Same here! Probably should have specified what my dad was trying to say; The things that make you happy aren't always going to be the same as what makes other people happy, and sometimes those people think it'll make you happy too. It doesn't make them bad people, far from it, but sometimes they don't understand that what works for them won't always work for you.

Example: Having kids made my mom happy and gives her a sense of fulfillment in her life. Which is great, I love existing and she's doing a pretty good job as a parent, but having kids won't make me happy. Same with romantic relationships; I don't really want one, my mom loves being in one with my dad.

You've reminded me of what Gandalf said to Frodo, Ticket. I know Tolkien was talking about war, but really it fits anything that life visits upon us...
