Good morning All. Coffees on.

Good morning, everyone! The dogs have been walked, fed and I've read the paper while downing my first cup of coffee. A bit breezy here this morning, but I get to enjoy the sound of the wind chimes on our back porch.

Happy Friday to those who still are out there in the workforce. Be safe and enjoy the day.

Good morning

im enjoying my first cup of Joe as I type and read.

The Southern branch of the storms is due here later.  Could be rather nasty since we will have daytime warming before the cold front gets here with the foul weather.

@KymmieL you are a good woman going through all of this to help your family.  It’s never a right time to deal with these things.

heading to the Y to an aqua fitness class and senior strength and stretch. I finally got some water shoes for the pool class so I don’t destroy my feet on the bottom of the pool.  Since both classes have the same instructor I think she’ll be surprised to see me in the aqua class.  I went once and hadn’t been back.

enjoy your day and your coffee.

Finally made it to Michigan. After over an hour delay getting out of Laramie. then the wait in Denver. then the fiasco getting the Rental car.

Beautiful weather here, freezing rain. Slide into the parking lot at the hotel. We are in our room. In the AM comes the fun. Even before we even get to my brother in laws house. We need to get, pay for his ashes, then to the sheriffs office to get his personal belongings. Then the lawyer.

Have a good night. I am beat.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Yeah, this morning was the ick.

Hugs!

I've had my two cups of coffee. Feeling a bit more like myself today. I'm really glad it's Friday because this week has been a long one for me. I decided not to continue with the swim team due to anxieties...and I'm going to focus on getting stuff ready for my move next year. doing more research and stuff like that.

I also started watching anime again yesterday which I'm proud of myself for doing. It's something I haven't had the interest in doing for quite sometime and I've wanted to get back into it because I really love watching good anime. I've stated rewatching Code Geass which is one of my all time favorites...this time I'm watching the English dub which I think is pretty good so far. I'm up to episode 10. Will probably be throwing in some other anime in there as well since Code Geass can get dark in some spots...but I enjoy it because of it's storytelling and dynamic characters.

Iowa's been a bit cold these past few days. Lots of things were canceled yesterday due to snow. We got about 3 inches here where I live. I'm so over the cold winters. Very much looking forward to spring.

Well a fiasco today too. First get the ashes, then head to the sheriffs office. They send us to the ME's office. They tell us everything that came in with my BIL went with him to the crematorium. SO back there. OH, you didn't ask about any personal items. Then to the house. We had to break in. once inside. wasn't too bad. We did find what caused his death.  hundreds of Nasty daddys Alcoholic energy drinks. My mother in laws old room had at least 40 boxes of 40 cans each all empty. probably another case or 3 in the front room.

a couple flat screens, game consoles & games (already claimed by my youngest) records. Now figuring out how to get the stuff my wife wants home. Not really much.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Good morning, everyone. I'm into the morning routine - dogs walked and fed, first cup of coffee downed and about to grab the second. Warmer than usual weather has a black bear prowling our bird feeders so I've got to keep an eye on the dogs when they are out doing their business. Based on paw prints, it looks to be pretty big.

Keeping you in my thoughts @KymmieL.

Good morning

fortunately, no storms only rain.  Today is a nice day but cold.  Now the warm up begins again.

@KymmieL it sounds like you got a bit of a run around there but finally got to where you wanted to be.

Teen group meeting went well.  We had a new boy.  11, in middle school and gets bullied at school.  The school hasn’t done anything to quell the bully.  Parents, especially dad, seems to be supportive up to a point.  He did keep calling him by his deadname.  I didn’t hear much from mom.

today, I will be baking bread and maybe some cinnamon rolls.  Good day for that.

Oooh, I am so jealous. Our oven died at Thanksgiving. It is a combo wall oven, warming drawer, microwave unit in a custom cabinet. Of course, no one makes one like it anymore so we finally were able to order an oven/microwave combo and a warming drawer from a different manufacturer. Ordered the oven in December...just told it has been pushed back to an April 5 delivery timeframe. We have the warming drawer here.

Last night, the microwave component died - started sparking/arcing so I shut the power off to the whole unit at the breaker box.

Lynn loves to bake and cook so it's been a struggle - lots of salads and things we can make in a crock pot or pressure cooker or on the stove.  In a pinch, she takes everything to her mother's and uses her oven.

Enjoy the day!!

@April Marie I don’t bake bread in it but we have a Cousinart combo Unit bake, broil, toast and air fry.  Bread is hard enough to get right without using a little oven but we use that for nearly everything else.  I suppose I could use it one loaf at a time but today, I’m making two.  And I have a working oven.  Sorry, it’s taking you so long to get.  When we bought our condo there was no refrigerator and we needed a new washer and dryer.  We had to change brands and or models to get one when we needed it.

Good luck

Well my wife has been a PITA. Me and my son have gotten a clean out service that will be coming in tomorrow to help clear out the house. At first she refused wouldn't even listen to reason. Then after talking to my mom she relented. But she went back to do some more, Then again it will be cheaper if we already have stuff in bags.

I am wondering if my brother in law was either transgender or a CD. In one of the bedrooms. There is bras and panties, womans clothing. In the bathroom there is makeup and makeup remover wipes. There was a few pairs of heels in different parts of the house. My mother in law passed in 2004.

I guess we will never know.

Good morning everyone!!! I can't believe I slept until almost 4 this morning - a rarity for me anymore. No sign of the black bear this morning when I walked the dogs...but the deer clean out one of our bird feeders nightly. On the good side, I can sit here looking out my den window and it's like watching The Nature Channel. every day.

Enjoy the day, be safe and give yourself a hug. You deserve it.

Good morning! Was out and about yesterday with a walking group (so mostly strangers to me) and was suprised to hear 'she/her' being used about me an hour or two into the walk on a very light makeup day. Then a 'ma'am' at the food truck too, so apparently people who don't know me already are slotting me into the correct category. What's new to me is that this is happening without a mask being on and at least yesterday I didn't get the disheartening 'corrections' that have often followed such moments in the past.

Good morning, having my first cup of coffee... desperately needed. I'm so glad to put this past week behind me in the rear view mirror. It was just one of those weeks for me that seemed like they'd never end...and I'm glad it's over. I hope this week will be a better one. Gonna try to work on cleaning my apartment a little bit today to try to start my week off on a better foot.

Good morning

I've made my first cup, bold and black.

I am a little disappointed with my bread.  It really looked right when I put it in the oven. Nicely risen, rounded top.  But when I took it out the top had flattened.  Tastes fine just doesn’t look like I’d expected.  The raisin bread came out pretty Good!  We already ate ½ a loaf.

We’ve been catching up on Netflix.  Broadcast tv has been disappointing.  Seems like the have very few new episodes, everything is a repeat and March Madness hasn’t even begun.  We had started Stranger Things quite a while ago but stopped.  And we started Outlander, but have caught up until the last three seasons come out.  Apparently, another pay cable channel has the exclusive rights for the next three years.  I suppose we’ll have to find another one to enjoy.  We could do an Amazon Prime, anybody got a recommendation?

The bread sounds delicious! Since the microwave of our combo oven/microwave/warming drawer has now joined the oven in the land of dead appliances...and the new oven/microwave isn't due in until April, we ordered a microwave/convection oven/air fryer combo thru Amazon. So, we'll at least be able to do some light baking soon.

Amazon Prime suggestions? The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel. The Expanse (if you like science fiction). Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

A lot of things on there end up being paid for.  Which is ok I guess if you are really interested.

@Willow I sent you a message on the fix for your HVAC system in your Eddie. Hope it helps.   Wow, your boss must like you or something sending you to another store to screw theirs up. Have fun. I've had to do it before. Actually got sent to the Rawlins, WY store for a week to help out. Company footed the hotel bill.   I have got 2 weeks to get the wagon up and running. She is getting there. need to hook up the PCV valve, install the plug wires, Add coolant, and gas. Then install the new chrome valve covers that should be here on Friday.  Then cross my fingers that everything works right.   Hugs,   Kymmie

"Those are many of the same groups, along with Romany peoples, mentally challenged and physically deformed peoples whom the unhealthy politics targeted".   Looking from a distance that's what I am seeing. The former president's rallies looked eerily similar to the unhealthy politics Rallies, pre war.  It's the same principle - blame them they are different. Hate hate hate! seems to be the policy atm, and not just in the US.    MaybeRob

@Sally Stone  We do actually have some folks out in "The Jungle" doing some fighting in ways that do not leave physical injury to be cleaned up, but rather with good service to our communities and the ones who could be hurt badly in both our Trans and Cis friends.  I and another Staff member  here are members of community service organizations, which are doing effective work in legal assistance and community information and entertainment positions.  Participating at your local level in organizations that work with community leaders is a lot of fun and gives the bullies more opposition than they expect.  I have got three cities to cover this year for Pride Proclamation Presentations that let the citizens of those cities know that their elected leaders consider us to be real and HONORABLE members of the community (not to mention that we VOTE as well.).  There is much we can do that is low stress and just some handshaking and being present to remind leaders of our humanity is often successful.
    • Carolyn Marie
I agree wholeheartedly with what you say, @Sally Stone.  Even regarding bullies, I have my own similar experience.  In 9th grade I was in Agriculture Class, and a strong, tall bully starting throwing dirt clods at me.  No reason, I was just a small, weak, easy target.  One day I had had enough, and I walked up to him and told him to stop.  He grabbed my shirt and literally lifted me off the ground.  I didn't flinch, didn't back down, looked him in the eye and told him off in colorful language.  I didn't pop him, but I think he knew I would.  He never bothered me again.   Anyway, concerning our trans troubles, the problem isn't just bullies, although that's a big part of it.  it's also the whole political climate, with the far right "base," conspiracy theorists, bloggers, pundits and politicians needing reasons for why things aren't like the mythical "good old days," which they long for.  We are different, easily identifiable (not in just in terms of physical presence, but b/c we also have symbols), and small in numbers.  We, along with Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, even Blacks, are easily "othered."   Those are many of the same groups, along with Gypsies, mentally challenged and physically deformed peoples whom the Nazis targeted.  Things won't turn out the same - America is not the same culture, and the players are not the murderous thugs and fascists of the 1930's & 1940's; but there are similar elements.   That is why we have to fight like hell politically and in the courts to keep the bullies at bay.  We have an uphill climb, but we will succeed in the long run.  I have to believe that.   Sorry for the long rant.   Carolyn Marie

Yeah, they are bewildered by us. Strange also how they want to tell us what gender we are. "Excuse me, I'm half and half, I think I get to decide?"

Me neither. No more punching walls for me. I default to tears instead. I always cried a lot, but I often had to go through anger to get there. Now it’s the other way round. I’m still angry — I’m absolutely furious at conservative society and how it held us all back and is still trying to do so — but I don’t really feel it till I’ve felt the sadness. I think the anger is useful though. I don’t let it own me like I used to, but I’m not just going to give the bigots a free pass. I think straight society deserves a dose of righteous trans anger.
    • Sally Stone
I do my best to ignore the rhetoric, hate, and marginalization directed towards us, but there are days when I simply want to crawl into a hole to avoid it all.  To date, I haven't actually descended into a hole and instead, I find myself wondering why we have such a big target on our backs.  It's not like we are bad people.  In fact, most of us just want to go through life being who we want to be, living in the skin that makes us most comfortable.     Maybe it's an epiphany of sorts, maybe I've just climbed out from under my proverbial rock, but it's obvious we are a big target because bullies just love the ones who don't fight back.  They feel empowered when they can direct their vitriol at someone knowing that someone won't fight back.  I remember back when I was in junior high.  I was bullied terribly by a pair of classmates for nearly two years.  They both identified me as an easy target because I wouldn't stand up for myself.  I chose to be nonconfrontational.  But two-years is a long time to be bullied and finally, when I couldn't take it any more, I beat the snot out of one of those two bullies.  I only stood up to one of them but they both got my message and neither ever bothered me again.  It just goes to show that bullies are generally nothing more than blowhards and when they realize you are willing to stand up to them, they back down, or they go find someone weaker to prey on.   What we are dealing with these days is no different.  Our desire to be left alone, to live quietly without having to be confrontational, unfortunately, has sent the wrong message and made us easy targets.  Okay, I am in no way advocating violence here.  I'm not saying the way to take back our lives we have to punch our detractors in the nose.  What I am saying however, is we need a stronger collective voice.  A voice that delivers the message: "Don't f*** with us.  It's all a matter of having a collective voice that drowns out the bullies.    For most of us, I know our trans situation, our intense desire to fly under the radar, often prevents us from speaking out.  Unfortunately, this is not "the way."  I'm pretty certain that if we want the rhetoric, the hate, and the marginalization to stop, we have to be the ones to step up and make it stop.  Waiting for anyone else to do it for us, is going to a very long wait.

Hi   so my hours for tomorrow were changed, I start two hours earlier now, at 10 instead of noon, and at a different store.  It’s just a mile or two further away.  Off Friday, the. I work Saturday and Sunday.   @KymmieL I was wondering if you could recommend a good Ford Eddie Bauer Explorer gurl in Myrtle Beach.  I need to open up the heater AC mixer it seems the mixer flap isn’t moving.  Also, the driver side sunroof drain hose is disconnected or rotted.  I need to get into that too.  What do you think 🤔?  Finally, I got some sanding and painting to get done on the roof.  And all to be done with out a garage or a compressor.   let’s see a few spray cans of paint. Some sandpaper A couple feet of 3/8 id hose, and maybe some vacuum hose should handle the supplies.  So, what do you think?  Got any recommendations?  lol 😝    I put a new battery in it a couple weeks ago.  Amazing what all that fixed.  Biggest issue will be replacing the control switches on the steering wheel.  There is a risk of tripping the air bag if I mess up.  Once I’ve done all this it will be like a 20 year old car with 172,000 miles again.   time for bed    Willow
