Hello everyone, 

 

In this space I'm going by Rose!  I'm nearly thirty and living in the middle-of-no-where in the US.  I was assigned male at birth and have enjoyed a stable professional career since graduating from grad school a few years ago.  Although I've been struggling with my gender identity for several years, I accepted that I'm non-cis about two years ago.  I feel as if I've failed to take the time to engage in introspection and said failing has been rather painful.  So, instead of languishing in perpetual discomfort and confusion, I'm taking steps to invest in whoever I  truly am *yay!*.

 

So hey! *huff* I'm Rose and I think I'm a woman and I'm trying to figure all that out!

 

I'm hoping to meet some persons of trans experience who can help me ask the right questions to get some kind of resolution in regards to my gender identity.  My gut is telling me that some kind of transition is on the horizon; so I'm hoping there is some opportunity for support on that end as well.  For transparency's sake, I have a therapist and she has encouraged me to seek community supports. Given the lack of any organized LGBTQ+ community in my area and the pandemic, I find myself here!

 

I've read through a number of threads here and see that there are a lot of honest/kind people and helpful moderators.

Nice to meet you @Rosie.. Sounds like your taking all of the necessary steps to figure things out and move to the next chapter on your journey. We are here to help in any way we can. We do try to be helpful and supportive but also honest about the trials and tribulations with any transition. I hope to see you around and read more about your progress if you so desire to move forward in that regard. Thank you for sharing.

Welcome Rosie.  I'm glad you found us.  In my experience your therapist is correct.  My time here was helpful at accepting myself.  There was and continues to be something wonderful about sharing my journey and reading about others.  We are not alone!

If you are looking for Community, then you have found a great place here in the Forum.  It has helped me immensely and has been a critical part of my progress over the last 6 months or so.  Until coming here I was just kind of spinning my wheels for the last 4 or 5 years.

 

Everybody here has different experiences and timelines, and a lot to share.  Its great you have a supportive therapist and a place you can safely explore your self identity and self acceptance.  Hope to hear more from you❣️
