You are right when you tell them what you are they tend to back down and seem fine with it.

Probably wouldn't be a big deal if it hadn't become a political football.

My city has had a trans culture since the 1930s and in the 60s when I was a kid we would see queens here and there.

The whole town knew about them and they were kind of celebrities in a way.

They were part of the city's history.

One was a nurses aide at a local hospital  and people loved him because he was such a giving  person.

As kids we would ride our bikes downtown and hang out or go to the movies and we would see him " Sweet Evening Breeze" is what everyone called him.

He was very nice and always smiling and happy.

His real name was James Herndon and he also was a black man.

Google  "Don't dream it be it" and the article should be there.

I can't seem to link to it right now but its a great read.

One-on-one civility is one thing. Public policy is another. There's an important documentary on Revry titled "Equality U". Just because some people know how to act polite on the surface, when necessary, doesn't mean that it isn't a facade or that they aren't lying to your face just to pretend to be "nice".

Sweet Evening Breeze!

Cool that you were proximate yo this human in your early daze.

Love true stuff like that.

There's a story about a transwoman midwife on the wild west frontier in the 1800s I read and liked.

Going out to meet a new friend for happy hour in a bit and feeling kinda cute! This is the second time I've worn this racerback body con dress and I love it.

or this short guess brand ribbed cotton cocktail dress.....I can't decide. Ladies, any thoughts on which is better for Happy hour at Cooper's Hawk Winery restaurant? The cocktail I can't use a bra so my true size is evident as opposed to a little padding in the maxi dress.

@Bri2020 I agree with Liz. The cocktail dress.

Well going down to the 98░ weather in Ft Collins. So, a dress or skirt is a must. probably my green utility dress. with bare minimal underneath.

Hot here too, and no AC.   I'm wearing absolute minimum-type dress.  (I'll skip the pix)

Wore a bit more for the trip to the store.

Been working outside in this all day. Thank God for a slow day and a stand up fan. I got on jeans and a tee. Nothing pretty today.

Hot and muggy here for last few weeks which is normal for summer so I stay indoors until evening when it cools down.

High neck tank and blue flare jeans today.

I’ve learned to appreciate the struggles women go through finding clothes that fit and the associated cost. So I’m going to be more open about my clothing sizes and where I got them. Maybe it’ll help someone else.
Top is  A New Day brand, XL $8 at Target.

Tanks are easy. I keep running into problems with fitting my shoulders. On the plus side, I look FANTASTIC in a tank.

I was shocked today to discover that I'm an extra-small in workout gloves though. Who knew? I have small hands with long fingers.

Hugs!

@Elizabeth StarI haven't seen you in anything yet that doesn't look great on you.

@Jackie C.I have huge hands. And my right hand is wider than my left by a bit from hitting things a lot when I was younger. The other day I thought to myself at the gas station 'wow, I'm the only gal that can palm a 15 pack' lol.

I will try the cocktail dress next time.  I went maxi, mostly cause I realized I hadn't done the best job shaving. hahaha

The "friend date" as I'm calling it went fantastic.  It was weird because it's the first time I met basically a stranger woman at a bar that wasn't a "real date".  It was all about getting know each other. In the end, we decided we were good friends now and plan to see some live music Friday with her sister and my wife.  I'm so excited to have a completely new friend in my life.  Although- here's a funny part of the story:  When I told her what I did for a living she looked down at my hands- everyone does when you say massage- and her eyes got wide.  She then asks me "did you used to work at #(#& spa a long time ago. (which I did) and she became flabbergasted because I was actually her massage therapist back in 2005/06 as well as her sister's and best friend's.  I probably gave her 6-10 massages! Obviously we both changed a bit from back then! hahahhaha

@Elizabeth StarYou might like blacks and greys but that pink tank looks amazing on you.

Thanks @Bri2020 I’m trying to get into wearing other colors and have no idea what looks good on me.

Have you considered black AND pink? One of my favorite combinations.

Hugs!

I have, I like it too. Was also considering black and turquoise but it depends on current hair color.

The weather is a little cooler today. Perfect for a long skirt.

Top is from Old Navy, L

Skirt is Apt9. It’s a Med but really big. I had to take in the side by 2 inches.

Boots by Journey, 11

Necklace (one-off), hand crafted from reclaimed copper with a Hematite heart pendant.
