Good morning!

Had a tweet from what used to be my 'alternate' 'trans twitter' account go so viral that both my kids came across it, even the one who hasn't been on Twitter for years, which led to transphobes chiming in and my first ever personal transphobic attack, so cross that milestone off the list.

The transphobes attack the looks of all the young attractive trans women so it's less effective when it comes your way. Anyway, have a good weekend!

Ugh. I'm so sorry you have to go through this @RhondaS - it never ceases to amaze me by how people hiding behind a keyboard feel entitled to judge others and how righteous they feel they are.

It's pretty sick.

Some of the comments are so hateful.  There are people I follow on there, but I don't really post stuff myself.

Yeah I can imagine meeting someone new I hope they meet your expectations. What happened to your old therapist?

Thanks @Ashley0616Yes. She seems excellent. Open, non-judgmental, not afraid of difficult discussion topics, willing to work with my writing style, and experienced with many other trans folks. My previous therapist was inexperienced and too timid—she couldn't deliver much  feedback. The new one seems eager to share her experiences and insights. Plus, she's an ally from the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. I feel both well cared-for and relieved to have found her. If the mind/body idea is true—it should even help my sore back. 💜

Yesterday went to Boston for a show, the place had restrooms marked as 'stalls' or 'stalls and urinals', that was new to me!

Good morning and Happy Mother's Day! We worked hard around our home yesterday - power washing the porches and outside furniture and then setting it all out. Then we had a quick dip in the pool before going to church.

Our priest focused his homily on mothers and Mother's Day. Towards the end he asked all mothers to stand up to receive a special prayer...and then offered for anyone who identified as female to rise also. He is one of the few people who know my status - I have not come out publicly so I remained seated. My wife looked back at me and reached out her hand to take mine and whispered "I will stand for both of us." I had to work hard to hold back the tears.

Today will be a rest day. I hope you all have a wonderful and love-filled day.

Be safe and find the goodness in this day we've been given.

Happy Mother's Day to all. Went to church and no one suspected that I was an MTF. My voice was ok and was definitely struggling which is why I can't wait to have surgery for that and it will be effortless. Hope y'all have a good day!

Most of the coffee kiosks around here are tiny, with no dine-in, just cars pulling up on either side of the kiosk.

Hey there Chloe,

We used to have several drive up coffee kiosks here in the Indianapolis, IN area. They seemed to take over the abandoned drive up FotoMats. Then FiveBucks coffee moved into the area and drove them out of business.

That's really awesome to see!  The kiosk where I work isn't quite that small, though it seems tiny sometimes!

The whole era of FotoMats is before my time obviously.  Did they really develop pictures there?  It really seems too small for that.  I would guess they sent the film somewhere at night to be developed.

Yes Chloe, they had to send the film off to be developed, but you could buy replacement film as you dropped off your exposed film. Then Polaroid self developing film cut into the business edging out Kodak. Then they both got hit hard when cameras went digital.

I always wanted to get into photography more, but couldn't afford the film and all.  When the digital cameras came in, it opened up a new world.  Once you had the camera, you could take unlimited pix, and just delete the crap and save the best stuff.  Then add in photoshop, and you can crop, and play with layers, adding text - I mean wow.

Unfortunately, having a phone with a camera, I seldom carry my Nikon around anymore.  I need to get back to it.

I don't remember something like FotoMat, but when I was a kid the digital cameras weren't a thing yet. There were shops that developed photos onsite, and you'd get back a stack of pictures a few days later.  There was also a "1 hour photo" place.  But the big thing I remember was that the police department where my father and uncle worked had a photography specialist and a darkroom.  I don't think that exists anymore.  Some people still use film cameras for art purposes, but I think they often develop their own.  My husband has an older Nikon film camera with a big lens that he used when he was in high school.  It gathers dust in some storage box now, but he took some really interesting shots 20 years ago.

I thought of getting into photography and I rented a good Nikon camera when I was in school, but my pictures were never better than average.  Not really my thing.

Good morning, everyone!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day to celebrate themselves or someone. It was sunny but windy and a bit cool here but beautiful nonetheless.

Lots of projects and running around to do, today.

Kodak was the leader in film photography as the digital era began. They bought out one of the first companies to develop a digital imaging platform and then pretty much let it die. Their position was "digital photography will never replace 35mm film." Now they are out of the photography business.

Stay safe and find the goodness in this beautiful day!!!

Good morning, sunny and going to 90 in the mid-south today. I am finding the photography chat interesting. I remember when the family photos were in black in white and you took your film to the 'drug store' (neighborhood pharmacy) to be developed. You went to a photographer to have portraits done for special occasions. I had college friends who had their own dark rooms, the chemicals were foul. I worked in the cell phone industry and remember the first time I saw a 'camera phone' prototype. It was a laptop and 3 circuit boards that looked like a hobby kit. I do remember that everybody at the time thought that phones with cameras were anything but a silly gimmick. Oops!

Morning Everyone. Coffee is ready. Had a great day yesterday with the wife. I took her off roading. We did a trail called Miller rock down in CO. She enjoyed it as much as I did.

Being together for going on 38 yrs. We tease each other, in all good fun. So, she was teasing me about getting me a Jeep.

"get a Ruby for Ruby for her/him"

Kinda surprised that she made that slip up. She does recognize my female side.

As a teen, I did develop and print some B&W film.  I had a red light and used a tiny table in a closet.  Never had an enlarger.  All the prints were small, probably around 2"X2".  But it was fun.  I went wild when I finally got a digital camera.  That wasn't till the early 2000's.  I have a lot (too many) of pix on discs.

It's still fun playing with the focus, and depth of field, just experimenting.

Yes Ivy, the digital camera leveled the playing field for the hobby photographer. I still like taking pictures of the birds at my Winter Feeders, as well as off season wildlife in the woods.

Good morning everyone.:coffee:

Find and get in touch with the closest LGBTQ center near you and (1) they will know of programs that employ Trans people willingly and (2) will have ways to get you competent legal help to break you free of your family and their controlling and damaging behavior toward you.  I do not know Canadian Law on this, but here where I am you could get a court order to stop them from interfering in your life.  Gender Dysphoria is not a mental health issue that should keep you from managing your personal affairs.  The people at those centers know what we go through and are ready to help you.

I'll try!     I still have no desire at all to start wearing skirts and dresses, and I don't have the curves to justify wearing women's jeans or slacks. I think the furthest I will go is maybe some pretty and androgynous tops one day. That's what appealed to me with the hoodie - it just looked so much nicer than any of those on offer from the men's department.

Hello.   My name is not Shelli but for my safety i have to use this name here.   Im looking for advice.   In canada conversion therapy is illegal. My family has employed a psiciatrist to comversion therapy me covertly. I am 45 and the administrator of a wealthy families estate.   I have been fleeing this for about 7 years. It began by me having mtf grs. I was supposed to have ffs and top and vocal aswell. They allowed the bottom surgery. Then began getting social workers, the psyc and an accountant to slander me from town to town as i tried to get work and stablity in my life. I eventually went back to male atire to try and hide and restart transition. Each time they wojld find out where i was and it would start again.   I spoke out about it and now they claim i destroyed there lives by seeking help and that im an adult child since i cant get a job while they do this so that i cant as i would take control of the families fortune. They have had this psyciatrist diagnose me falsly with scizophrenia, upsetting me then bipolat, borderline, psicotic, and so much more. They have even tried getting me framed for crimes i never commited.   Im terrified, living in the woods, off hormones and even when i turn to the lgbt community in my area they have convinced many of them that im a trans man etc etc etc.   It never ends.   I would like to hear any advice.

This is a good point. For instance, way back when I was still in grade school, my older brother and I learned how to play golf with our dad. It's always been a favorite pastime. When I went to my high school reunion a year and a half ago, I met the 40-something year old daughter of a former classmate. Her job and my family structure (adoption) got us talking, and she loves to play golf. Instant new friend. If I hadn't been transitioning, I would not have chosen that group of ladies to sit with.    I've also enjoyed shooting for the past 50 years. I went to renew my concealed carry license last September, and there was one other woman, a couple years older, in attendance, and we connected. I've been to her home and met her husband, a retired pilot. I'm a retired air traffic controller, she works at a local airport museum. She's part of a small ladies shooting group, all aviation enthusiasts, and she and I have been to the range together. I've met some of the others, and we'll all go to the range as a group from time to time.   Sorry. Long-winded way of saying that transitioning doesn't have to mean throwing away every aspect of the old you in order to grow as the real you.

Get ready for another damn RANT! I have helped my ex that I had kids with over and over again! I told her at the beginning of the month I had a meeting in Jackson, MS for trans people. She said ok. Today she asked if I would help her move to her new apartment because her current one is getting unlivable the same freaking day as the meeting! She of course played it off like oh I don't remember you telling me that. I'm so pissed off right now that I can't see straight. I'm trying to keep my cool because I do have the kids and I don't want to bad mouth her to them! She makes it so hard to even just respect her. Every time her text message or phone call on my phone it feels like my blood boils! I seriously don't know how much crap I can take before I snap on her. She uses them as an excuse all the damn time! I have to end it before I use more colorful language!

My husband and I watched this show last night. It's a platform for genderqueer comics and a response to Netflix's shoddy record of non-allyship, we'll say.   “The last time Netflix brought this many trans people together, it was for a protest. So, progress!” Gadsby jabs in the trailer: https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/hannah-gadsby-netflix-special-gender-agenda-queer-comedy-1235907944/   Some of the comics were better than others. But overall I found it amusing, affirming, and joyful. Watch it and share what u think.

Have you tried a dark room, meditation, and maybe hyperventilating into a paper bag, to ease your breathing pace?   I'm also glad that you have a therapist who is available on short notice.   Digital Hugs are still from the heart. >HUGS<   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
