It took a year and 4 adjustments to get my levels into what my Endo calls the therapeutic range.

A little over a year for me, several dose changes and even a change to my method of administration. It’s not an exact science but they’re getting better I think.

It took me 2 years to get my T down .  Progesterone didn’t do much so we added the Estradiol injections that’s when things started changing.  Now even with the low doses I’m on he is concerned about long term use. he wants me to get some form of bottom surgery.  At least an Orchidectomy.  I got a message from the Urologist’s assistant that they have the required letters and want me to schedule.  I have to finish some things on the boat before the surgery so we can live on it and there is a very low lifting restriction for a number of weeks afterwards so I have to allow a few days for that.

as to grand parents, on my fathers side, my grandfather died a year or so before I was born.  My grandmother died when I was 4 or 5 but we never saw her.  we lived in Ohio and she was in Massachusetts.  On my mother’s side, her mother died of cancer in the early 1930s.  It was her dad that lived with us and was the only one I knew.  I was nine when he died.

my sister and I didn’t get along growing up. She was 5 years older and felt I got everything when I came along.  Eventually that straightened out.  But she died of cancer 11 years ago.  So I’m the last one left.

Thought you would like this. My sister sent it to me. She lives in the Chicago area.

Ugh. Had to get up early to take my granddaughter to band practice and she doesnt like getting up.  We made it on time.

I didn’t sleep well last night.  Too much on my mind.  Our trip is possibly canceled, my doctor wants to set an appointment for my surgery.  The dog kept crawling on me.  Two of us plus a lab dont fit a full size bed very well.  If she would just lay there great.  I was chilly.  But she only lays still for so long before she wants attention.

i have a friend that is a Worship Leader at a UU church.  They have a similar welcoming sign at the door.  They welcome everyone regardless.

until later

Good morning all, It's been a long time (too long) since i last posted anything here.  a lot has happened over the last few months, I moved from a three bedroom house with a full basement (24+ years) to a one bedroom apartment. After getting my letters for the surgery I was told that it wouldn't be until January, however in June they called and said that they had an opening in August but didn't have a date. Of course I said lets do it, but when I talked to two of the doctors on the sixth of this month they moved it back to January. Then a couple weeks ago I got a call from the hospital to get a date in November. I am now scheduled for November 24th.

So it's been an affirming start to my day. I was coming out of 7/11 next to my clinic and saw the chiro from upstairs walking across the parking lot so waited for her so I could say hi. When she got closer she said "OMG that's you!  I was wondering who that hot chick was just standing there". She's always so complimentary so I just thought she was making nice but she said, "no really, I had no idea it was you until I got close".   Then, I'm sitting with the dog (who's looking cute) and my receptionist snapped a pic to show me how cute she was being and I didn't recognize who was sitting there for a second. Then I realized- wow, that's me now and boy have I changed."  I can truly see the woman in me showing now!

I love that too! I hope I NEVER get used to the happy feeling I get from just being one of the girls!

I actually reconnected with a family member last night. My uncle contacted me on Facebook. After I told him that his sister disowned me, he invited me to his wedding Anniversary. The big 50. Tragically, I can't go because I'm going to be recovering from surgery, but it was still a nice gesture. It's nice to know that there's only one member of my family who has a problem with be being trans.

I've been busy this week trying to get my name (and gender where needed) updated everywhere. So far I have 14 out of  23 done. I'm sure there's a few I forgot about. Thankfully I was able to do some of my credit cards over the phone without sending out any paperwork. My mortgage is definitely one I'm not looking forward to.

Fun fact. I wore a skirt to work today and didn't take it off right when I got home like I used to do. So, for 4 hours my wife got to see me "parading" around the house and even out talking to our neighbor in a black and white, tie-dye above the knee skirt. She didn't say anything about it. Not even a sideways look.

at least you are in a state that makes things easy for name changes, birth certificate, etc. but with the mortgage you may need to get a lawyer. you can't change anything on a mortgage unless you also change the deed. and that complicates things. you may not need to worry about the mortgage/deed because if you ever sell the house you will have your legal name change documents to use at that time. thank you. :)

hi,

Well all letters received, approved for surgery and have it scheduled for the end of September.  Not getting as much done as most of you but that’s ok with me.

Went out last night to a local historic gay bar "This Is It" for the first time in about 40 years.  I had a GREAT time.  Met a very cute boy who gave me his number.  Just wanted to share my good feelings here.

In 1912, a law passed in Nebraska where drivers in the country at night were required to stop every 150 yards, send up a skyrocket, and wait eight minutes for the road to clear before proceeding cautiously, all the while blowing their horn and shooting off flares.   Somali pirates have such a hatred for Western culture, that the British Navy uses music from Britney Spears to scare them off.   Cap’n Crunch’s full name is Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch.   The chicken and the ostrich are the closest living relatives of the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Yea she's nosy. She could probably tell you everything going on in the neighborhood.    Yea my grandma asked why I went through planned parent hood. I told her way to munch gatekeeping, and cost at a regular dr. I told her my labs are like 100 bucks, and she was like I pay around 300 after insurance.

Geez, under different circumstances that could have been disastrous. Life is so strange. What a blessing it turned out to be an opportunity to glean that understanding and acceptance from your grandmother.

There were two monarch butterfly chrysalises in the garden I'd been keeping an eye on because they were anchored on leafs that were liable to fall before the butterflies hatched. I looked out the window this morning literally just at the moment one of the leaves fell! I ran out to rescue the chrysalis and found the butterfly had hatched just before the leaf fell off and was crawling on the ground. Monarchs need to hang dry for a few hours before they can fly. This sweetie readily crawled onto my finger and let me take him to a bush to hang. The 2nd picture is the other monarch chrysalis I'm still keeping an eye on. It looks like a fancy piece of jewelry to me. The 3rd bonus picture is a cute atala butterfly enjoying some nectar breakfast.

Day one of road trip vacation has come to an end. We stayed at a place called the Weathervane Inn in Montague, Mi. I don’t know if they’re actually LGBT friendly but I was called miss by the desk clerk when we arrived. I got us a room with an oversized jacuzzi tub, fireplace and a king size bed. This place is pet friendly too so maybe next time we’ll bring our kids.    The drive here was uneventful. We did talk a lot but there was to real opening up about our obvious problems. We’re getting an early start today since I t’s another 3-4 hour drive to our next stop.

Human brains do have sexual dimorphism, that is detectable in an MRI, and that correlates to gender identity.  Whether the correlation is enough to be diagnostic is still an open question.  But it is definitely a thing.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7139786/

It’s been one year since I came out to my wife and finally began unwrapping the woman inside of me. My current tasks are to continue the ever-ending battle of changing my name on everything and enjoying the clarity and changes of HRT. I’d like to thank everyone here who helped and encouraged me this past year.

I learned some about Eastern vs. Western thought and "narrative", which includes the narrative of ourselves; typically, Western thought is linear, there is a beginning, middle and end whereas Hindu is cyclic. As Alan Watts explains, we often perceive our present as being a product or result of the past. Which also can place excessive value on memory itself, past events...because we are still perceiving them from the present anyway.  I think this can begin to shed some insight on the concept of "fate", that is typically preoccupied with past decisions and how they will translate into consequences, all the while overlooking the infinite and immediate reality of the present. Hinduism and Buddhist thinking shifts the focus to Now, the present, and the past flowing from it. The ship going through water produces a wake- the wake does not propel the ship forward.

There are certainly places and people in this country where life is more difficult for trans folks or others who do not "fit".  Unfortunately bullies are universally present and make life difficult.  Fortunately society has made progress.  Living with fear that requires the need for self defense is not a particularly strong indication of a  civilized world.  I don't want to use a knife and gun except as they are needed on the farm.   Hugs,   Charlize

I’ve been trying Tinder just to get my feet wet, but I have my first date lined up for tomorrow. I’m a bit nervous, but I’m trying to keep my expectations low and hoping to just have a decent time. I know Tinder has the reputation for being a pick up site, but I also heard that that’s not as much the case in Asia. Well, we’ll see!

Sorry to say, reading threads like this—the comments as much as the original post—make me happy to be living outside the States and scared to visit.
