What awesome news @happyinvermont!!

That's an impressive training prop @Mmindy - what a skilled craftsperson you are.

3rd cup of coffee is finished. Today is the day to take out our trash and I have some outdoor projects to do...assuming the temps outside get somewhere above freezing. Spring is always a rollercoaster of sub-freezing to 60s and 70s temps here. I prefer the warmer temps.

Life's been good here - despite not having my therapy yesterday I'm feeling good. Happy. Content. Since I'm not able to fully transition - at least not at this point - I've been looking for strategies to keep grounded in my reality while having to portray my male self. It certainly tugs at my dysphoria but it's been manageable. Life is good.

Be safe and happy!!

That sure is an impressive training prop, @Mmindy ! It sure is a far cry from the stage props I'm used to, like rubber daggers and "blood" made from gelatin and red food coloring. 😊

Merry Thursday, everyone!

Just starting my second cup. The LGBT seniors center here in Queens is doing an event tomorrow for TDOV. They pick me up at 10ish and couldn't change that, but the event runs 2 to 4. I have a problem with fatigue and am worried about holding up that long, but now I'm remembering that when they take me home at 2 on regular days I'm still OK for a few hours. So hopefully I'll still be alert tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking forward to it. Our trans membership is pretty thin (me plus one woman who recently joined) but there are also a couple trans people on staff there, and tomorrow's event is intergenerational and I've been told more trans people will be coming for it, I guess from another LGBT center. Friday is the only day I'm around trans community in person (that I know of), and it's such a gift.

Today is the last day of my prop build for ISP. I down to labels, logos, and Thumb-drive PowerPoint set up. Photo inset it what the finished prop will look like.

Wow, Mmindy, that's amazing!

Good morning, Dillon

I'm glad you mentioned TDOV Day. I'd forgotten. I haven't heard of any events going on around here in Denver, but I'm sure there are. I'll check. Hang in there tomorrow. I hope your time at the event turns out to be deeply rewarding. (And say hello to Queens for me, will you? It's been a long time!)

I would love to attend a TDOV event. especially down here in West central FL.  Cannot find one in the area. I guess I will observe it on my own. nothing new there.

Not going to post that I have been enjoying the mid 80 degree weather. compared to the upper 50s at home.  However I'd rather be at home. Ain't gonna lie. Heading home on Monday. Seems to be a possible break in the weather.

Mom is doing much better, I have seen it since I have been here.

Hugs

Good evening

i had a pretty good day today.  I was even the senior person, no I don’t mean because of my age, for a couple hours.  A new person started this week and today was his first day on the register.  So with only three weeks under my belt I was senior.  In fact today was the first day I was allowed to be alone.

@Mmindy do you start with a propane tank and modify it or do you make the tank too?  That’s quite a training prop.

@KymmieL, glad your mom is doing better.  I can understand it’s hard to give up the nice temperatures but just like Dorothy, “There’s no place like home.”

I just wish I could get a cute pair of ruby red heels, click them three times and be home.

Good Morning,

I have work, but hopefully an easy day. Hopefully I'll get some time to relax over the weekend. I don't crossdress much as I don't have much opportunity and haven't come out yet. But I bought a new dress, so will be nice to try that on at some point.

Good morning, everyone! 1st cup of coffee is working its way through to jump start my system so I'm almost awake. We have some errands to run today - that will keep me busy.

Enjoy that warm weather while you can @KymmieL!!

Sometimes just knowing you have that new dress hanging in the closet is enough incentive to get you through the day. I hope you get some time this weekend to try yours on @kira_k!

Be safe...and happy.

Good morning and Happy International Trans Visibility Day to everyone!

@April Marie, "almost awake," indeed. I truly understand and I think that I may need to take my coffee intravenously today. Me, too with errands; dental checkup and groceries that I forgot yesterday.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

It's tea this morning instead of coffee. Upset stomach again.

A new dress is fun. I  hope you get to enjoy it soon.

A trans guy on staff at the center sent  me a link last evening to a documentary named Southern Comfort. It's about a trans man in Georgia and his chosen family. It was wonderful to see trans people who had already built a new life for themselves in the 1990s. I burst into tears when he talked about having lived as a lesbian for 20 years before he came out.

Trans Visibility Day.... hadn't heard of that til now.

I guess I'm rather visible right now...out scampering around this morning and working on the garden.  Things are beginning to get green, and the weeds are always first.

My endo sent me my latest labs. My T is completely suppressed. My E was low but in good shape. She is looking to increase my E. Maybe shots or ??? She was going to have hemotology take a look.

My mom is doing quite a bit better. The hospital miss read the EKG and thought she had A-fib. Thankfully she doesn't.

Heading home on Monday. Hope the weather clears, looks like the center of the nation is getting hammered with nasty weather. Anyone in the path be careful.

Hugs,

Good Friday evening

my work day is done and I’m off until Monday.  We are leaving early in the morning for Virginia and will be back late Sunday.

looking forward to seeing at least some of the family.  I’ll still be having my morning coffee just not at the kitchen table. I’ll likely check in here but not until late Saturday and Sunday.

Good morning, everyone!! 1st cup of coffee is on-board...and I'm ready for the second. Time to read the local paper and enjoy watching the sun come up. Rain today - but warmer - will keep me indoors. I've got several projects that I really want to get done at our home but can't do them when it's raining. So, probably a day of puttering around and reading a book for me.

What awesome news about your brother @ShawnaB!!! Having your whole family support and accept you is a true blessing.

Safe travels on your way home @KymmieL

Be safe...and happy today!!!

@April MarieGood morning april!

I'm going to put in the effort to keep the good vibes going here on my end. Though personally, I still have some serious procrastination issues to figure out before I can get my tasks done.

@ShawnaBGood morning shawna! There's nothing like family accepting you for who you are, congrats!

Good morning, everyone. I hope your days are starting well. I'm on my first cup and still feeling affirmation and community from attending the TDOV event yesterday. Today I rest. I manage the fibro fatigue, or try to  manage it, by having a full day of downtime after going out. So coffee, light housework, and reading today.

Tank you Willow,

The tank, box, and wheel legs on the prop is custom ordered Aluminum. The tank is manufactured by a local tank company. The rear box plates are shear cut from aluminum. All of the actual tank truck components are ordered through Gas Equipment Co. The only uses item is the propane pump. I buy them from several propane distributors at junk prices. I disassemble them and use the outer casing so they'll won't be so heavy.

People who have no understanding of transgender conditions should not be making policy for people dealing with it. Since it is such a small percentage of the population, and each individual is unique, and their circumstances are also unique, each situation needs to be worked with individually to see that the best possible solution is implemented for those involved.
    • Abigail Genevieve
No.  You are getting stuck on one statement and pulling it out of context.   Trans kids have rights, but so do non-trans kids.  That conflict is best worked out in the individual situation.
    • MaeBe
I get the concept, I believe. You're trying to state that trans kids need to or should be excluded from binary gender spaces and that you acknowledge that answers to accommodate those kids may not be found through policy. I disagree with the capability of "penetration" as being the operative delimiter in the statement, however. I contest this statement is poorly chosen at best and smacks of prejudice at worst. That it perpetuates certain stereotypes, whether that was the intent or not.   Frankly, all kids should have the right to privacy in locker rooms, regardless of gender, sexuality, or anatomy. They should also have access to exercise and activities that other kids do and allow them to socialize in those activities. The more kids are othered, extracted, or barred from the typical school day the more isolated and stigmatized they become. That's not healthy for anyone, the excluded for obvious reasons and the included for others--namely they get to be the "haves" and all that entails.
    • Abigail Genevieve
Context.  Read the context.  Good grief.
    • MaeBe
Please don't expect people to read manifold pages of fiction to understand a post.   There was a pointed statement made, and I responded to it. The statement used the term penetration, not "dissimilar anatomy causing social discomfiture", or some other reason. It was extended as a "rule" across very different social situations as well, locker and girl's bedrooms. How that term is used in most situations is to infer sexual contact, so most readers would read that and think the statement is that we "need to keep trans girl's penises out of cis girls", which reads very closely to the idea that trans people are often portrayed as sexual predators.   I understand we can't always get all of our thoughts onto the page, but this doesn't read like an under-cooked idea or a lingual short cut.

Have you read the rest of what I wrote?   Please read between the lines of what I said about high school.  Go over and read my Taylor story.  Put two and two together.   That is all I will say about that.

"I feel like I lost my husband," Lois told the therapist,"I want the man I married." Dr. Smith looked at Odie, sitting there in his men's clothing, looking awkward and embarrassed. "You have him.  This is just a part of him you did not know about. Or did not face." She turned to Odie,"Did you tear my wedding dress on our wedding night?" He admitted it.  She had a whole catalog of did-you and how-could you.  Dr. Smith encouraged her to let it all out. Thirty years of marriage.  Strange makeup in the bathroom.  The kids finding women's laundry in the laundry room. There was reconciliation. "What do we do now?" Dr. Smith said they had to work that out.  Odie began wearing women's clothing when not at work.  They visited a cross-dressers' social club but it did not appeal to them.  The bed was off limits to cross dressing.  She had limits and he could respect her limits.  Visits to relatives would be with him in men's clothing.    "You have nail polish residue," a co-worker pointed out.  Sure enough, the bottom of his left pinky nail was bright pink  His boss asked him to go home and fix it.  He did.   People were talking, he was sure, because he doubted he was anywhere as thorough as he wanted to be.  It was like something in him wanted to tell everyone what he was doing, and he was sloppy.   His boss dropped off some needed paperwork on a Saturday unexpectedly and found Odie dressed in a house dress and wig.  "What?" the boss said, shook his head, and left.  None of his business.   "People are talking," Lois said. "They are asking about this," she pointed to his denim skirt. "This seems to go past or deeper than cross dressing."   "Yes.  I guess we need some counseling."  And they went.

Mine would be SHEIN as much as I have bought from them lol.
    • MaeBe
This is the persistence in thinking of trans girls as predators and, as if, they are the only kind of predation that happens in locker rooms. This is strikingly close to the dangerous myth that anatomy corresponds with sexuality and equates to gender.
    • Abigail Genevieve
At the same time there might be mtf boys who transitioned post-puberty who really belong on the girls' teams because they have more similarities there than with the boys, would perform at the same level, and might get injured playing with the bigger, stronger boys.   I well remember being an androgynous shrimp in gym class that I shared with seniors who played on the football team.  When PE was no longer mandatory, I was no longer in PE. They started some mixed PE classes the second semester, where we played volleyball and learned bowling and no longer mixed with those seniors, boys and girls together.

People love bureaucracy.  It makes everything cut and dried, black and white, and often unjust, unmerciful, wasteful and downright stupid.
