That's right my friends, she took such good care of me for over 6 years, and now she is retiring from performing electrolysis at the end of the month, she is a trusted friend, someone I've gotten to know real good over the years. Yesterday was my last facial treatment from her, it was basically a touch up appointment and a chance to bring her a small gift and hand written card expressing my appreciation. She was always there for me, we kept a regular schedule in the early days of my treatments, so many trips over the years, I had a routine. It's been a long hard climb to facial smoothness. I did however get a referral to her good friend, should I ever need any more touch up work. So happy for my friend, she deserves her retirement, I am blessed to know her, and so grateful to be done with her hot needle ! Just wanted to post this here, because it feels good to write these words. Bless you nice lady, bless you.

Cheers

We do grow close to these people, don't we Cyndee? My electrologist, hair dresser, even my therapist albeit at a professional level. I'm always grateful for the caring people that work in these jobs. I hope your friend has a wonderful retirement!

I hope she has a wonderful retirement too! It is always a little sad at this point. It's always nice when they are part of the community so we don't lose touch.

So nice!  I hope she is able to enjoy retirement for a long time!

My electrologist (3+ years) has also become a friend.  I look forward to seeing her and the conversations we have.

There are definitely pros and cons, but my particular conformity is neither a blessing or curse, it's just me. Not my fault people in society have low tolerance for my existence. I feel I'm cursed with allergies, and a fate to be stuck on a planet full of overly big headed animals that are destructive, complain a lot, and are fickle.

I think it's a bit of both, actually. The blessing part comes from being one's self, being given greater insight into how different people think and see themselves as well as having a greater understanding of who we are as individuals. The curse part, well, it comes from being marginalized and the frustrations associated with a general lack of acceptance by society at large.   It's funny @Heather Shay. This thread brought an old Kris Kristofferson song to mind. It's called "The Pilgrim: CHapter 33." There's a line in it that says: "...Never knowing if believing is a blessing or a curse, or if the goin' up is worth the coming down."  For some reason, not sure why, this seems apt with regard to your question. Mostly, I believe the going up (transition) is more than worth the coming down (prejudice, fear, hate, etc) that we all experience.

Currently the waters are very calm.

Do you think being different from society's norms in regard to gender or sexual orientation is a blessing or a curse?

I have been in Colorado several times and one of the beautiful sights is the Rocky Mountains which have rocks.Sadly, they have an elected rep who has the same intelligence as the rocks, but is nowhere near as nice to be around.  Good for AOC.
    • Carolyn Marie
Thanks, @Jamey.    Yes, AOC doesn't put up with any b.s.  Boebert and her ilk enjoy stoking the flames while pointing their fingers everywhere else.   Carolyn Marie

I just just got an appointment with Dr. Schechter, May 3rd, consultation for zero depth vaginoplasty. Hoping I'm not pushing the timeline too much, but the genital dysphoria is getting a bit too much to deal with.

Sounds like you had a "perfect" plan, and it sounds like a definite success. Well done.

@VickySGV It might be difficult for some people to understand, but I think it is plausible. For example, most school shooters were part of their school's community. Some folks who shoot up a church are members of the congregation. And then there's family violence... being part of a group doesn't preclude violence within that group.  But that's not going to prevent people from making a politically easy explanation.
