Welcome @aspistasia! You've found a great place to jump into the conversation.

Good morning, everyone!!! A late start for me today and just finishing my first cup of coffee. I feel like I've wasted half the day!! 🙂

Be safe and enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!!

I guess I found out I'm getting older woke up with hip pain. I thought I was too young for it but I guess more will come. Good thing is I didn't wake up once due to Spiro with the usual night bathroom trips.

@Ashley0616 welcome to the club. Sometimes I wake up to the sound of rice krispies, snap, crackle and pop. I still haven't gotten out of the bedroom.

Well everyone is home today. Wife and youngest, it is a staff development day for the school so they took it off. Still up at 6:30-7 Oreo starts to get whiny around then. So instead of a mess I get up. getting to be normal anymore.

Got a request for a phone interview from a self storage co. Just waiting to see when they want to.

Gotta get coffee started. Then sometime with in the next couple hours get some warmer clothes on to get the trash out. Have the middle son and his boys coming later today. tomorrow is our annual downtown trick or treating. Not sure if the DIL will be coming.

Hugs everyone.

I went to a Trans party / protest against an anti-trans speaker at Harvard, an ex-athlete, not an ex-bigot. A student at the party confronted me for taking pictures—thought I may be Fox News, but I flunked her test. We had a good laugh about it. Strong trans groups at Harvard: good to know. I live two blocks away.

Good morning/afternoon everyone,

My coffee pot has been emptied, rinsed out and ready for tomorrow. It’s TGIF and the start of the weekend for us. The weather person said today was the last day for shorts and tee shirts. Winter weather arrives tomorrow, and the little trick or treaters will be wearing coats over their costumes.

Hugs,

Its more like midnight than morning...and somehow I'm still awake.  Such a weird, weird day.  I met GF's ex.  Not just one of the many exes, THE EX.  She's pretty.  And wealthy.  Showed up at our county airfield in her own plane.  I'm thinking to myself....GF picked me?  Me???  I'm feeling a bit jealous and insecure.  Thankful for her, though, because this lady rescued and raised one of my partners years ago.  Lots of mysteries around that.

So, sitting here with a cup of hot chocolate.  Much sweeter than coffee.  Waiting for my brain to stop so I can curl up.

Good morning everyone!! Two cups of coffee into the day already and starting to feel like my brain is working.

My wife and I took a short overnight trip and visited Winterthur in Delaware to see the Anne Lowe dress exhibition. If you haven't heard of her, she was the first African American designer to gain notoriety in the US. Her story is amazing and skills legendary. Granddaughter of a slave seamstress, she learned to sew from her mother and grandmother, designing dresses for social register women and debutantes. Most famously, she designed and made Jaqueline Bouvier's wedding dress when she married John Kennedy in 1953. In the thousands of dresses she created, she took pride in never making the same gown twice.

There are several stories about her life available but I found the historical novel "By Her Own Design: A Novel of Anne Lowe, Fashion Designer to the Social Register" utterly fascinating. Had she been born in later times, her designs would have competed with the great houses of fashion.

We're going to have one last gasp of warmer weather today so I'll be working outside. I'm already dreaming of next Spring and Summer.

Be safe and remember to look for the goodness in this beautiful day we've been given!

Darn, they need me to 'apply' for a position at Torrid, not volunteer.

Also would need to be able to stand and walk around (I'm in a wheelchair!).

I'll just hang out every weekend like I am doing. 😘

Good afternoon

To all you early birds, I also was up.  My alarm went off at 2:30 AM.  Yes I had my breakfast cup.  Left at 3:30 to get to my new store by 4.

First day to open that store.  Yes, it’s a busier store but bigger and newer and in a much better area.  I also learned that the place needs lots of changes, and training.  I think the team being put together can whip it into shape in short order.  Right now no one does any paperwork, they aren’t taught very basic things that they should have been taught in the first couple of days on the job.

you can’t blame the workers for what they weren’t taught.  That will be changing and soon.

I like working early, I get my afternoons off!

hugs

Its raining today.  A lot.  Cold, wet, miserable....so I'm hiding inside.  Only thing worse is the white stuff, and I'm guessing we'll have that in another month.  🙄  And for some reason, when its miserable outside it makes the kids act half-feral indoors.  Especially GF's bunch.  Some days I question why she had to have 5 little clones... IDK what part of them came from their father, but I have yet to see it.  Days like today make me think I'm better off as a step-parent than a biological one....

Good morning, everyone!! Yesterday was warm and partly sunny here. I was able to get out and pick up leaves and cut the grass one last time this year. Today and the coming week will be much cooler with some rain thrown in. Ugh.

Dogs have been walked and fed and are back in bed. I'm here catching up and drinking coffee. 🙂

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning/afternoon everyone,

I spent yesterday evaluating a local emergency response training program, presentation and practical evaluations. It was a great presentation I’m sure the next generation of first responders will benefit from this program. I also felt comfortable with how I was treated and received as I presented in my androgynous presentation.

Hugs,

I only wished I had the energy, or time, or courage enough to really dress up for it. I planned a style, but didn't have a chance to shop for it. It was this costume:  Halloween Costume. Miss Sherlockia Holmes — Wig, bowler hat, pipe,  magnifying glass, Tweed or houndstooth Cape, magnifying glass, Meershaum pipe, Silk scarf, wire-rimmed glasses, lipstick and rouge applied by Vicky, tweed skirt, black tights. Bow tie. Silk Vest.

Oh well, another time.

Hi y’all

another sunny warm day here.  Just the reason why I moved here.  I love the fall and it can be extended here.  Still 70s and 80s with a few 60s thrown in for good measure.

Our microwave oven broke a while ago, well last May to be more precise.  I was able to get it working again but I knew it would last.  Well, we got 5 more months out of it and it failed again.  I tried again to resurrect it but no dice this time.  In the mean time our combination toaster oven/air fryer/broiler/ you get the point was causing problems.   So, we went about looking for a microwave-multi oven.  Prices range wildly.  But we found a Panasonic countertop version the was a good size and in theory would do all we wanted.  We will see if it really does as time goes on.

I had a number of people at church today comment about my clothes.  I was wearing my kilts.  After all it was reformation Sunday.  I was also congratulated by those that knew about being nominated to be and elder.

enjoy your day, whether you are working or resting, caught in the early snow or having one more beautiful fall day.  They all have their moments.

You forgot rolls and rolls of tinfoil, so you can keep making those hats...😉   The following words are not mine, but after reading them elsewhere earlier I thought that they were too good not to share:   "The Machiavellian brilliance of Trump's approach is that he never has to follow through on promises, he just needs to continue to make the poor and vulnerable believe he is there fighting for them. As the saying goes, it is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled."

There are definitely things that could be done to make the site persist, but what if the data that exists? What of the site that could bring its owner up against the law? We all share in responsibility for the content posted, but are there plans?

Every Trans legislator / official   I know of that was up for re-election won there seats back a few with the benefit of "incumbent" listed on the ballot.  Once in office we seem to do a pretty decent job compared to Cis/Het  I do tend to side with those I know today saying Trans were no where near a part of their voting decisions.  Who knows, maybe we have overblown that part of the situation, but for us it was close and personal and we ran into too may trees to see the forest.

It has and learned well from my step father. They had bids way too high from other guys wanting to do other work too not needed. Plus I have repaired their shotty work

Well, I'm relieved to not have an upcoming Harris presidency.  And I'm truly surprised that attempts to manipulate the election didn't succeed.   But...that doesn't go so far as to be delighted in a Trump presidency.  And my worries certainly aren't over, they've just changed form. Now I get to worry about the militant leftists causing havoc like back in 2020.  Maybe another pLandemic, or economic collapse.  I still feel like 2025 is going to be pretty dang rough.    Whether you love the outcome of this election, loathe it, or feel indifferent... get ready.  Have some money saved.  Extra fuel, food, water, and medicine at home.  Power generation equipment, communication equipment, and defense equipment if you feel the need (I certainly do).

That video was so hard to watch.  They truly treated like an animal ... and even animals shouldn't be treated that way. Yes, I hope there was punishment for the jail guards.

Me too, @Carolyn Marie.  But I also condemn the school itself for lack of initial action.  It should never be the parents responsibility.  How many go unreported?

After 1.5 years on estradiol and 6 mo on progesterone I am a full shaped A-cup (getting fairly close to B-cup I believe).  I am happy with what I have.  I don't plan on breast implants and just use fashion and the 'laws of physics' to accentuate what I do have.  But it is truly personal preference and to-each-her-own.

You probably haven’t heard of the xylo pronouns because I found a set (xylo/xylo) & modified it a little to fit myself :) I usually think of them replacing more common pronouns. Xylo would replace ‘he’ or ‘she’, phone would replace ‘him’ or ‘her’, xylo’s to ‘his’, and xylophoneself to ‘himself’. For example, some sentences using those would sound like this: “Do you know phone? Xylo shares a class with me. Xylo talks about xylophoneself a lot, but it’s fun to listen to phone! Xylo’s willing to listen if someone asks phone to. Xylo’s also very dedicated to xylo’s work.” Thank you for asking!   I have heard of POTS! My aunt has it and my mom has mentioned it. I’m not sure if I’ve experienced many symptoms other than dizziness, though- and I’ve never fully passed out. I still need to do some research.   I know a little piano, drumset, marimba (which is like a wooden xylophone), and guitar, but I’m not very good or experienced at any of those. In band, though, I’ve played trumpet for 5 or so years now! I love to play it. My band director is also going to let me borrow the school-owned flugelhorn to learn it pretty soon! It’s like a mix between a French horn and trumpet, but all of the finger combinations to play the notes are the same as trumpet. It’s also in the key of B flat, just like how trumpet is.   In culinary class, we cook and bake a lot of things… I can’t quite remember any particular thing that I enjoyed the most, but learning to temper chocolate was fun! We also recently made spooky desserts, and my group got a pumpkin sheet cake. Since it wasn’t for our school-owned restaurant and just for fun, we got to get creative. I had a fun time decorating it. Thanks for asking!
