When my father was researching his ancestry, he found one branch of the family that was minor royalty, meaning that there were royal ancestors all the way back to William I.  I was impressed.  Until I calculated how many ancestors I would have had in 1066 and looked up the population of Britain at that time.  The number of ancestors is considerably larger than the entire population, meaning that it is very likely that anyone with British ancestry is related to William I somehow!  😄

Interesting how so many people have some sort of royal ancestry.  Something about the Plague narrowing the population, or so I've heard.  My husband is minor German royalty, and if the Germans hadn't lost WWI he'd actually be in line to be a count of something-or-other over there...his uncle would be the current holder of the title, if such things mattered.  And since all the royalty of Europe were intermarried at some point, that probably makes my husband a very distant relative of yours.  I guess we're all just 7 steps away from each other, like that TV show 😆

We had St. Patrick's Day yesterday.  Of course, the evening was spent in a bar.  Kind of hilarious that my husband was the only adult in our family with any Irish ancestry.  Yet, there's some crossover from Irish folk music to popular folk songs and war songs here in the South.  We had some good beer and some good music anyways.

Thank you everyone for your responses about loneliness. It was a rough day, but it helped to share here and read the responses.

Good morning, all. No royalty here although I've always called and tried to treat my wife like a Queen.

It's a chilly but sunny day here and Spring is surely coming - lots of Spring birds here already and some of the plants and trees are starting to bud out.

No real plans for today - looking forward to just relaxing and enjoying the process of discovery that accepting my reality has begun.

Be safe and enjoy this day!

Woke up too early with my stomach complaining, so instead of coffee this morning it's tea and activated charcoal capsules. That always seems to work.

The sun is doing its morning slant, which I always enjoy this time of year. You know, where the shadows are long and the areas of light on the ground, between the trees, are streaks.

I was interviewed for a podcast at my church, and it went live on the website Friday. Some people have already heard it and said very nice things to me. I'll put a link in the religion forums. The first half of the podcast is about my coming out, well it's all about my coming out, but I have some spiritual things to say in it too.

Good morning campers. Coffee is ready, brewed just the way I like it!

Many years ago, I hated Monday’s.  But that was because I really disliked my boss.  Then he was let go and Monday didn’t bother me any more or ever again.  So, today is just like any other day to me. The plan is to go to the Y for stretch and strength.  Right now I’m vacuuming my living room.  Yes I’m being lazy and letting a robot do it.  But I told it where to go, literally! Lol.

strange thing about it, it pulls dog hair up out of the carpet better than our vacuum but won’t suck it up into its container.  The vacuum cleaner won’t get the down deep fur but does suck it up off the surface.  Both are rated for pet hair.  Laundry is done for this week.

I made pizza from scratch yesterday, we had half yesterday and will have the rest tonight.  We’ve decided the I will make dinner on my days off and my wife will make it the other days.

Enjoy your day playing pinball with the wizard.  Remember he always gets the replay.

Good morning all.  It's a beautiful morning in AZ, and it's nice to sit on the patio and enjoy that first cup of coffee.

@Dillon, congratulations on the podcast. I look forward to seeing the link!

@Willow, pizza from scratch?!?! WOW!!! That's impressive. I'm a fair cook, but making pizza dough is out of my league. And, I really enjoyed your reference to Tommy. Made me remember my youth. 🙂

Good afternoon, all!

I find it so terribly encouraging each day to read our Good Morning, All Coffees On messages, especially those that make mention of the weather where each poster lives, how scattered we are around the country –– I should say: around he world!  With some variations, we all have something in common. I can't help but reflect on that "something" when I realize it wasn't that many years ago when that same "something" had me wondering if I might be the only person on earth who was losing sleep over that same "something." Today, thanks to all of you, I smile when I think those thoughts. It feels soooo good to know I'm not alone!

Cheers!

Good afternoon

@Marcie Jensen the dough recipe I use is pretty easy and consistent 1 package instant yeast, 2 cups bread flour enriched, not bleached, 1 tbsp olive oil 3/4 tsp kosher salt, 3/4 cup warm water between 95 and 105 Fahrenheit put ingredients in a heavy duty blender and place the yeast and salt on opposite sides.  Use a dough blade.  Pulse until mixed.  Open and scrape down the sides.  Run on dough speed for two minutes.  Add no more than 1tbsp additional water to bring dough together or add up to 1/8 cup additional flour (I don’t do this in the blender.)

place dough on a floured countertop and knead by hand (this is where I pick up the extra flour)

place in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, allow to rise for 60 to 90 minutes in a warm place.  (My oven has a bread rise setting which is 95 degrees)

when it has doubled in volume place it on parchment paper and roll it out or hand stretch. Brush olive oil on the outer couple inches, sprinkle course garlic salt on the oil.  Add pizza sauce and toppings to suit, cheese spices

bake on a pizza stone in preheated oven to 500 preheat the stone too.  Use a peel to transfer the pizza to and from the oven.  Bake for 15 minutes.

This recipe is from American Test Kitchen cookbook.

yes I try to bring in something memorable or funny when I can.  We don’t need to be down or depressed when enjoying our coffee.

@Rianon I’m so glad you enjoy reading this thread.  We talk about lots of things just like good friends and neighbors would talk about at each others kitchen table while enjoying coffee and company.

hugs

Thanks @Willow I'll give your dough recipe a try.

And, @Rianon, all I can do is echo Willow;s words. Although separated physically, we are all good friends and neighbors here. This is a special place.

Good morning

it’s a work day for this gal.  Yes, I need to get going.  No time for coffee!  What?  When isn’t there time for coffee?  I could drink it on my long drive, couldn’t I?  Probably not, it takes longer to get in and out of the car than to drive across the highway.  But I do need to get going.

nothing new here so I’ll check in when I get home.  Everyone be safe today, especially @KymmieL  let us know occasionally that you are ok.

Good morning, everyone! Another beautiful Spring day - chilly but warming up with bright sunlight. I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee and have already rearranged/cleaned my closet shelves to make room for all these new items I've found I've needed over these first few months of gradual transition. I have to admit to enjoying the process of making space for new clothes, figuring out how to hang skirts and sharing long hanging space with my wife for my dresses.

My next chore is to take my car through the car wash and knock the mud off and then stop at the drug store to stock up on Allegra, Motrin and nail polish remorver.

Have a wonderful and safe day!!

Keep in touch @KymmieL!!

On my first cup of coffee. Day is looking OK. Sometimes it's awesome to simply be OK: After a challenging weekend, I am grateful for this peaceful morning.

How true that is, especially after a challenging period of time. We all hit those - had one the previous week - and just getting back to OK can feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from our shoulders. Thankfully, I can come here know that others have been through these same challenges.

Enjoy your day @Dillon!!

Good morning, Willow, Marcie Jensen, and April Marie,

That's what I found so extraordinary about this group when I first joined: how almost overnight the isolation I'd been feeling since my pre-teen days almost completely vanished. I feel "at home" here. It's been a long time since I've been able to say that.

Let's all have a lovely day!

I'm tired of the two-party system.  It has degraded to a system where there are only two diametrically opposed views, neither of which supports me.  I have conservative views regarding big government and government spending but I have very liberal views when it comes to protecting the rights of individuals.  And just elections of the past, I am stuck with two choices, neither of which I support. With only two parties, each with agendas that are off the left and right scales, I am not adequately represented.    Finally, I'm okay with party affiliated politicians running for office using their party views, but once elected to office, they are obligated to support the entire electorate not just the electorate members that voted for them.  Plain and simple, our government system is broken and dysfunctional.  I'll step down from my soapbox now.

Thanks Mae.  She was an amazing friend and I grew to love her like a sister.

I did Ashley.  Non-rev travel was one of the major factors for taking the job.  At the time, US Airways had the best non-rev policy in the industry.  It cost $10 to fly coach and $25 to fly first class.  We flew first class whenever there were seats available.

You should have a moderator fix what you meant to write as "birth certificate".  Ooops.   I've gone over that verse and am wholly and completely dissatisfied with the SBC exegesis of it, so much so that it was one of the things that helped me break out of a mindset of guit.  Sometime I may strut by stuff as a Hebraist and show what it really means.

I found this   — 450 — Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise Goal #1: Protecting Life, Conscience, and Bodily Integrity. The Secretary should pursue a robust agenda to protect the fundamental right to life, protect con- science rights, and uphold bodily integrity rooted in biological realities, not ideology. From the moment of conception, every human being possesses inherent dignity and worth, and our humanity does not depend on our age, stage of development, race, or abilities. The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death: Abortion and euthanasia are not health care. A robust respect for the sacred rights of conscience, both at HHS and among gov- ernments and institutions funded by it, increases choices for patients and program beneficiaries and furthers pluralism and tolerance. The Secretary must protect Americans’ civil rights by ensuring that HHS programs and activities follow the letter and spirit of religious freedom and conscience-protection laws. Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike. The next Secretary must ensure that HHS programs protect children’s minds and bodies and that HHS programs respect parents’ basic right to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children.   https://static.project2025.org/2025_MandateForLeadership_CHAPTER-14.pdf   First, that is not much, if that is all that is of concern.  Secondly, I have seen all sorts of anti-Trump slander, including the Steele dossier and the lawfare he is now undergoing, to be cynical of any criticism against him, and indirectly this document.    He deserves some of what he is getting, but not all.  Thirdly, I bolded one statement of concern.   I don't think gender identity is subjective.  "Radical actors" is name calling, and there is a lot of that going around.  Maybe I am not seeing everything of concern or reading this right, but i would discuss with the author of this document concerning this.

Good evening   well I finally finished reading my textbook.  Yeah.  But I still have a lot more to go for the class.     My endocrinologist always asks me about lactation.  And yes I have had some very small amounts of leakage but not on any regular basis.  I figure I blocked the discharge Duce when I pierced my nipples with scare tissue.  But who knows.  I also get asked about mammograms.  I e had my first or baseline and this fall I will need to schedule my second.   As someone in the midst of studying the Old Testament, I can say that I haven’t found any mention of pending damnation for being transgender or intersex.  The closest it comes is a verse that says men should not wear women’s clothing.  Now I don’t know each and everyone’s particulars, but I know I meet the medical definition of female gender, and even in Ohio, a State that until recently refused to allow bitch certificates to be changed, I meet the criteria.  Therefore I can only conclude I am not a man wearing women’s clothing.  But there is a somewhat different scholarly explanation of that law that it should not be taken as literally as the haters want.  Mostly men should not pretend to be women to ex ape from their enemies. Or tried to hide from God.     willow

Well, the left wing has been doing that.    I read a few things while trying to find out what the problem is and liked what I read.  But I am a conservative.    Is there something specific in there that is of concern?  Does it promise somewhere to erase trans folk? That would be problematic.
    • Ivy
It's a plan to basically completely take over the government by the right wing.

I'm actually in Asheville tonight.  Some of the people in the support group invited me for dinner after the meeting.  We're going to get together again tomorrow again. It's been nice, 4 trans women and 1 trans man, together ar a restaurant.

I found https://www.project2025.org/policy/   I will have to read it.  I have not.  What is of concern?   The link provided earlier goes back to this forum.

My parents were life long Democrats.
    • Ivy
'Nuff said. Yeah I'm not thrilled with Biden either. There are some conservative ideas I'm good with.  And I do feel that the current Democratic party is too cozy with the bankers and wealthy.  But despite all their talk, when it comes down to it, so are the Republicans.  And it's not the Dems calling for our eradication. Unfortunately, I see this election as existential for trans folks.

Good evening everyone,   @Birdie your CNA Is ill informed about breast and proper bra fitting.   My wife and I are checking out a campground up in Michigan just a little North of Saginaw, MI. We had a great meal at a local tavern serving delicious perch fillet dinner.   We’re going to check out the Saginaw,MI Bay area for summer time activities for when we come back on occasion. We belong to a camping club call Adventure Outdoors and have free camping at their resorts around Michigan and Ohio.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I agree.   Biden has been known to switch positions without notice, whether on abortion, Gaza or gay marriage.  Most of what he has done has been via executive order and decision, so it does not carry the force of lasting law and can be easily reversed.  I really do not trust him at all.   Trump says a lot of things.  He switches his position all the time.  Most of what he wants to do will require legislation to accomplish, some of which will simply never become law.  I do not trust him at all.   I'm not sure which is worse for trans people specifically because of this, and the fact that the other issues that surround trans folk which I attempted to isolate this question from, but here I go :) also affect trans people along with everyone else.   In either case trans folk need to be prepared.
    • Carolyn Marie
I'm certain that there are some, if not many, but you would be hard pressed to find them willing to speak up on this forum.  There are many trans folk who are conservative, and believe that Biden's non-trans related policies are terrible.  Those include his economic, foreign policy, border security, and environmental policies.  I'm a lifelong Democrat, and even I don't like all of Biden's policies.  It comes down to who would do the most damage to the most people, and the most damage to America as a going democratic nation which has respect for the rule of law.   Carolyn Marie
