Intersex and the Church

I came across a video that would be worth your time to watch. It is about an hour long, but it explains a lot about what the bible and bible history calls Eunuch. I think it pertains to most transgender as well as Intersex people. This is not something you will likely hear in your local church.

Here is the link:

@Confused1 Thank you for sharing this, I think it is a really solid look at gender, taking its meaning from the Bible passages it examines and acknowledging the historical setting and cultures around them rather than forcing a modern agenda into it. The comment about frogs nearly made me spit out my tea. ?

Thanks, DeeDee. I watched this late last night and knew I had to share it. So many of us get beat up with modern translations by people that don't dig in and actually search for the truth. Because of my beliefs, I would be considered a fundamentalist by many, but I believe that we need to follow the commandments that Jesus gave us and they command us to love. Many church people talk love, but when it comes to our group it means something different. And yet if you look, we are right there in the Book that they quote from!

Hugs,

Mike

This was very interesting, I did like her options for "The First Couple" of mankind, that they could have been the demo prototype of developing humans fits well with anthropological and archaeological  information that I have studied over my years.  I for one see the arguments surrounding eunuchs as off the tracks and into the woods where it gets turned around to nobody's real enlightenment.  Another red herring to me is the "fall from grace" reasoning for things not stacking up properly with the simplistic view of binary sex in most peoples minds.  I know that FFG is a church doctrine, but it is a relatively recent invention from around the 1200's.  My feeling is that Creation is still Creating in joyful procession into a future we should embrace and ready ourselves for.

( I am an Episcopalian who is very active in my branch of Christian belief.)   The thing about frogs WAS funny!!

Oh thank you, thank you!! This was an absolutely perfect inclusion to my email response to my ex g/f who questioned whether I was making the wrong decision with full transition. It has some very interesting perspectives and scriptures to back them up on the trans/intersex subject.

One thing I have always thought and believed was backed up in the video by Dr. Megan DeFranza. I agree with what she clarified in the meaning in the scripture in Genesis where it says...man was was created in God’s image. I never thought it meant “physical” image since we don’t see God in a physical form here on Earth. I always believed it was referring to the “essence” of God (His character and virtue) which to me seems much more accurate. She calls it “the soul of God“ and perhaps in her further clarification is adding to that the “spirit of God” within that Soul definition. That scripture is clearly NOT referring to any physical earthly characteristics we see in the description of Adam or Eve in the garden.

Also, the testimony of Liann Simon is incredible and very similar to a few bio I’ve read here and other places. I would recommend this video to anyone with an open mind and heart.

Thanks again @Confused1 as this is a great resource to go back to again and again.

My Best,

Susan R?

Hi Susan,

I took this video to my Pastor today and he was deeply touched by it to the point of tears. He told me he will never look at Eunuchs the same way again! He actually asked me to start showing it individually to anyone I wanted to in our congregation. It also opened up another door which I won't talk about here, but someone close to you will get in an email about it?

Hugs,

Mike

@Confused1 I sent this video to my ex g/f last evening with my email response. I didn't really need to prove anything to her but she is “trying hard” to come to terms with my changes so I decided to be nice about the email she sent me last month. I hope this video and my response will give her a bit more insight and understanding.

Thanks for this link.  I finally got around to watching it.

I will admit that I have a very complicated relationship with the Christian Church.

Susan, I pray this video can open a door. You have a gentle, loving heart and I hope the truth can win out.

Jandi, it is understandable you have a complicated relationship with the Christian Church, because a great many of them don't show the love of Jesus they claim to have. I feel like I won the lottery because of what I have been able to do with my Pastor. I know most people don't experience this. I think every church in the country and even the world should be playing a video like this for their congregation.

Hugs,

Mike

It doesn't just seem that it is, it actually is. aging trans people are left out of nearly 90% of all the help said to be available to transgender people.   Here in Texas, there are not many, if any actually created for aging transgender people. Planned Parenthood pretty much has only been active for trans youth, primarily, as of late. I can't even find legal help for discrimination cases that would help by allowing me to show that it is trans care related. By the way, I don't qualify for medicare as I am turning 55 this year. I also can't get Medicaid either.    Trans youths are not the only ones needing help. Aging trans need just as much help, BUT, are pushed aside as though we as older transgender people, do not matter. I agree the youth are our future, but until the youth decides to listen to what is being taught to them instead of thinking they know everything, the youth of the nation will be our demise.

Wednesday CNA was rather agreeable today (unusual for her). She basically just stated, "you really need to read your bible." I answered, "yes thank you, I do!"   She wanted to tighten my bra bands and I told her I don't like them too tight.  She said, "oh yeah, yours are just fat and not milk ducts so they aren't heavy."   That started into a conversation about how a bra works, and that the band/gore support the majority of the weight. The bands just helps keep things aligned.    Also, my mammograms say, "scattered fibroglandular tissue" just like a third of women out there. They most definitely have milk glands.

This tread is based on the titling of a bill.  That is what the judges ruling spoke to.  Please keep on topic.  If one wishes to write about rest room funding one can start a topic.      Pity the title did not also mention restricting the rights of the parents who support their children.  Perhaps that is only important if a child tries to speak to a teacher about gender issues.  Then, suddenly, parental rights become important.   Hugs,   Charlize

WEARINESS When stress from adverse or challenging events in life occur continually, you can find yourself in a state of feeling emotionally worn out and drained. This is called emotional exhaustion. For most people, emotional exhaustion tends to build up slowly over time.

I am glad your schools are flush with excess spending money, but that is not the situation here in CA.  Back in 1978 an Initiative and Referendum law was passed that limited property taxes severely and basically cut funding from Property Taxes to pennies of the amounts needed to even minimally fund school districts.  Even the U.S. Supreme Court which upheld the law on Federal and Constitutional grounds nevertheless wryly commented in its decision that the state electorate had lost its collective mind in enacting the law.  Our schools are funded through the State's General Fund which receives other tax sources for creating the entire state budget. The General Fund and the legislature try to give  adequate funding  to the primary and secondary school districts as well as college districts and other obligations all from the same limited funds. There are also strict limits on assessing property taxes that actually prevent them from paying for other services directly affecting property ownership which is their proper place, and so even property related services come from our General Fund. Your property tax money seems to be ear-marked for schools which is wonderful and I hope they use it according to your thoughts, but as said we have a different problem out here in CA.  I love my state but do recognize its short comings.  Point of information, the tax law that is creating problems came from the same small area of the state as the proposed referendum on Trans Youth.
