Same.  With an extra big, plain, peasant-y top over it.

I don't like having to go out in public when I grow my face out for electro.

That's a mean bad dragon @Elizabeth Star

So Today I worked from home so this is my daily work attire except the wig (since I am follicle challenged) and a bit of makeup. I am still pre everything but hope to be start HRT by the end of Aug or first of Sept.

That's a great look. Practical but feminine.

I've had a quite wonderful day today. I jointly lead a Teams presentation to around 350 people as part of the company Pride Network. It was to explain what being Genderfluid means to me and a sanitised version of my Transgender journey so far. I was quite overwhelmed with the number of positive responses and thanks from those who listened to my story. This was what I was wearing today...

@Niamhthat looks gorgeous.

I had a delivery driver today ask about my shirt... (cats in space on rainbow unicorns) I told him I just grabbed something out of the drawer. He says, 'ha, you got your wife's shirt!', I told him not quite. Thing is, why didn't the fact that I'm in eye makeup give something more away, lol.

Oh I forgot to post it up last night, but my youngest daughter has been begging to do my makeup so she got her chance. Maybe not my style but I loved spending that time with her.

That bottom makeup is maybe not used correctly concealer. She'll learn though. I finished the lining off, and the mascara, after all, I need those eyes working!

If I may be blunt - most people do not "get" Non Binary. Unless you are invested in understanding about gender identity, you probably "get" about Gay/Lesbian. You might even "get" about transgender people who are transitioning to the "opposite sex" but when it comes to anything else it's very rare for others to understand. For example - why do I only want to be a woman some days and not others. People just don't "get" it. That's why I was on the Pride Network call at work today to help people understand that there is a complete spectrum of gender identity.

Love the shirt :) - just trying to work out what skirt or shorts that might go with!

It would have to be a skirt, I don't wear shorts. I don't know why I enjoy dresses and skirts but always hated shorts for boys. Yup, I see how it's confusing. I actually am thinking about doing a podcast for non-binary so that some of our voices can be heard and people can get a little more exposure.

I have done talks and trans seminars and never had any trouble talking with people that don't get it.

Most are inquisitive and have all kinds of questions.

I was in a small rural mountain town in eastern Ky  doing a trans seminar and had one lady ask me at the end.

I think what you are doing helping these trans people is great but as a woman I find it  amazing you know so much about the transgender and want to help spread awareness.

I thanked her for the sweet compliment and told her I know a lot about it because I am one of them.

She stepped back and looked me up and down and said OMG you are kidding me ?  She gave me a huge hug and said honey you are 100% woman.

You are welcome Davie.

I have done a lot seminars and given talks here and there and I enjoyed it.

Not much into it these days because most everyone knows about us.

They are going to think what they want and you will never change their minds anyway.

I think you are right that most people do know about the general concept of being transgender. What many don't understand are the concepts of Non-Binary, Genderfluid and other categories of transgender people who are not intent on presenting as a single gender full time. To be honest it took me a long time to grasp these concepts myself in order to find a label or definition which matched how I believed I was. So I don't expect others to find it easy either.

Link to comment

Niamh Its hard for "vanilla" people to understand not all trans people are the same and that there is such a wide variety.

Not sure I understand all of them myself .

I don't need a label for myself but I realize some trans people feel the need to fit in some category and that is fine.

I used to think that trans meant only mtf or ftm. I am neither of those, but always felt unidentified with my sex assigned at birth. So, having that misunderstanding, I just felt like a defective human because I had no idea others felt as I did. A couple years ago at work, we had a trans woman come to present a program called Transgender 101 during our professional development day. I attended (there were many other sessions one could attend, but Trans 101 had a good turn out), and it was an outstanding presentation by an outstanding presenter, but I don't recall gaining any insight about nonbinary which I find interesting in retrospect. I even had a friend come out to me as trans nonbinary (she later came out as mtf), but I STILL didn't get it. The thing was, I didn't know I "qualified" as trans at all. Again, I resigned myself to trying to live this life feeling like an alien. FINALLY, I reached a breaking point where I had to let go of all the trying desperately to be "normal" because it was causing so much anxiety. For me, learning of the designation "cisgender" made the difference. I thought, "Oh! If I'm not cis, I am trans!" then it starting coming together. In preparation for this next year at work, I've quit committee duties I'd been inundated by for years, and have joined the organization's LGBT+ visibility and education committee. In particular, I'll be serving on the professional development team to help educate others about all things LGBT+. I'm only out to one person at work, who is the chair of this committee. I'd like to be out more, but I'm playing it by ear for now. But, ultimately I'd like to share my experience to maybe preempt the anguish of other enby people, and to increase visibility and teach others what it means and how to be compassionate and respectful.

Here is a story without a picture (I am being bashful). Last week, this is what I wore to choir rehearsal: a colorblock sweatshirt in black, chartreuse and white with black and white colorblock shorts, a olive green and white cap, men's black hiking shoes and a thin gold chain. One of my friends was complementing my look and was stumbling to find the right word: "You are one cool lady...woman?...chick...you are one cool cat!" The whole time she was trying to find the right word, my smile just got bigger and bigger. ?☺️?

Man, I've been waiting for anyone to ask me about any of this and not a single person has. My oldest son, when I came out to him, just asked 'are you a girl?' no... No, I'm just everything. He shrugged and went back to his game. My kids are amazing. I may not be the best dad, but I'm proud of the people my kids are.

You have to love them don't you. Both my children who are adults in there 30s are completely supportive. They asked what they should call me and I said - well it depends - if you see me as a woman then "Niamh", if you see me as a man then "Dad", but if you can't see me either Niamh or Dad will do.

Went uptown today as I often do on weekends.

Had a couple beers and decided to sit on the Courtsquare for a bit before driving home.  There was a guy taking pix of his big ass truck next to one of those little Cooper minis.

I sat on a bench where he had a bag of Cheetos (asked first)

He was just a little younger than me. (mid 60's)

We had a nice talk (mostly me listening).  Guy had 2 pistols on his belt.  He was surprised that I actually knew a bit about motor vehicles.  He told me about all the cars he had built and fights he'd been in as we sat by the Confederate Monument on the Courtsquare.

I admit I was not expecting it.

I was wearing this outfit.  He never mentioned it, but I'm sure he clocked me.

It's been an interesting day.

It's way more important that people accept other people for who they are. If this person was good enough to do that then that's just how it should be.

April, I'm so glad things went well when you came out to your spouse.  So often, things can go sideways.  It's a hurdle we all have to jump at some point.

What an amazing life you've shared with your wife. I can understand the trepidation you had at telling her at that point in your relationship but it certainly saved all of the guilt, the questioning and the secrecy that would have filled your lives had you not.   I'm on the other end of the spectrum having denied and buried my truth for decades and fast approaching 50 years of marriage when the dysphoria and depression finally came to critical mass and I unloaded it all on a New Year's Day morning. As you might imagine, it led to a lot of questions, of questioning everything, of anger and hurt on my wife's part. Guilt, embarrassment, fear...and anything else you can imagine on my part.   Thankfully, our love for each other has always been the foundation of our relationship and, ultimately, we both agreed that staying together was what we both wanted. It was a tough year but, now into the 2d since my coming out, we've hit our stride and are exploring this new norm in our life.   I do so love your blog.

I thought I would try my version of this. Changes in bold.   I am Transgender.  Sometimes it is remote, sometimes close. Sometimes I am euphoric, sometimes depressed. It is something I cannot get away from and cannot welcome enough. I see some things both ways that neither men as men see or women as women see.  I can be gentle and compassionate and hard as nails. I was born with male genitals but a female heart   I have my heart.  Whatever it is. When I look at a female, I wish I looked like her  Depends on the woman.  When I look at a male, I wish I did not look like him   Ditto. I envy female movements, softness, behaviors, appearances, fashion...EVERYTHING Female Depends. Sometimes I get angry at them because women spend time and energy in ways men don't.  It is not necessarily bad.  I could do without the gossip. Not all women gossip.  Excessive focus on fashion is something I find annoying. And expensive. I tolerate all things male out of social obligation...not because I feel like a man or because it makes me happy....but because that's what I was forced to believe was my only choice....beginning in early childhood. Sometimes it is helpful to put on the Iron Man suit and act accordingly.  But I have seen some tough women. When I look at myself in the mirror in only bra and panties...I can see my nude female body...and it makes me smile and feel amazing and warm inside....yet sad because that is not my reality. I could go either way, mostly. Really.  In tests in the last two years technicians have gone really quiet when they see how little body and leg hair I have.  I looked at myself this morning.  Remove a few clues and a girl is standing there. When I look at myself in the mirror in only boxers...I can see my nude male body and it saddens me deeply and makes me feel sick and depressed...and at times...even ashamed....Because this IS my reality. At this point I am not going to do that. In the mood I am in I might break the mirror. My true gender does not influence my sexual interests or preferences...or change who I am....in any form or fashion. Gender identity is in no way connected to anything sexually related on any level.  Not sure I want to make that statement so categorically. Life as a male leaves me with a feeling that something is off...that something is missing...that something is not as it should have been.   Well put. The idea of having to continue living as a male...as someone I am not...for the rest of my life...even if its only part time...causes great sadness and anxiety within myself. I've got priorities beyond this that this must fit into. The idea of living as the girl I am and always have been on a full time basis...regardless of where I am, what I am doing or who I am around...brings me great joy, happiness and a sense of peace within myself.  Would be neat. Looking like and living as a girl makes me smile.   Would be neat.  There are downsides.  Looking like and living as a guy makes me sad.   I have had lots of practice accepting this. I am Transgender....I am a girl

Bob had the night off from teaching kara-tay and they planned to spend a lot of it at Cabaret.   Once in, Taylor waited for her man to park and looked around.  There was a sign "Mary, Paul and Peter LIVE tonight" and, sure enough, three microphones were standing in the open area.  A new hostess came up to her. "Are you alone?" "Oh, no.  He's coming." Taylor was led to a table. Bob was there in a minute and managed to get in there and seat her.  She smiled. "The act will be along in a few minutes. And Congratulations! I am SO EXCITED!!" Taylor responded to his look. "I got promoted." "To what?" "Head of Marketing." "You're kidding." "Nope.  It seems the Board finally woke up to the fact that the China cash cow may come to an end and they need to do something. Did you know that the VPs on up all get over a million dollars in compensation without really doing anything?" "No." "I am supposed to figure out how to re-energize over thirty acres of factory that have laid idle for forty years or more." "Why don't they do it?" She whispered,"the head of production is the son of the previous head of production. He has never produced anything."  She explained that everything was made in China and exported back to the US and sold under different brand names. "How am I going to find someone?" He smiled. "Congratulations. Sounds like a problem.  Hey, today we were talking about problems at our Philly plant.  One, it was built before World War 2. Second the city and state are tightening regulations and the tax structure is adverse.  Third, we get protestors every day, some of whom break into the factory.  People are talking about relocating." "We are forty miles from an interstate." "That is a plus.  Makes it harder for protestors to find us if we moved here." "You are really thinking that?" "I am, right now. I can't speak for the company.  I know there is a rail line." "Spur, actually, with several sidings.  The buildings are in good shape." "Do you have about five acres we could look at? How about if I take some pictures and send them off?" "Great.  And protestors would not be tolerated in Millville.  The factory area once upon a time was the main employer and people are very protective." Two weeks later she was in Philadelphia with Gibson and a few others.  The deal was signed and by end of summer ten acres, with an option on another ten, were being upgraded and equipment was coming in by rail. Not five, but ten.  She got a $20,000 bonus out of the blue.  The company was flush with Chinese cash that they didn't know what to do with. She was developing plans. But back to dinner.  "Did I tell you what they are paying me?" "No." She told him. "That is more than I am making." "You don't sound happy." "It takes some getting used to.  You are Management and Croesus combined." "Yeah. Is this a problem?" "No.  As I said, it takes some getting used to."  The musicians arrived and were introduced: three local teenagers in Peter Paul and Mary clothing and wigs like it was the 60s.  They began singing. "They are good," she said. "They are lip-synching." "They are good at lip-synching." They listened for a while. "Work is going to be intense for a while." "I'll bet." "I won't be able to talk to you about some of it." "I bet." They had a good evening.   The high point for Bob was that she let him put his hand on hers.  The high point for her was Bob did not seem threatened by her now being Management and making more than he did with a Masters. She didn't tell him she was likely to be in on the distribution of money the Chinese sent every year to keep them fat and happy.  But she had to finish up that report, so the evening ended early.  He drove her home, checked her apartment for people and again walked away hearing her lock the door three times.  She didn't say it, but he knew she was going to have a long talk with her therapist as well.   Her therapist was a night owl.

I sit back and think, am I this person? I definitely argue, but with the willingness to alter my opinion if I find that my information is lacking. So, no? I also don't go pointing fingers in faces like a crazed person, usually I am the one to argue with that kind of person; typically because they can't see past emotion and have little concern for actual facts. Sometimes it's sport that I do this (ENTP, baby!), but usually it comes from a place of trying to inform and shift opinion--or at least get them to actually obtain facts or get their facts from objective sources.
