For the last couple of days, my husband has rescued me from my overly energetic GF.  He had a couple of days' worth of paperwork to do in his office, so he just took me to work with him and made a nest for me there.  Its really cold outside right now, so I have no enthusiasm to do anything but curl up in my nest, do art on my laptop, or be in a nice warm kitchen.

GF keeps dragging home one thing after another.  Cardboard boxes, big wooden crates....more and more stuff.  Almost midnight now and she's still in her shop.  I went out to convince her to shower and come to bed, and she gave me that look.  :?  I'm gonna let my husband handle her...I know better than to try.

Good morning fine people!

Management at the day-centre I'm sure are not pleased as at least half the staff have stated addressing me as "she/ma'am."

One CNA told me, "I have taken you to the bathroom, and you are more woman than you are male."

On a different note, turkeys were on sale so I brought one and deboned it creating 6 sandwich bags of meat. I will have turkey tacos for about a week.

Of course I almost fell a couple times transferring at the centre only to fall really hard home alone last night breaking my glasses and splitting my eyebrow open. I need to be careful.

Other than that, things are about the same. This part of Texas is still 50% anti-trans like always.

Morning y'all.

I've always admired your courage @Birdie, and I continue to be amazed at what you have accomplished in the face of adversity. I hope your injuries heal quickly. You might now have an opportunity to get some new glasses that are even more...fashionable! 😉 In the meantime, please remain upright and eat turkey! 😀

Ouch!! @Birdie, be careful!! Fall as we age are our biggest nightmare. But I agree with Mirrabooka that with adversity come opportunity so new glasses could be a fun fashion adventure.

@Mirrabooka - you know how to rub it in, don't you? lol It's 23 and snowing here right now. It's also been tremendously windy adding to the cold feel. Ugh. Summer can't get here fast enough.

We got our Christmas tree, put it up and decorated it yesterday. We have an 8' artificial tree we put in our dining room and then get a big Fraser Fir for the Great Room. This one is about 12' tall without the topper. It looks amazing.

Be safe. Stay warm...and upright!!!!

Wow - huge trees @April Marie! Is your surname Griswold? lol

Anyway, if it makes you feel better, it won't get over 80 here tomorrow. A wet, stormy day is predicted.

Well, not exactly the Griswolds but I'd love a Christmas nightgown with "Shi**er's Full!" on it and what I wouldn't give to have Ellen Griswold's figure. lol

We actually have a day coming in the low 40s. A heat wave!

Good morning

very nice having the Christmas decorations back as well as the snow.  I’ve had thought of how nice it would be to sit in front of a cozy fire looking out on snow flakes falling.  It’s 28 or -2 to the rest of the world here. Except for the lack of precipitation reminds me of growing up in Ohio.  Speaking of growing up which is really just growing older, i am about to do that too.  Not only but I have to be at work by 4am and work 10 hours.  Yesterday turned out to be nearly 11 hours.  And Sunday, normally a day I don’t work I have to work 5 hours.  Scheese!

well, I’m off to Charleston to get scanned and stuck with a needle or several.  Three different appointments at least they are all in the same place.

time to smash a couple of colored lights.  Oh, I put up a tree for the first time in a number of years this year.  It’s lit and topped but for now only has two ornaments on it.  @April Marie mine is a mere 71/2 foot tree.

I agree totally. I want to ride so bad.

20 degrees at the airport. which is about a mile as the crow fly's. To dark to see the fenceometer. I need to teach my sheltie to read it for me. LOL.

I am hoping that I can get my oldest to visit on my Bday. But doubtful. He and the family were in Colorado. over Thanksgiving Yet couldn't stop by. Then again He says he had a cold and didn't want to pass it. Not sure I want to believe it or not. I hope he isn't avoiding me, again.

I miss my oldest. But I know how he has to feel about me being trans. Because of my DIL. That is why I have slowed to a snails pace with my transition. When I fist came out to him. he said no mater what I will still love you. Yet, after he got home from work. That all changed, and didn't see my oldest grandson and my only granddaughter for almost 2 yrs. During that time he tells my wife she should divorce me. When I told our middle son, he blew a gasket and ripped his brother up and down.  Our oldest listens to my DIL. instead of making up his own mind and sticking to what he believes.

Have a good TGIF everyone

My neighbour a few doors down informed me this morning that new residents are confusing me with being a cis women. He has taken the initiative to inform "all of them" that "I am just a F'd up sick old man that should be living in any other state besides Texas."

Too bad the can't just mind his own business!

Finally got my butt out of the house again.  I'd been hiding at home for at least a week - other than the grocery store and getting propane for the heaters.

I've just been really depressed to be honest.  I should stop looking at the news.

made myself go to the coffee shop to hang out around people for a bit.

Awe, bless, I like to go walking in the countryside to uplift my spirits,  it is a sad fact that the news is always themed around negative confutations. My partner passed away four years ago (Dennis) and since his passing friends of ours have always said and kept in touch, each Wednesday I get picked up and taken out for a meal this Wednesday just gone we went to our favourite haunt, the red fox

Yeah, we still need that.  My daughter kinda "lives" with me, but I seldom see her.  She's been at her boyfriend's for the last couple of days.  I think his place is warmer LOL.

@Ivy The winter we lived on our boat I tried to heat it with an electric heater.  That kept it from freezing but didn’t do much to keep it house warm. I added a propane heater and even on low we would have to turn that off.  At night we snuggled under an electric blanket.  Believe it or not a great many sailboats use wood stoves or coal heaters with a smokestack up through the top often near the mast.

all summer long my wife didn’t want the ac on much so I thought I’d have issues getting her to let the temperatures drop in the winter. That hasn’t been an issue either.

9 hour day went well today.  Tomorrow is 5 hours.

It's one of the reasons I want to get back into the workforce ASAP; I am such an extrovert. I get to exercise those work/social muscles on Monday, a former employee of mine is in town for work and he wants to introduce me to the company. It will be great to see him and also great to have a chance to mingle with people that may be interested in hiring me. There are no guarantees or even openings that I'm aware of, but I have yet to lose confidence in myself to think I can't make a positive impression. That said, I had to come out to that friend on a call today so I wasn't showing up without him knowing who I am. I was worried he may have an issue with me. He's from Texas and I know he has a strong faith background, which I know doesn't mean anything, but it ended up being nothing. We just kind of breezed past it and he was like "that's not a problem for me or this company". Huh! Given some of the things I'd heard about the org, I was more worried about that than my old friend, but I am happy to put my best foot forward on Monday; meeting his colleagues and learning some things about the organization.

I'm giddy!

H-E-Double Hockey Sticks! What am I going to wear? And I have to be on the road by 6:00. Do I sleep in my makeup?! XD

Found out my grandfather on my mom's side gave me some things. He was in the trades as well, a plumber and gave me his Milwaukee recipicating saw he bought new from 1953 which still works. All of his plumbing tools as well. He is 98 years old and still gets around very well. Does also love and accept me dressed as Hailey too. Said he loves his grand kids no matter what, everyone of them is different in a good way and this cannot be changed

29 is a nice morning temp for here.  Frost is a given most of the days. I'm glad I have remote start.

Well the wife did it again. She bought our middle son another car. our black Friday sale. She picked up a 2008 Mercury Sable premier AWD. It is a nice car, as any $500 car it needs a little. Dr door window won't move is half way down. Was mega duct taped. and needs a right front axle hub. nothing I can't fix.  I would like to keep it. however, we have 7 here as it is. So the sable is #9. I just hope he or mostly my DIL doesn't trash it.

I invited my oldest to visit me on my birthday, in 2 weeks. He said he'll try. That is all I ask.

I was shopping at Torrid yesterday when a client came in to purchase some clothes. He/she (not sure of their pronouns) had fairly large breasts that I would estimate at about a D cup.

They bought several items including lingerie.

The receding hairline and deep voice made their biological gender rather obvious, but staff treated the person with utmost respect.
No one batted an eye and attended to their shopping needs without hesitation.
Even more impressive was the fact that nothing was said amongst the staff after the client had left. They shopped at Torrid without being judged in the least. To me that was rather impressive being that we are in the Bible Belt of Texas.

There is a glimmer of hope in Texas, however I am sure it's not everywhere that person goes. Even in boy-mode years ago I caught hell over my chest and hips here in Texas, and that was in bib overalls and baggy shirts.

Good morning

heat wave! It’s 34 this morning.  Ok that’s still cold for here but at least it’s. not frosty the snowman cold.

@KymmieL at least your son said he would try.  We get to see ours next week for a few hours as he overnights in Charleston again.  This is the most we have seen him in years at the holidays.  Our daughter?  Nope!

I have to leave shortly. A working woman never rests no matter how old they are.

3am, and I'm just now getting ready for bed.  I'm going to be exhausted and probably hung over in the morning.  Its definitely been a weekend.

I discovered something interesting this weekend... my husband and my younger friend get along absurdly well together.  Even though they've done some singing together and a few other things, its kind of unique in a way I'm just now beginning to understand.  She's college age, and totally different from him in just about everything.  But get a little alcohol in both of them, and they become quite the comedy duo, riffing off each other for hours.  Its like they have the same odd sense of humor.

We started Friday night with a bonfire, meant just for our family, the neighbors, and some friends.  My husband had some drinks since we're on our own property and he doesn't have to drive anywhere.  It got hilarious.... stand-up comedy, original off-the-cuff songs, etc...  So we continued with Round 2 tonight, and the same thing happened.  Ended up inviting over more friends to watch the show, who texted some other friends, and they brought more meat for the grill and it just kept going.  We ended up with a field full of cars, impromptu live music as folks brought instruments, and new food and drink added to the grill and the feast table.

I swear, our living room looks like a college frat house.  My husband insists on folks staying instead of driving home if they don't have a sober ride, so we've got random people on the floor and couches. :? The aftermath outside is going to take some serious cleanup.  I want to curl up in my nest, and I can't even find my GF.  Gonna be hard to wake up for service in the morning...

It sounds loke quite the party @awkward-yet-sweet! I got about 3 hours of sleep last night so I understand your thoughts on getting up for services. lol Coffee. Coffee. More coffee.

It 33 here this morning with no frost. A little breezy now but supposed to warm up into the low 40s for the next few days with rain on Monday. That will make our road, an improved farm road meaning dirt and gravel, a muddy mess until we drop below freezing again.

Sending good thoughts for you both @KymmieL and @Willow.

Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.

Decided to go to church as Hailey once again this morning and tons of positive compliments on the dress I wore. Plus met a new member, a single mom with a 15 year old son whom has autism and she recently found out he likes to crossdress. Good thing is she is supportive and is aware of the LGBTQ issues with people with autism. Told her I have autism too and met her son as well

@Sally Stone Sorry, self indulgent, self pitying rant!!!  I'll go back in my box, now!
    • Nats
@Sally Stone  Yes I know, in my more objective moments.  You're right, of course.      For my part, I've completely lost faith in British voters. They voted for Brexit, and for me the generation that did that (mine) is lost for ever, there's no rowing back from that, and no forgiveness, on my part.    Even now there are large numbers of people who genuinely think that was the right thing to do.    They made Boris Johnson Prime Minister (mini Trump, he played a clown but was actually far more intelligent than Trump - which in my view, makes him worse).  They did that twice (the second time with a bigger majority).     Worse, they then made Liz Truss PM.  And then acted with such surprise when she crashed the economy.  I mean, really?!?  That surprised you?!?    And out there in the UK provinces there are people in Conservative Party branches who genuinely, honestly believe that she was somehow right, in defiance of logic, common sense and evidence. And btw Conservative Party branches in the UK provinces are TERF incubators, with all the indoctrination you could ask for.     I have never felt like this - it's a new thing for me, to be so far, in spirit, from my own country - but I am completely distanced from the majority of British voters. I'm not a party member - left or right - but years ago, Labour was taken over by the extreme left, and the Conservatives by th extreme right.  Labour went back to the centre, the Conservatives didn't.  That party is led by people who are off-the-chart in terms of ideological barminess.  And yes, they have trans people in their sights in the 'Woke wars'.      I feel betrayed by British voters, alienated, I find it hard not to regard most of them as deeply, deeply unintelligent, and not very nice human beings.  I don't want to be associated with them. I look at neighbours through narrowed eyes wondering how they voted, and if I don't know, I'm reserved and withdrawn with them.   I know I take it too personally, but it's hard not to.    There is now a UK Labour (think 'Democrat') Govt with a big majority that generally doesn't do the sort of nasty stuff that's happening in Montana but many of Labour's seats were won with slender majorities, so the win was broad but not deep.      I mean, after everything, large numbers of people still voted Conservative.    What on earth was going on in their heads?      Labour has made some quite big, annoying missteps, but nothing, absolutely nothing in comparison to the car crash bad joke that UK Government was for years, and years, and years.   I know it's not just a UK issue and seeing this utterly idiotic rubbish in the US (which we do all the time, of course) reminds me of that.    *Sigh*.    This too will pass, I guess.  Not sure I'll be around to see it, though.    Didn't someone on here ask if we were optimists or pessimists a few days ago?!?

Hello, my name is Ash and I’m currently in therapy and I’m trying to come out. The problem is that my therapist isn’t sure if I’m really trans, because I’m not as motivated as other patients. But that is because I’m kinda scared. I alr tried to talk to my mom but she doesn’t seem to understand, doesn’t matter how hard I try and she says that she doesn’t want to call me Ash because my therapist isn’t sure about me wanting to be a boy. Idk if I should try talking with my dad. He seems more understanding. It’s just so hard. Idk what to do. I feel like I have to be two people at once. Idk how to come forward. My therapist suggested to get help through forums. So someone please help me🙏🙏
    • Sally Stone
The problem with voters is that we are lazy and don't take the time to research a legislator's track record.  If we really dug into a legislator's record to see if their work has been meaningful or effective, there are many we wouldn't re-elect.  A bathroom bill to restrict the rights of transgender; come on, when would that ever be effective or meaningful legislation?  If we keep giving these oxygen thieves a pass, we will keep getting the congress and senate we deserve.
    • Sally Stone
In so many ways, it's all about the money.  Bills that deny transgender rights don't cost a lot of money.  Real legislation often carries hefty expense, which is why enacting such legislation requires hard work.  Pass an easy bill, award yourself a trophy, pass a hard bill award yourself a trophy.  It isn't hard to see why we are the target of our legislators.
    • VickySGV
"State Representative to people:  I have just introduced legislation to repair Highway ## that goes by your homes and makes all your business and social life possible by removing ??? potholes and dangerous ??? that wear your cars and trucks out fast and endanger your lives daily.   Constituents:  Yes YEAH, golly great !!!   State Rep:  The work is however going to raise you property taxes by 3 cents per square mile of area!!   Constituents:  "Impeach the walrus!!  Get the tar and feathers and a rail to ride him out of state on!!   --------------------------------------------- So the State Rep - introduces legislation against Trans People, and its alright again if he does not tell them what it means for their Highway to cost them next to nothing.
    • VickySGV
With that on the shelf, now they can turn their minds to such things as recovery from the weather related damage that has been done in their state and improvement of their state owned and maintained roads, public health issues for the general public which are not being addressed while Trans issues are debated and (heaven help them) education can be addressed.  Our health needs are hundredths of pennies (.001 cents) compared to the needs for local water and sewer systems, and even electrical systems that are the shared resources of all of their citizens.  Only problem is that they have to speak of money that is real, and may need a tax increase to see that the majority of citizens who elected them are safe and able to conduct their daily life and affairs.  We can't have that can we!!!

An item that is implied here is to get us out of the limelights and cross-hairs of the politicians long enough to get our real work done which is to bolster science and facts at hand and give the medical profession tools to do its job.  I think that is what Levine is suggesting for our future and I am for it, since she does note our resilience.  We have become the low hanging fruit when an "ISSUE" was needed to show actions to mask their ineffectiveness in the TRUE sense of government involvement in the daily lives of people.  1.6% of the population being the center of focus leaves 98.4% without meaningful representation.
    • Ivy
That would be back in the closet for me. I live openly as a woman, but it's not hard to clock me.   Sure, I have the option of getting a male wardrobe, letting my facial hair grow out, tossing my wig, etc.  I could wear loose clothes so my breasts wouldn't be as obvious.  I got away with that for years, and I think I could pull it off again. My name might still be a problem though.  My State only lets me change it once, and I've already used that option.  I wonder if I'd need a health care person to sign off on changing my gender back to male? I suppose I could still wear a dress around the house as long as I never answered the door.  My online history might still be a problem though.   Apparently they do, because they keep electing these people.
    • Nats
Unbelievable to me that voters accept that an elected body would waste its time on something as idiotic as this.  Have they not got much on?  If they're bored, and dreaming up wheezes to pass their time, then what is their House actually for? Is it worth the expense?   Aren't there any more substantive issues affecting voters?     You could work out what it cost to pass this legislation, at least roughly.   Divide the total annual running costs by the number of hours they sat, so you have an hourly cost, then multiply by the number of hours spent on this garbage.  Add in any additional costs (consultants, suppliers, expenses incured by members on this topic) if they weren't covered in the annual running costs.     I'm guessing it will be $hundreds-of-thousands.  Do the voters really think it was worth that or do they think there are more important things they should have been doing?
    • Vidanjali
Thank you so much. I literally just got back from the post office where I sent to them my used but unmarked copy of "You and Your Gender Identity: A Guide to Discovery", the excellent workbook by Dara Hoffman-Fox. I was concerned it might cause an uproar in their household. But they are excited to get it and asked me to not worry and just send it. And that's a nice idea - I'll let them know about TP too.    @MaeBe I also loved the theme song in the closing credits. The film almost would have been anticlimactic without it. But in that sense, you kinda knew it was coming, else you'd think they'd have edited out all the anticipatory scenes. I do think Wiig was sincere - the song struck a balance between humorous and touching while being respectful...and with a jazzy part lol. A friend is a friend is a friend to the end.
