At least one more!  Throughout my childhood and now that I'm a student of Stoic philosophy, he will always have a special place in my heart...  Even though he is based on a tragic misunderstanding of Stoicism.

Good morning

I’ve already had my coffee.  I need to shower and dress.  I have my therapy appointment at 10.

-penis--pit o meter is reading 81 already.  It’s supposed to be mid 90s every day this week.  It’s the beginning of meteorological summertime and it knows it.  It’s also the beginning of the hurricane season.  Let’s hope it avoids the east coast this year.  Maybe avoids land period this year.  Wouldn’t that be nice.  At least they aren’t predicting a record breaking number of storms.

well I guess I’d better get moving.

hope you have a great day today

Good morning from the Ford Service Center, their Coffee is actually very good.

2014 F-250 with 240 thousand miles on the Diesel engine isn’t bad. It’s the components that hang on to the engine that wear out. I hope I’m not jinxing myself, but if I can make it to November 12, 2022. My road trips around the lower 48 will end, and my business relying on the truck will end. From that date on, the only time I’ll need the truck is to pull Ms Suzie’s camper around.

Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,

@Ticket For Epic, interesting point, and so true. Have you read the writings of Marcus Aurelius? He's probably the most famous of the stoic philosophers.

@Mmindy Thanks for the tip on the nails. I need a stronger coating on mine. Just need to find a place that does it.

30s on the Fenceometer looking at high of 57. It was so nice when we were in Lincoln. As it was in the low 80s the whole weekend.

Feeling pretty good these last few days. Shortly both my wife and youngest will be going to the day shift. So, Kymmie will be able to come out an play a lot more. Summer skirts and dresses here we come.

Indeed I have!  My introduction was Seneca the younger, Moral Letters to Lucilius...changed my life.  Followed by Meditations, which is great for a quick maxim.  Why don't they teach philosophy in school?

@Ticket For Epic, I have no idea why philosophy isn't taught any more. Same goes for History, Grammar and cursive writing. Both my kids graduated high school over 10 years ago and there were some things that struck me as really odd. For example, my youngest daughter came home from an advanced placement American History class that had just finished a module on the Civil War and did not know who Jefferson Davis was. Similarly, my oldest came back from a civics class not knowing the difference between the constitution and the declaration. Neither got anything regarding philosophy, the classics or similar studies. And, it's getting worse, according to my youngest who is now a high school English teacher.

It's a bit scary, actually.

Super happy for you @Vidanjali! Most of my NB friends say, "any pronouns," but I think it's absolutely important to get it right. I'm glad your PT feels the same way.

Hugs!

Thanks, darlin! I had another appointment today and apparently this has opened up a deeper line of communication as she has shared that she's recently become interested in educating herself on social justice issues. I love having those conversations & being around people who are committed to personal growth not only for their own sake, but for the benefit of society and culture.

@Ticket For EpicAsked why don't they teach philosophy anymore?

The simplest answer is probably no one wanted to study it. There does seem to be a movement away from the art and science of critical thinking towards the 'correct way to think'. I studied to be a lawyer before I came out as an engineer. As such I was exposed to a fair of philosophy and the rat of reasoning. I have always found that my legal training was by far the important to my career in wireless engineering. Yes one needed to understand the math and science. However, identifying and resolving problems is the essence of a legal education. There is substantial value in the traditional liberal arts education.

I will admit that philosophy was difficult and a struggle to understands there is not the right answer only better or worse answers

Well today was a wonderful day. Finished work 2 hrs early and only minimal bs to deal with lol. Finishing early also means I get to start my four day weekend early!

The best news of all, the first day of Pride month also marks 365 glorious days of being ME! I’ll have to post a comparison picture a little later.

"Correct thinking" reminds me of the novel 1984. Miranda, I completely agree with everything you said. Learning how to think critically is indeed the most important of education.

I also think it's interesting to note that virtually all totalitarian regimes--from despotism to fascism to communism all adopt "correct thinking," "group thinking," or something similar as a central part of their core ideologies. Just sayin'...

Good morning

I became very frustrated with our lender last night.  They insist that information they need must be in a specific format .  It’s from the IRS website.  I follow their link to the letter, all it does is take me to what I already sent them.

@Jandi there wasn’t anything wrong with the word I used when taken in context.  Changing it to the P word changes the meaning completely.  I suppose I should have used Helm-o-meter.  But sometimes my brain doesn’t come up with the right word.   In any event, to the censorship team, I was using cockpit as in where it Captain and first officer control a plane or sailboat.  Not as a vulgar term for a body part.

anyway. Please change it to Helm-o-meter.  Thank you!

Been enjoying the heck out of the new show. The characters are fun, it's not just focusing on part of the crew and Nurse Chapel... If I'm being honest, the way that character is written absolutely turns me on. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but she probably thought that before.

Americans don't seem concerned with using mythology to heal themselves anymore—hatred is such a weak crutch.

I do like the new Star Trek. I cannot wait till the next Episode is available. Oh, wait. It is Thursday and new ones come out Thursdays. 😁  Nurse Chapel is very nice on the eyes.

As for you being nuts. We have known that for years. Love ya sweetie.

@Willow While your -CENSORED- is paperwork. Mine is just finding a house in our approval range. The two we saw we were out bid on. the couple that are. are two small and/or dumps. I'm sure VA wouldn't go for.

On the eyes? I guess, I'm demi though. What got me going is her character's slightly off-kilter mad science personality. She can experiment on me ANYTIME.

Hugs!

Good morning    I should not have said about sleeping in, now I have to go in 2 ½ hours earlier.  Oh well at least I. Off tomorrow and Monday, I think.as of now, hope I didn’t just jinx that too.     Hot today high 80s dropping quickly and rain to the 60s for a couple of days then more normal 70s.  It just depends on which way the wind blows. Off the gulf, hotter, off the ocean, cooler, out of the north rain and when they all converge, look out.  That’s today.   i made a pot of coffee but I think most of it is going to waste.  My wife went back to bed and I’m not good with coffee when I’m hot, and I am. That’s my fault, I was 4 days.late with my E again.  I just st have a really hard time keeping on a 10 day schedule.  And my reminders aren’t helping..   now I’m going to peak by tomorrow since it isn’t all absorbed in one day, I’ll hold fairly steady but if I’m late again I’ll drop well below my target yet again.     Im down in the valley, the valley so low But I see my true love, at the top of the hill i climb the mountain, but she is not there for she has gone back down, to the valley below   I didn’t come up with a refrain and with that I’m calling the guys with the padded cells. lol   Willow

It's funny with photos isn't it, how we think we look in them vs. how we actually do look in them! I'm hopeless at smiling and I have to try really hard not to frown or look like a zombie. I'm never sure how I come across to others.   I had a moment late last night when my eldest daughter facetimed my wife for some now forgotten reason, and when I was handed the tablet and talking to her, I was fixated on my image in the corner. My hair was wild at the time, I was a bit tipsy and all I saw was a woman! I have no idea what she saw in that context. I'll probably never know.

I hope to see you on the Zoom meeting tonight, April.  I might be late, since I am doing lights and sound for a play that opened last night.  I was home before ten last night, so I think I'll be able to make it.   Today is an anniversary for me.  Seven years ago today, I stood up at the weekly community kaffeeklatsch as <deadname> and announced that henceforth I would be Kathy.  It went as well as I could have imagined: there were some surprised looks, but no hostility and lots of support.  A whole layer of stress disappeared that day and has never come back.  (There have been other stresses, but that one is gone.)  I have been me full-time ever since that moment.

This is a scarily accurate description of what I feel!   I hope I don't sound too schmaltzy by saying this, but I remember when I signed up to this forum last year, during the sign-up process the question is asked, "Why do you want to join TransPulse?" to which I wrote, "Looking for a home where I can freely write about my issues and interact with similar people."    I think I just found one. ❤️

Good morning, everyone!! I was up early again - already on my third cup of coffee having walked/fed the dog and read the local paper.   We have a birthday party for a friend to go to this afternoon but no real plans otherwise.   I hope to be able to attend tonight's TGP Zoom session. It's been weeks since I've been able to participate with the illness/loss of our dog, two horrible colds in succession and our trip to chase the solar eclipse.   Have a wonderful day and look for the goodness in it.
