Hi everyone,

I haven't been active in a while. Between college and Covid, my life's been hectic, to say the least. I have some good news, though. After nearly five years of working on my Bachelors Degree (History and Government), I will be graduating in the summer (It would've been spring, but thanks to Covid, I couldn't do an internship last summer). I submitted my application for graduation back in October. I'll be taking my last four real classes in the spring (My college is doing mostly in person and a few hybrid classes. I live in Georgia, so I don't foresee going fully online again.) These four classes are being taught by some of my favorite professors (all of them are in my support group), so I'm looking forward to nice and enjoyable swansong.

I remember when I first joined this forum (back when it was Laura's Playground), I thought that college was just a pipe dream and something I'd never do. However, here I am, several years later, with a 3.7 GPA and many accolades and achievements under my belt. (I haven't made much progress in my transitioning, but it's better to have a a solid home life before going through medical transitioning.) I'm proof that though sometimes things seem impossible, they are still possible.

I do plan on going to grad school. It's looking like I will be double majoring there (My college degree is a dual one- equal parts history and political science), but I've done major work (presented original papers at conferences)  in both fields, and my professors think that this is a good option. I haven't made up my mind where to go. I will apply to a few local (southern/central Georgia) schools, and see which one will give me the biggest grants towards completing my degree. I may end up moving out to complete this degree, but that's a decision I'll make next May or June.

Welcome back, hon!!  It's great to hear from you again, especially with such wonderful news.  Big congratulations to you.  Your story is so very inspirational, and I'm sure the members will take a lot from your example.  I wish you continued success, and I hope you will stick around and post once in a while.  We could use your help with some of the younger guys, of which we have many more than when you left.  Take care.

Early Congrats on the upcoming graduation but congrats on that incredible GPA you’re sporting. You obviously put in the hard work to do so well. Best of luck to you on the rest of your academic career. Hope to see more of you here after things settle down. Of course, if you’re going to grad school, it may be awhile..lol. Thanks for the uplifting report on your recent achievements.

My Best,

Susan R?

Thanks Carolyn. When I'm in school, my online life is practically nonexistent (minus Facebook), but I'll try to log in frequently when the Spring semester starts. I'm on break until January 19th because my college made the semester end before Thanksgiving, and we won't have a spring break, so we'll start a week later than normal.

Susan, thanks for the compliment on my GPA! It's been very hard work, but also very rewarding. I've had many obstacles and issues, but because my professors are very understanding (I have several health problems), I've managed to always do pretty well.

Robin, Gabriel, and Kay, thanks. It's nice to meet y'all, too!

Here is space for discussion on this, since the topic is large and could derail another thread SOMEBODY started.   Could some dear, sweet, kind Moderator pull everything related to this from the Voting for Trump thread and put it here?  I don't know if you can do that; I am the new girl on the block after all (blinks sweetly).

Good morning everyone,   It’s Thursday well as least I took my Thursday Medications as sorted out in my weekly dispensary caddy. Today’s coffee is Folgers Breakfast Blend served HOT, black and strong. My wife and I are going to explore the Western and Southern coasts of Saginaw Bay and hang out in Bay City, MI. today.    @Willowonce @Abigail Genevievepointed out the word usage in your post. I read it and laughed, enjoying the snarky tone of the comment. Since it was spelled correctly I thought maybe you meant for it to read just as you typed it. Then the kinder gentler me thought it would be better if I changed it. I’m not saying I corrected it, I just changed the severity of the sentence.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Things are moving quickly now that I have my drivers license and social security card in my new name. It was really affirming when I got my first paycheck in my new name.

Amazingly I have found many cis women are absolutely wrong in their assumptions about bra fittings. I knew an elderly lady that said, "I have been a C cup since school, I just buy a bigger band size as my breasts grow." This is completely WRONG as the band should always fit snug with they gore firmly against the chest.    One of CNA's came into Torrid and I helped her pick out a new bra. She didn't even understand band size was inches and cups/band combo were based off Victorian shirt sizes.  She said, "how do you know so much?"   We found her proper fitting band size, then found a cup she fit.    How can people that take the vast majority of bra users know so little about them? Seems most cis women just use "try it on" only.

As has been said many times, this is not a black and white issue. Sure.  I get it that a MtF person that has gone through full male puberty and "transitioned" 6 months ago probably has an advantage in some sports.  But these bans affect elementary school kids too. I mean, banning trans women from Darts?  Chess?
