In California, celebrating a new name and affirming authentic identity for transgender Episcopalians

This is from the National News Service of The Episcopal Church about a Renaming Service I attended last Friday.  I am cited as being younger than my real age in it, but the reporter beautifully captured my feelings and sentiments that I shared during a Conversation with the group of people who had attended the woman's renaming. There are churches that support us and have room for us.

That is a wonderful article Vicky.  I can see why you need some tissues.  It is lovely as we read about some new religious pushback to also see such a positive affirmation!

Wonderful article, Vicky.  Thanks so much for sharing it.  The author is clearly a sensitive soul with a warm heart and a gift for words.

 

Although I am not religious, it is a comfort to know that my own Jewish religion feels the same as yours does, and welcomes me.  If ever I wanted to have a similar ceremony, I've already been told that I would be welcome to do so.
