Good morning

@rachel w WOW!  Glad you are better now.  That sounds pretty scary.

5am this morning I thought I might have to go to the ER. When I get stung I get anaphylactic.  My first sign, besides getting stung is that the bottoms of my feet itch uncontrollably.  Nothing in my home medical kit helps.  Well, I woke up with my hands feeling just like that.  I didn’t know what it could be as I knew I hadn’t been stung.  Cortozone did nothing but my second idea was lidocaine.  That eventually helped.  I didn’t know if I should inject Epipen or not.  Injecting means a required er trip.  Still not entirely normal but no longer concerned.  I’ll have to see how it goes as the day wears on.

80s yesterday 40s today.  That’s fall around here.  Too warm?  Wait a day or two and vice versa

have a great day

Willow

thank you  I hope yours turns out ok to

Forecast is saying snow tomorrow.  Unusual before Thanksgiving here in the South.  No coffee or tea for me, as I'm planning on curling back up in my nest once my employed partners leave for work.  Anybody else having similar plans?

Ugh, Monday again!

Wait that doesn’t matter anymore one day is the same as the next now.  Well, except that we do laundry on Monday and shopping on Wednesday (senior discount)

@Katie23 thank goodness the cost of epi pens has come down. The first set I had were over $400.  Most recent replacements cost $37!  It’s hard to know which way you are heading with the initial signs of reaction.  I knew I shouldn’t be heading for anaphylaxis but the first sign was there.  I couldn’t locate my Benadryl which is why I tried the others. I decided it must be an external reaction to something.

Wow what a change in the weather last week.  Wind, rain, hot and muggy, tropical depression, more wind and temperatures dropped from the 80 to spotty frost possible!  still haven’t turned on our heater but aren’t running the AC either.  Last electric bill, $28.

I have two friends that moved north, one to western New York and the other to upstate Michigan.  They are both so new to the winter life and young enough that they still think it’s fun.  We’ll see how they each feel late January. If it’s a warm winter they’ll be buried in snow.  But if it’s a cold winter well, we’ll just have to see how they handle below zero temperatures.

Hard freeze for the first time in Boston tonight. That'll kill the fruit flies.

O.K. I just gotta say it outloud. Here goes. Because of my sciatic back I lie down during Zoom meetings and being shy about that, I turn off the video. Today, at my Fenway meeting, I was asked to introduce myself to a new member and I briefly switched on the video to wave hello before speaking. Then. I apologized for not showing my video. "But you look so cute lying there today," he said. I laughed it off. But it echoed in my head: "cute" he said?  Me? Cute? He did say the word sincerely  and someone else agreed with him.  Hearing"Cute" did make me feel good. Was it my new haircut? Maybe I should act as if it were true? I decided to feel good, to act as if. True or not. Cheers for trying to stay positive. Cute.

Is this really the start of Transgender Awareness Week? Great timing, then.

Arrived home about 45 minutes ago, grabbed the mail, and found an envelope with a NY Department of Health return address. Could it be, already? Oh, yes, it could be. Pardon the all caps:

Wow.  Congratulations.  I know that felt good.

@Hannah Renee Glad you got some good mail today!  And at the right time.  Just a thought, though... I know you're excited, but you might not want to post your full name on the internet.  (Sounds like my husband talking LOL)  Hopefully your life with your real name and gender will be a wonderful experience!

@IvyI mentioned before that I was told it would take 5 months. It took just under 3. The form, if you haven't seen it, is pretty simple. That and your court order, an envelope and postage, and voila.

@awkward-yet-sweetI understand what you're saying, and I did give that some consideration. However, my status is not a secret, and I'm too old to care.

However, if any of the mods or admins feel it is an issue, then I'll leave it to their judgement to edit.

Yeah, this.   Old age has some perks.  It can be quite liberating.

Gotcha 🙂  My husband lectures me a lot about security...never use a last name, never give specific location, etc...  He doesn't ask if I'm on forums, but I try to keep things such that if he ever looked, I wouldn't disappoint him.  Probably makes me a bit more discrete than may be necessary.

I don't blame you. The internet is still an iffy thing. For me, I only recently, after my HS reunion last month, joined FB. Reconnecting with some folks, and they all know of my new story. I don't have much family left, and I've never had many friends. Whoever's left already knows. Nobody left to freak out. Only my daughter, my therapist, and my friends here know I'm on this forum. Not much of my info here to interest ne'er-do-wells.

BTW, you're a gem.

Hugs

Congratulations Hannah Renee, that justifies all caps.

@Ivy I agree that maturing aka getting old is liberating.

@awkward-yet-sweet that's a good mind set, and more of us need to protect our online identities. Scammers and hackers are ready to pounce.

Yeah, my daughter says the same thing about me - and she's right. And that joke is just my style of humor.

Good afternoon

couldnt sleep last night so when I did I slept in.

@Mmindy you’ve been a very prolific writer this morning.

@Hannah Renee I’m in the group that figures certain changes are unnecessary.  I won’t bother with legal name change or gender change on my documents.  When offered I will chose sex or gender X.  I do meet the legal requirements I just don’t see the point.  I believe I am in as good if not better physically and mentally than the average person of mid 70s but then I expect to live another 20 years.  I can only hope that things get better for us with the passing of each year.  Especially for the kids.  They don’t deserve all of the untrue statements that are being made about them, their health care and what anyone is trying to do to them.

Raining today and cool along the coast.  I guess fall is waning and winter is coming.

it’s official there aren’t any storm systems in the Atlantic with a chance of becoming a hurricane.  The seaso is over early this year.

@Willow, I had time on my hands, waiting for an IT person to fix the communication between my computer and the printer. Yesterday morning I was able to scan and e-mail documents. Microsoft 365 did an update, and now I can only print documents. The scan and fax features are gone. This is a software issue beyond my skill level.

Great to be up early AND be well-rested. Back is healing (and so is my heart?) I read a good article online or find a fine poem or a song? They make me cry these days--in a good way. Maybe that's part of becoming more feminine, if that's not sexist. Anyway, it feels alive. Alive! Love you folks.

Good morning Davie, I'm glad you're back pain is easing. I too believe and understand feeling more alive, and feeling love for the people here on TransPulseForums. Since I started allowing myself to view the World, and the things I read as my true self. I do experience emotions, and crying more than I use to.

Hugs and Love,

Good Wednesday morning everyone

not much going on today.  I think I’ll try a different recipe for yeast rolls.  The last one was a little flat, certainly not one I’d care to put on the table with guests.  That’s the thing about baking, if one recipe doesn’t suit, there are lots more to try.

@Mmindy software updates are always a challenge. You never know for sure when one will work seamlessly and when your configuration is the one they didn’t check and will break.

The welding/fabrication company told my granddaughter yesterday that they will hire her but are waiting on final approval from an engineer and that could take several weeks.  I know that’s a thing about trades, when there is work, it’s great and good pay but when things are slow you can be out of work for a while, especially if you are Union.

she is taking a class on blueprint reading right now and will be taking another welding class next term at tech college.  After about 18 months she can take her certification license exam and move on from her apprenticeship.

Just had my monthly health assessment.  They call from my healthcare group to survey us every month.

hugs

Hi, all. Going back to the grind tomorrow. Will be good to be out and about some. However I am still working on getting that lung coughed up. My sides are so sore from all the hacking.

Haven't wanted to do anything lately. With the way I have been feeling, plus the cold arse weather.

Hugs,

Oh my Kymmiel,

I hope you start feeling better soon, my business partner, and I both picked up some kind of a chest cold during our last travel training together. I definitely don't recommend coughing as a way to build up your diaphragm, abs, or rib muscles.

The experience was the same for me @April Marie. I slept much deeper and I woke up each morning feeling so much more restful sleeping with forms solidly in place. For me, wearing breast forms at night started when before I was a teenager. I had no access up to modern breast forms and certainly no way to buy mastectomy bras back then. I wore a basic bra my mom had put in a donation box and two pairs of soft cotton socks. I have some crazy memories of things I did in my youth to combat my GD but regardless, these makeshift concoctions helped me work through it all.   All My Best, Susan R🌷

Colorado isn't exactly a Republican place, and won't become one anytime soon.  I think those folks might be better off not spending their time playing Don Quixote.    We certainly have our share of California "refugees" moving into where I live, so I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing Coloradans too.  I suspect the trend over the next few years will see the blue areas getting more blue and the red areas getting more red as anybody who can relocate tries to find a place where they fit better.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Well, at least it'll be a place some folks could choose.  Options are a good thing.

My family would have gobbled that jar up in a minute or two.  When we do have pickled herring, its usually for Christmas.  I didn't grow up with that particular dish, but I grew up in a Greek family so I like just about any kind of fish if I can get it.  However, ocean fish and freshwater fish taste so different.  We usually have more catfish and tilapia to eat than anything else.    What I can't quite get used to is the tons of cabbage my GF insists on eating.  When you live with a Russian, there is always cabbage soup.  Always.  When I first moved in with her, breakfast was "shchi" for soup and either bread or "kasha" which is a bowl of boiled buckwheat with butter and salt.  Those dishes can be made in any number of ways, some are better than others.  In the winter, it can even be salty and sour like kraut.  Not exactly sauerkraut, but packed in tubs with vinegar and salt so it keeps partially for the winter.  But I drew the line when the cabbage soup included pieces of fried snake one day.  😆

Good evening to you as well @Mmindy   That is awesome that you have support from her side. My dad has communicated with me once and that was because he was forced to. His new wife wanted to spend time with my kids. He hated me so much he was in the process of taking my rights away as a parent to my two boys. He was talking to a lawyer and I called him out on it. I don't love him at all. I'll respect him because I wouldn't be here without him but I wished I had another father. My uncles don't talk to me and unfriended me on Facebook. Almost all cousins except for two are still Facebook friends but they don't give me any support. My mom said she won't support me with that but she has said that she loves me. I have nieces and nephews that are still Facebook friends but they have yet to talk to me. I have one sister that supports me out of three. The other's disrespect me by deadnaming me. They have never called me their sister. I think for them they think it's still a phase. They don't ask questions about me being trans. I have to bring it up and on the look of their faces they don't look comfortable about it.

Good evening @Ashley0616,   I just got offline with HP tech support trying to get my printer tool box icon locked to my tool bar. This is one of the most important features of my printer that I like because it keeps track of ink, paper, and scanned documents. I'm diffidently not a computer geek.   I'll catch up with the other bookmarks next week. We leave to go home for the Easter Holiday with our families. Saturday with her side, and Sunday with my side. What's odd about that is I'm out to more of her side and they're reluctantly supportive. My side on the other hand are less supportive, and my sister just under me in age will not acknowledge my being there. She will be constantly moving to keep from dealing with me. I'm dead to her.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I used to follow baseball and the team I would cheer for is Boston Red Sox. My favorite player was Papi. He was an awesome guy and even held a child during the National Anthem. I haven't watched baseball for a long time. It just died off to me.

That stinks that nothing transferred, and no bookmarks were saved!

I'm doing patches for now but I think soon I'll go to shots because it's hard to alternate when you are doing two xx patches at once. Unless she gives me Estradiol and progesterone

My view is we are "dependent" on government, because as a society, we are too lazy to stay actively involved. So, we let politicians do our bidding for us.  I think we'd be in a better place government wise if we policed the actions of our politicians.  We elected them; they work for us.  Sadly, we are allowing them to run amok.  We are where we are because we have chosen to let politicians make all decisions without us.  Remember "by the people, for the people?" That was the intent of our democracy.  Today, however, it is "by the politicians, for the politicians," the people be damned.

"Play Ball! Batter Up!" is the closing line of the National Anthem as far as I'm concerned. It's the call of the Home Plate Umpire and signals the start of the game. I grew up in the TV and Radio broadcast of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harry Caray, Jack Buck, Tim McCarver, and Mike Shannon, were the voices on my transistor radio. KMOX 1120 AM pushing 50,000 watts of Class A clear-channel non-directional signal. It could be picked up all across MO, IL, IN to the East. KS, OK, CO to the West. IA, MN to the North, and KY, TN, AR to the South. There has always been a rivalry against the Chicago Cubs, in the National League. As for the American League, I have to pull for the Kansas City Royals. I've also been a Little League Umpire, and fan of everything the Little League stands for. Going to Williamsport, PA and seeing the Little League World Series is in my top 10 things to do on my bucket list.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good evening everyone,   I don't think my mother ever cooked a meal that I didn't like. We also had a kitchen where mom fixed the food, dad filled your plate, and you eat it. It wasn't until our baby brother was born that we could have Pop-Tarts for snacks. Before that all snacks had to meet mom's approval, and in her opinion wouldn't prevent you from eating supper.   Well my day started off on a good note, but has become frustrating because my IT person didn't transfer my saved videos I use for teaching. Then I found out that they didn't save any of my book marks for websites I use frequently.   Best wishes, stay motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

The number is relative to method of deliver, the time of the dose, and when the blood is drawn. However, I do want to keep away from DVT and other potential issues. I assume I may be getting backed down from my current dose, but my doc told me to stick with the higher dose, so? I also wonder if this has anything to do the my breast growth and mental changes that have been happening over the past few years, like I have some estrogen sensitivity so a little goes a long way or something? I don't have enough data to postulate, but who knows!   With weekly, subcutaneous, shots you expect to see big swings of serum level estradiol from shot to peak to trough. My doctor is interested in mid-week testing (for E and T levels only), which would be post-peak blood serum levels but they will be higher than trough. Most, if not all, resources I've seen online is to measure at trough (which I might do just to do it next time) along with a SHBG, LH, and other metrics.   This is from transfemscience.org for Estradiol valerate in oil, which is very spiky compared to some other estradiol combinations. It's also for intramuscular, which will have a slower uptake and is usually dosed in higher volume due to the slower absorption rate from muscles. They don't have subcutaneous numbers, which I would expect to see similar spikes but higher levels at similar doses due to the relatively higher absorption rate direct from fat.   Are you doing pills, shots, or patches? And when you do get your levels checked are you getting that done when your levels are lowest or some other time?
