@Jamie68 It sounds like you found a good thing.  Long drive, but worth it, I know.  I can't Imagine doing this without my therapist.  That's a significant step.

The baby shower at work went OK I guess. TBH it was a little boring. We sat around for 20 minutes waiting on food. After we ate the mother-to-be opened the gifts. There's a breast feeding kit called the THE TIT KIT, who knew? Seems rather bold for a product name and then there's lactation cookies (?). I don't know how much of this I need or really want to learn about. It's like studying for a test I'll never take. I was over dressed compared to the other ladies but several did tell me I looked really nice.

Change of topic.

At the end of last night I asked my wife what was up with her using my name when the nurse came looking for me since she promised to dead-name forever. She said she's testing-the-waters. So we're definitely making progress on that front.

impatiently waiting for 8:00. I have a dentist appointment. I have a tooth that is about an 8 on the pain scale. started Wednesday. Today was the earliest I could get in. Dr. doesn't want me taking anything for the pain so she can get an accurate pain rating(?)Yeah, it flipping hurts.

The other position I applied for in Spokane valley wanted me to come in for an in person interview at 1pm today. Even after I told them I was still in WY. OH well. Right now I feel that my best chance on getting out of here is with my own company.

Hugs,

I would guess the baby shower ranked right up there with a Tupper ware party. I've always thought all those kind of events were boring. The good part was that you were invited, and treated the same as any other woman.

I hesitate saying this because my therapist just told me about it. It looks like the grieving process is getting over with your wife and she's starting to accept you as you are more. YAY!

I hope your tooth feels better soon!

You could suggest that they do the interview by Zoom or Skype or something.  This is 2021: everyone uses technology for meetings.  They would still get to read your facial expressions and see how you present yourself, which is why they ask for in-person interviews.

Good morning all. Been so busy last couple of days. I did do some investigating this morning and just found out that HRT will not effect me as far as my FAA flight medical. As long as I have no issues on it the FAA has no issues with me so I can keep on flying on HRT. 1 obstacle gone. Moving forward.🤗

They said I have the full support of my company. I’m giggly and giddy needless to say. So when I go back to work everything will be different. I’m officially full time.

This is very good news Emily,

How is everything else going? I hope when you get back to work there's a lift crane on your service truck. I remember when I was a young mechanic, thinking it was a waste of space on the service truck. Later I would use it to set tires, and other things off or on the truck. "Work Smart Not Hard" all of a sudden had new meaning.

That's great Tasha,

I follow a few of trans-women on YouTube.  One is a Pilot, the other two are Flight Attendants, they seem to have full support of their employers.

Best wishes, and good luck with the FAA Physical.

@MmindyThank you. I have been flying for almost 43 years but just never looked into the regulations for this. I am a commercial pilot but wasn’t sure if I could. I was kind of scared to look until now.

Hi girls. I'm not sure what to talk about here, but the coffee sure smells great.

I guess here is where I join? Pilots license. I'm no pilot but I have a CDL class B with P indorsement for the last 8 years.

Physicals. Every year, everything counted against me to get my medical card...so I went back to my personal doctor and one doctor to another...I was fit to drive, every year for 8 years. I'm retired now and happy that is over with.

Good afternoon Linda,

The coffee was HOT, black, and strong,

I'm also on the CDL Class A, Hazmat, Tanker, Motorcycle endorsement truck, and because I'm type ll diabetic my DOT physical card is restricted to an annual physical. I'm cool with that, and will keep my certifications as long as I can, even into retirement. If I want to pick up a part time driving job I won't have to retake any tests. I'm a self employed, teaching fire departments, and chemical manufactures how to handle cargo tank crashes. I cover everything from product transfers, environmental issues, to public relations aka news media. I use to get paid for what I do, now I get paid for what I know.

Oh by the way, I love the flower print with or without the sweater.

Hugs,

Well back from the dentist. My tooth was all cracked up. But she was able to get it fixed. said I may need a root canal. I just called back and scheduled it. Not gonna wait to see how it is just going to do it.

Kymmie,

I couldn't help but laugh at the possible Funny Bone joke here. Why do they call it the funny bone when no one ever laughs after hitting it? Welcome to Smile's a comedy shop for your teeth, we'll crack you up.

No really, I hope you keep your teeth healthy and on a regular visit to your dentist.

Had a CDL B for years when I drove for the city.  Since we were local government we could skip the physicals.

Had to run a bunch of errands this morning.  Had a guy try to pick me up at the grocery store.  Although I was full fem as usual, I believe he was thinking of me as a gay guy.  It was kinda weird.  I'm like 70 years old.  I really don't know how to think about it.  I was friendly and all, but just wanted to go back home.

I'm so far behind on all the news. I was able to occasionally read it, but I haven't had time to post anything. It sounds like mostly good news for just about everybody. @KymmieLI'm sorry to hear about your tooth. Other than that, I'm happy to hear that things are going so well. 😊

Hi Mindy things have actually been really good. I’m officially presenting full time and everything will be changed when I go back to work. My service truck is at home with me if I have tools on it I refuse to leave it somewhere. My truck has a crane on and it is used daily, I’ve been told I don’t play nice with others so my crane is my 2nd set of hands and I couldn’t live with it out. I also refuse to drive a small service truck, because what I work on a small truck is useless but then again I’m picky. How are things with you I hope there going good.

I'm, glad things are moving in the right direction for you. I understand not leaving your truck somewhere else. Co-workers think if you're off work, you surely wouldn't mind if I borrow this tool, and I'll put it back when you ask for it. We had a saying in our shop: "If you borrow something more than three times, you need to buy one."-ToolMonkey

Well I haven't actually told her I'm trans yet, just lesbian but that was last year. It's been maybe a bit over a year I've been trans without her knowing. I have a journal, but I come here more often so I can get advice. Also, in fear that she may find it. I could try to talk to a counselor if I return in person back to school. But, I'm afraid of doing so since last time the counselors at my middle school told people everything. I'm in high school now but I'm afraid this may happen again.. I don't know much people who will accept it although, I did have some friends but they drifted away and found new friends to replace me. Next year I may try to get a passport and see if I could travel to another country (even for a bit) and meet some friends without my mom knowing they accept that stuff. 🤫 Thanks for your advice I'll try to use it the best I can.

Some of the reasons cited above I'm sure are valid, but i also know that there has always been a "gender premium" on many goods and services, and often for no good reason.  For example, dry cleaning, even for easy things like slacks or shirts, are more expensive for women's clothes than for men's.  The price of a haircut, same.  I know that studies and surveys have documented these variations based on gender.  Some states have tried to reign in such price gouging, but I'm not sure how successful those laws are.   Carolyn Marie

Taylor, it sounds a lot like your Mother is fearful. The reactions of anger and aggression are ways for her to try to distance herself from the conversation (it is a type of emotional unavailability). Jandi is really accurate in her view that cis-gender people really can't fundamentally seem to understand us. It may not be super helpful to try to tell your Mom about your dysphoric feelings and such, as she may simply shut down and make you both suffer. (NOT intentionally!) You have done your "job" by telling her and being open, AND you must know: none of this can ever (and will never) be "your fault!" You can not cause happiness or sadness in anyone but yourself! Maybe your mom will come to terms with you or maybe she will not, but if you need to vent, it may be best to do it on this forum or even in your own journal. It seems weird to "vent to yourself" but just getting the words out, whether outloud or in writing seems to really help! Can you talk to a therapist at school or somehow in your community? Your age may be your advantage here (use it!). Good luck S.

I can kind of understand how she could be worried since I may experience threats or bullying. She doesn't seem comfortable with me growing up. It seems she doesn't like me around people who have more privileges like going out alone or shopping alone. I hope she'll accept me in the future or believe that I'll be ok. I still want her apart of my life since she's always been there for me I hope she could sort of grow to understand me though. Yeah, I think that she sees it like that too. Like "I thought you were my daughter. Who are you now? Have you never been my child..?" I wrote several pages explaining that I get that viewpoint but that I'm still me just with a different look kind of? (that's when I was planning to tell her I was trans). Like your daughter's still here but now she's your son. I never gave her the paper though. When I wanted to it was always a bad time. So, it got lost in her car. Either that or she found it and dumped it so I'd think I lost it to avoid a situation where she'd be upset with who I was and me witnessing it. 😕 I still love my mom and I suppose if I must portray the act of a girl to make her happy then I guess I'll just have to learn to accept that. 😞

10 min daily planks.  Hopefully you'll get back to swimming sometime.  I picked up running just before my 40th.  I ran in high school but injured my knee and picked up smoking.  I can understand about swimming, I love to swim as well but nervous about being in public in a swimsuit right now.

Thank you for your prayers Mindy. The surgery gave me everything I hoped for, from no more internal pain to an improved  exterior. All I need now is a little more time to finish healing. I am also glad Aurora is doing so well.   Hugs, Mike

well my parents wasn't accepting when i first came out and i think trying now i think i understand their view because it might be like "who have you been then?" to them, but we're really still just us
    • Jandi
I think she may just be worried about you - not necessarily in a hostile way. As a parent of grown children, it's not easy to watch them grow up and into themselves.  As a parent you have to let it happen and realize that they are their own person, with their own life.  And it will be different than yours was. I'm not sure that any of us "have it together" as much as we want to believe. And I'm not sure a cis person can really understand what it's like for us.  We just have to try to love each other and do the best we can with what we have.   Probably not much help for you at the moment though.
    • KymmieL
I would too. That was our requirement. when I got out in 92.   Kymmie

I'm kinda old too and don't try to be "stylish". Also, I have sewn a few things, but fabric is high. My skin is much more sensitive as well, but that's part of it, isn't it. As for the pay scale… that's just sexism.
