Chronic UTI post op

Hello all!

 

My partner is a trans woman, had her SRS in June of 2008 through Dr. P. Brassard. Since then, she has been plagued with chronic UTI's and prostate infections. This has, obviously, negatively impacted her quality of life. We have been trying to find any other cases with post operative trans women experiencing something similar, along with hopefully what may have helped them. To be clear, the usual advice of  "drink more water, make sure to follow good hygiene, drink cranberry juice" isn't very helpful at this point. We are looking for possible causes for the chronic UTI's and perhaps recommended Urology doctors.

Ok, I am post op from Dr. Bowers. and I pick up the occasional UTI's and more frequently yeast infections.  I am diabetic which has a bearing on the yeast infections.  The yeast is not directly relatable to my GCS or my surgeon, diabetics get those damn things.  One thing is to see what happens if you leave Dr. Brassard out of the picture and find out where it goes.  An OB/GYN or a urologist can run tests to find out specifically what organism is causing the problem.  Broad spectrum antibiotics may be missing one that needs a specific medication. I would be concerned that she has a chronic kidney problem that has nothing to do with the GCS.  Be sure she is treated like a woman, and not a Trans woman.  "Trans" may be masking the real issue.
