Okie Dokie!

Number 10...Electrolysis!

Now we're working on the area around the mouth....Do you realize how CLOSE hairs grow to your mouth????

DANG!!!!

I take Advil before the session!

I drink lots of water before the session because you need to be hydrated to make the process work correctly!

She rubs a Lidocaine solution on the areas that she will be working on to help numb it...

She puts a cloth across my eyes because she has a bright light right down over my face....

The cloth was soaked because I had lots of tears coming out !

She rests her hand on my my mouth and then talks to me and asks questions that I can't answer.....lol....So I just grunt!

It's going very well and I am truly happy with the progress....2 hours yesterday!

I asked to use her bathroom and she said to be careful...two men (husband & son) had just used it!

Girls stick together...lol

And she calls me Donna Jean!

Oh my!

Saturday's electrolysis.....

OUCH!

Mostly upper lip.

But, when I told her that I have vacation coming up in a couple of weeks she proposed that I schedule 8-9 hours over the period of 3 days (3 hours a day or so) and get a whole bunch done !

I've gotta think about that!

And I'll tell you what....Doing the upper lip is NO fun! But, it's mostly cleared now...WHEW!

So, maybe a lot this month....I'll let everyone know what I do about that!

HUGGS!

I finished my eighth laser session and she said from now on they are just maintenance, i still have lots of white hairs so i set up an appointment and consult to start electro next week, i have a high pain threshold and it couldn't be too much more painful than the laser.

Hi Paula,

from my experiences, electro is much more painful than laser, but I am a wuss  I tried both on my face, first laser, than electro and I decided to stay with the laser, but everyone is different.

Wish you luck and hope it is not too painful

I'm a complete and utter baby when it comes to pain. How much does electrolysis hurt? Is it about the same as shaving dry with no shaving cream or is it worse?

I found a place in Old Town Alexandria about 30 minutes away from me that has a sliding scale for the cost.

15 minutes is $47

30 minutes is $76

45 minutes is $94

60 minutes is $114

Is that about on par with typical costs?

How much does it hurt? OMG that is a hard concept to explain....

Number one...the current can be turned up and down and the pain with it...But remember...lower the current and it will take twice as long.

I have her crank up the current and just get it done! I take some Advil before I go in.

Inserting the little needle into the hair follicle is painless...The current is then applied..about 8 seconds per hair...it kinda stings a bit...but goes right away.

My face is a little red where she worked for the rest of the day then it clears up.

I've had 12 2 hour sessions so far..and I'm taking a break for a few weeks!

My electrologist's rates are:

20 minutes $25

30 minutes $30

40 minutes $35

50 minutes $40

60 minutes $45

90 minutes $60

And 2 hours $70

Not bad, eh?

My girl's prices are so good because she is in the middle of Amish country and don't want to scare off clients. She is also a Registered Nurse!

I wish I could give you a better understanding of how it feels...kinda like a pinch...

I wouldn't equate it with dry shaving...different from that...

Good Luck, Honey!

Wow thats a cheap rate. :( everything in the DC metro area is super expensive.

Is anyone else from the Virginia area by any chance that knows of a good place?

I just had my 1st appointment and it went quite well. She said I should do laser on my upper lip because the hairs are dark enough so I am going down the street to check into it later today. things seem to be going well.

OMG! I can really relate to this one Donna Jean. I just finished a 2 hour electrolysis session that included getting rid of the regrowth I had on my upper lip from my first round of electrolysis with another technician, but this time I had an idea from what I learned from doing the most painful area of your face. At my asking, my technician made arrangements with the dentist that is just down the hall from her office and I went into him about 15 minutes before my session and got 4 shots of Novocaine in my upper lip. WOW! What a difference this time. If it wasn't for her stretching my skin in this area to make sure she had gotten all the hair, I could have slept through this area. By far and away the best $50.00 I ever spent. :)

OK, gang!

I had to stop for a while in late summer to save money for the Memphis trip....

But now that I'm back and in the groove.....

My next appointment is Oct 10th. on a Saturday morning (8:30)

I'll be starting out with 3 hours at a time...OMG!

JustCassie's post just reminded me to put this up...I'll be posting more as they get zapped out!

Well, week 4 and nothing really to report...still doing 1 1/2 hours and 45 minutes per side of face.

But, we ARE making progress and I'm very happy about what is getting done!

I do really hate not being able to shave from Wednesday 'til Saturday afternoon..Dang!

Don't feel very feminine then....

And I won't be able to go for the next two weeks as she has other obligations....

But the BEST part of today's session was ...while working on me she got kinda quiet...then she asked.."May I ask you a question?" She asked me about being Transgendered ...EVERYTHING about it and we talked and talked....

I came out to her on the second visit and last week we just chit-chatted ...But, today...OMG!

She asked me if I was gonna have the surgery and I told her that I planed to do that...

Then she asked me if I would need genital electrolysis......OMG....OMG....OMG..:blink:

Well, anyway, it was a fun time and more hairs are permanently gone...WOO HOO!!!

I'll let you know what happens next time...

Well from a practical standpoint, I think you do so you don't have hairs inside the um .... but wow painful prospect.

I know exactly how you feel. Everyday I look in the mirror and a little more hair is gone and I smile a little inside.

Thanks for the update, Donna Jean –

I’ve had about 6 hours and have a noticeable difference in the sides of my face and my eyebrows.

I’ve told my electro to “go slowly” and she’s been great!

BTW, I’ve talked to her about everything, too, but she won’t do genital 

Glad things are going well!!

Hugs! - Kayleigh

:o omg neither would I. Maybe I'll just go with laser and get it done in a few minutes a few times and not have to be poked and prodded there.

Well DJ i have had 9 laser sessions and the dark hairs for the most part are gone, in July i started electrolysis for the white hairs, i have been real aggressive having 30 minute sessions on my lunch hours and an hour on Saturdays, so far 19 hours and counting, other than my lip area, i am saving that for last, my face has been cleared and my neck will be in the next week, she spends time each session re-clearing anything she sees.

By November i should only need cleanups once a week so i have only Saturday sessions in November and December.

Well, I've been using this thread that I started to keep everyone up to date on my progress and for discussion of electrolysis..

I'm starting back up again tomorrow after a hiatus (saved money for the Memphis trip) and it's time to get back on the table..

So, tomorrow I'll leave the house at 7:30 and drive an hour north for my 8:30 appointment!

I'll be getting for 3 hours at a time for the next 5-6 weeks.....I miss Ann Marie, my electrologist...we've become friends!

I'll take her a fist full of flowers from my yard in the morning!

Oh, and I didn't shave since yesterday morning and I don't feel very feminine at the moment...kinda like the bearded lady at the circus...DANG!

I HATE that part!

So, up early and off for more zaps!

Huggs....

OMG!

I hate to post under my own post (bad mojo)....

But I went for another session yesterday at 8:30am....

Much more of the same except this time we went back up under the nose..YIKES! That hurts like H E double hockey sticks! DANG!

Were there any tears?

you had better believe it, Cupcake!

It was a 3 hour session and she uses a timer and we take breaks...we both need it!

So I get the whole 3 hours of her time even though I'm there usually 4 hours...

Oh, and for those of you who are curious...

It's $45 an hour..

And only $105 for 3 hours!

Great rates!

More later!

HUGGS!

@Red_Lauren.For me, I know that, in my younger years, such dreams were more common. I don't know that I've had any in the year since I started on E, but I rarely remember dreams anymore. What I do remember, and your post actually seems to have made me realize, is that on the rare occasions in the maybe 6-8 years prior to E, the dreams were more of a gay (m-m) theme. Interesting, since I've considered myself to be lesbian for quite a while now.

@VidanjaliWhen it comes to employment, follow your inner guidance. You know when it is is time to move on and it can be such a rewarding time when choose to move on.   I would get some legal advice about your grievances and how to document them. The HR department is there to protect the organization more so than the employee. A sympathetic HR employee may support you but HR is NOT your advocate. Whether you intend it or not, leaving an organization may burn bridges. That is part of life. You have succeeded in your employment because of your efforts and what you bring much more so than anything the employer provides. When it comes to jobs, the only thing I regret was not leaving as soon as I knew it was time.

@VidanjaliI'm not certain what changed from what I was originally told. My new employer is contracted to providing security services for a wide range of companies. My first few days last week were with the HR manager at the local branch office. She originally said she wasn't sure if I could have Hannah on my badge. She subsequently informed me that I could. When I got my ID photo taken yesterday on site, I was told I had to wait until legal name change. I don't know if it's an internal company about face, a policy of the host company, or what. I am going to try to find out what.

Way to go, @Vidanjali. I support your choice. When I quit my last full-time job long ago, it was very scary. But looking back, it was the best thing I ever did. I stood up for myself and left what people said was a secure job. It also was toxic and abusive (not for your reasons) and it took the right few friends to support my change and to work towards a creative direction for my life. I know you're a fine writer and we have a lot of support here on TgP. Good luck. Believe in yourself. God's speed. —  Davie

Coming out is a cathartic experience. For me, it really reduced a lot of built-up stress and worry. May you find clarity in expressing all the things you wish to say. This is an important milestone, but it's also a point that you are soon past, and then other important things will be there for the two of you to work on, hopefully together.   As @Susan R mentioned, may you have a distraction-free evening to begin this new chapter in your lives.   Hugs and reassurance,   Astrid

Update to everyone:    I'll be coming out to my husband once he gets home from work. I cant hide from him anymore, i feel too guilty. I've had the worst anxiety I've ever felt today. I keep crying and shaking and it just feels awful. I've never felt more afraid in my life. Wish me luck.

It is sad to hear of  Alan Price's death. His death made me think about one of my best friends from college who has also passed. She was a huge fan of Yes and Rick Wakeman. I'm listening to a few song with my happiest memories, I miss her.

I don't feel like I'm watching, more getting carried away by the tide that is life. Wish I could enjoy it more. Sadly there was never a guarantee things would work out nicely.

Can you do some sort of harm reduction if you bind for years , the reason am I asking i am unsure if i can have Surgery due to the fact ill not  get approved for it?
    • Kelly2509
@WillbeAlice that's great news!  Glad it has been going well!  Sounds like they did a good job of helping you come up with a plan of attack as well and that's nice to hear!  Kudos!   I've been back to the office a few times and generally everyone has been fine over the last month.  Some people have a hard time remembering my correct name (which is now legal BTW) and once in a while I'll get misgendered but they have been honest mistakes so I haven't pushed back too hard.  There are still the couple people who seem to really avoid me now, but honestly that's OK.

Thanks to Jeanette West's Electrolysis Report.  I just started reading through it and I'm learning a lot.  Almost even feeling a lot.  The mind is a terrible thing : )

Hi Everyone, I apologize if I'm repeating a topic.  I will work my way through the topic posts.  But I was wondering if anyone has advice on Pre op electrolysis for vaginoplasty?  Pain management ?  Would it be less painful after an orchiectomy ?  How many sessions did it take ?  I heard about numbing cream.  And it could take a year to be ready for surgery ?  Thank you, Vini
