Well I finally hit a salon.  It’s not fancy, but I love it.

Your hair looks great @Lenneth! I hate it that my thinning hair means wigs - but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!🥰

Agreed lenneth, your hair look like it frames your face well compared to some of the before pics.  How was your experience?  I LOVE getting my hair cut. The whole growing it out thing for the last couple years has meant only 2 trips a year to the salon though.  I do have one next week.  YEA

Katie- those shoes are adorbs!

Would look great with capris or shorts as well.

For as much hair as I have, there is a noticeable thinning in the back up by the crown. I can mask it with a messy bun or if I style it just right but alas, I started HRT a couple years to late. the FFS helped with the receding temples.  I don't think my hair has continued to thin though.  I've considered whether it's worth it to do a light hair transplant procedure. I benefit from being tall so most people wouldn't notice anyways.

Good morning everyone! I finally came out recently and have started experimenting with more gender affirming looks, like a little bit of makeup (eyeliner, mascara and lip crayon) and women's shirts, etc in public and am really feeling more like my true self. I am calling to make my initial appointment today to establish care with a gender care services MD that will start my journey to transitioning. I still don't know what all I plan to do, but at least I'm taking the first few steps finally. I hope you all have a blessed day! ❤️

Everyone looks lovely as always!  Soooo jealous of your hairline @Lenneth!

Well, I did it, I shaved the mask I've worn for almost 19 years!  I have sooooo much more nose than I remember!!!  Lol

Now: sadly I'm "boy mode" here...  The closet comes at a price.

So today I went to the mall, to the library, to our local Wegmans and a liquor store looking like this. This should have happened yesterday for Trans Day of Visibility. It felt so good just to be me.

Guess I'll pile on @Lennethas well. Love the look. Next Friday I will have my first hairdresser experience. Haven't cut my hair at all in 2 years.

I don't have any pictures of what I'm wearing today, since I'm on day 3 of 4 having to wear non transgender visibility clothing. Depressing, actually.

Well I hope you love it!  And @Elizabeth Star, I took a page from your style book!

It does fame it more!  My stylist did that on purpose and layered the back more.  She did fight to straighten it, but it’s easier to lean into the curls now.  I am much happier!  Thank you!

I literally just threw his together to go visit a friend after work. I stopped at a smoke shop on the way over. As I was walking across the parking lot a random car stopped next to me and woman who was driving said she was obsessed with my outfit.  When I was in the shop the cashier complimented me on my outfit as well. Although I think she may have also been hitting on me.as well. I'm still a little too dense to pick up on these things. Regardless, I got two unsolicited compliments in less then 5 minutes.

We are indeed!  Thanks I needed the reminder.  All I see is NOSE!...  and brow ridge.   I was however, pleasantly surprised by my chin and jaw line, I hadn't realized how much I was shaping my face with the beard.

That was me too.  It was a big deal to me at the time.

Kept some of the hair to burn from time to time when I feel the need.

See?  You got style!   I got some compliments on my boots, but for just "throwing that together" I'd say you've got a gift.  I love the casual "bad girl" look you have going on there too.  Sort of a "Yeah, I'm cool and I know it" vibe.

Shaving mine off was a big step.  I'd had it since I was a teenager.  I'd shaved it from time to time but more just to see what I looked like without it rather than wanting to get rid of it.  As a teen I looked much younger than I am which was a blow to my ego and problematic when trying to attend certain events.  I grew the beard so people saw me as older.  I remember thinking if I was afab, my breasts would have done that without hair being on my face.  But I got so used to it it became a part of the whole "male" persona.  The battle to keep it off while I try to get more permanent solutions is a hard one, but worth it, I feel.  I'm glad you took the step and I'm totally behind you!

heading out to see a sister trio band called "Joseph". I got this crushed wool "moto" jacket the other day when I went to the consignment shop.  Wearing a mock wrap plunging top underneath. I love it when my hair comes out exactly the way I wanted it. That is not always a given with this mane. lol

Spent the day road tripping with my local bestie down the Chesapeake coast to pick up a 20 ft boat trailer with my SUV for him. Wore this outfit plus my cute fleece coat as needed. Got down there and the seller was ultra cool, had some nice questions and we were all talking boats and planes and fun stuff for like an hour. Not uncomfortable at all, even working on the trailer without getting dirty lol.

What blew me away, was when I was driving home with the deal closed and in tow my friend told me the story of the deal. He was talking with the guy a couple days prior and said "just so you know, my mechanic friend is transgender. If that offends you I will be willing to call the deal off with no hard feelings. If it does not bother you, then we will see you saturday." The seller responded, "I appreciate your honesty and of course you both are welcome with me. How's about taking the price from $800 down to $600 because I don't want to have to deal with the rednecks that would be inline for it otherwise."

That made an already fun day even better :)💯

Out at my favorite snack bar in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. The bottles in the back are called, "Keeps." Regular customers--like me!--all have their own bottle. You pour your own drinks, and only pay for the bottle. When I'm lucky, I'm invited to other people's table and can drink from their keep. Actually, that happens a lot. LOL.

I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.

I am reading the Project 2025 document https://www.project2025.org/policy/   This will take some time.  I read the forward and I want to read it again later.   I read some criticism of it outside here and I will be looking for it in the light of what has been posted here and there.  Some of the criticism is bosh.   @MaeBe have you read the actual document?

Abigail, I think we will just leave the other posts where they are, and the discussion can start anew here.  It is possible to do what you ask, but would disrupt the flow of the discussion in the other thread, and would require more work than it's worth.   Carolyn Marie
