring! Especially my husband and my GF, I guess it's a Ferman/Russian cultural thing.  But most of the kids like it too, and a jar wouldn't last in the pantry for long 😆
    • awkward-yet-sweet
I think the key to that is just not minding eating the same thing repeatedly. Since we produce a lot of our own food here, we end up eating what is in season at the moment. So, when the yellow squash is ripening, we end up fixing squash 20 different ways. When the strawberries are ready, we eat lots of strawberries. It's kind of a different mindset to eat in season when it has become such a part of American culture but the grocery store has everything we want all the time. Like grapes in December.  My family does even things out a little bit by having a greenhouse so we have some fresh things in the winter, but it's not a 100% fix.
    • KathyLauren
My brothers and I had to eat what was on the plate.  All of it, and nothing else.  Pickiness was not tolerated.  Some of our least favourite were liver and onions, sauerkraut, and especially rollmops (pickled herring).  We finally protested enough to persuade our mother not to serve rollmops, though she kept a jar in the pantry for years afterwards, as a threat if we didn't behave.

I'll go first.  My favorite team is the Yankees.  Loved them since I was a kid.  I was born in NYC so, yeah.  I know everyone loves to hate them, and that's OK.  I just love baseball in general.  It's a game of traditions, strategy, power, grace and skill.   Play Ball!!  ⚾   Carolyn Marie

I guess you do have a good point. It's just hard to try and not have the same meals over and over again.
    • Willow
Hi   I’ll weigh in on being picky about food.  Yes, and I was brought up that way.  We didn’t have to eat everything our parents ate.  They had a number of things they ate that they figured we wouldn’t eat, an acquired taste things or one or the other didn’t like them too.   even as an adult there are many things I won’t eat.  In my defense, there are different things my wife won’t eat.   the weird thing is that after being in E, my tastes have changed.  Sweet, sour, salty or bland, if I eat or drink too much of any one thing and I have to counter act it.   Willow

I have shared my doses and levels a lot and no one has said anything. Yeah I put alarms on my phone to make sure I don't miss a dose. I tend to forget a lot of stuff on what needs to be done. I have been also using the calendar on my phone a lot. I missed an appointment because I didn't put it in my calendar.

Feeling better than I did yesterday
    • MaeBe
It's official. My doctor wants me retested after the last results (too high). The test, that she scheduled, was likely too close to the dose. She did tell me to keep the increased dose instead of reverting to my old one, probably because my "too high" wasn't that high. I don't know what the forum's stance is on results, knowing full well the rules against sharing dosage, so I'll keep those under wraps until I know if it's OK to share those. Less to say, it was over the range she feels comfortable with by about 50%, but taken a day earlier than the midpoint value she was expecting. Grains of salt everywhere!   Of course I messed everything up too, missing my dose for the first time, yesterday. I had to re-reschedule the lab I setup yesterday to Monday from Saturday after taking my shot this morning to avoid the same issue with the testing. I woke up and thought, "Thursday, what do I have to do for work today? OH -crap-, IT'S THURSDAY! I missed my shot yesterday!"   Anyhoo. Question for the ladies: does anyone else get a mild zen-like high after their shots/doses? My brain feels lighter and I'm happier and I feel a lot more girlie this morning. 💃
    • MaeBe
I'm into my fourth month of HRT and just titrated up in dosage after my last checkup. This is my life. 🤭   I have yet to grow out of my B cup bras, but I have noticed more fullness, having started with gynecomastia. I am seeing less gapping in bras with my right breast, which has always been smaller than my left. My areolae are slightly pronounced/projected now, that are larger but not vastly greater in circumference, and I have noticed little to no nipple changes beyond their painful sensitivity.
