Hey, folks, can we return this thread back to the original topic?  Don't want to see this one get too far "into the cornfield," if you get my drift.  Thanks

I was thinking the original Twilight Zone episode "It's A Good Life" with Billy Mumy. I was not very old when I saw it, but we were in the house I grew up in so I must have been in the 4-6 age range. I think it was on at 2-2:30 (I think, it might have been earlier) here before cartoons came on.

When I was older, the remake in the Twilight Zone (1983) movie... for some reason the rabbit scared the crap out of me. That thing was creepy. Between the design and the jump scare, it left a mark.

Sadly, content quality was never a concern. Honestly feels like 80s and 90s cartoon villains took over the show and there be no heroes.

To be fair, most 80's and 90's cartoon villains were self-defeating. Their house of cards would have fallen down around them with or without the heroes. Real-life villains are both less entertaining and harder to get rid of. I could almost deal with the evil if they also had the funny voices and the tendency to monologue. I mean monologue in an entertaining way of course. I'm thinking more Cobra Commander Rant and less State of the Union Address.

Hugs!

I think Trump and his friends are self defeating and sound funny, only reason I'm not laughing or entertained is cuz it's happening in reality and passed the half hour mark, they on far too Iong.

I'm mean leave it to Trump to rant about how voting is a fraud, then saying after "vote for me"... Then pressed republicans who won their seats through those votes to cry fraud, even though they won those seats in that same election...

Oh also can't forget his ranting about how rich he is after going bankrupt over 6 times, all while swimming in debt cuz he doesn't pay his bills. But still scored millions in loans from the same bank he owed more money to,  and they gave him the money anyway cuz "he's too big to fail" also cuz it makes them look bad.

The Republicans worship him and he casually throws each one of them under the bus.

How many underlings did Trump fire while in office? But he always picks the best.

Republicans wanted only $600, he goes behind them and sez $2000 and goes away on vacation. He doesn't even have to raise a pen, while they be left to stew in their pants as he takes air force one to his club house mansion in Florida.

Saying it out, it makes you blink from the brain trying to process the astonishing insanity, feels so unreal. I wish it wasn't real, but no wishes for me.

Of course they did. Trump is punishing them. He spit out a number he knew they'd never go for then went on vacation.

Sure, but if they gave us COVID aid, that's admitting that the virus is real and dangerous. They've been bleating the opposite since March. Besides, COVID aid doesn't help their (wealthy) donors directly (i.e. just giving them money instead of letting it filter up through the working class) so it's a non-starter. Because socialism. Or something.

They already gave us one check and now hesitate cuz they're scared they already admitted to the assist in a mass murder by a deadly pathogen, while relying on herd immunity to weed out the weaker subjects so long as they vote/don't vote. But there be too many -isms on the dance floor. All these diverse political beliefs gets so confusing, even though you could just look up them up, but too much work. Just lump them all into 2 simple identities, then scream freedom like a raging bald eagle on too much T?

what can go wrong....

Covid can't catch you if you pull yourself up by the boot straps off a cliff or just bleach it and take the express trip to the maker just remember vote/don't vote. Not like you can simply just cover your face for a short period of time and stay at home if you are luckily enough to have got one... possibly get better and not spread your essense everywhere but nahhh... freedom screaming raging bald eagle on T...

Raging happens a lot on T. Nasty stuff. I'm glad I managed to quit.

That is a big problem with our system though. Only two choices. The founding fathers were against political parties for a good reason. I'd much prefer a system like... well, the rest of the developed world and ranked voting. Maybe we could have an actual choice and an actual voice.

Lol, liked the rhyme ending. We should have more choices. Granted political party diversity in India is insane, but why can't we have more choices if it's all about...freedom screaming raging bald eagle. More gender options would be nice also... But for some reason, there's a weird fixation of reducing everything to 2 dueling oppositing forces. It maddening.

It does seem like it would be good to have more than 2 viable parties

And a wider spectrum of choices besides Capitalist Center-Right and Capitalist Far-Right. Choosing the lesser evil isn't really a choice at all.

Was there a point to him waiting a week . . .

Yes he signed a REDLINED bill with many desired changes which means today Congress has again vote to approve it otherwise it's DEAD.

A genius move. Basically he made a bunch of proposed changes (get rid of foreign junk, increase to $2000 per person etc) to the bill and signed that version. If Congress wants to pass the bill they have to accept the changes.

Otherwise, congress has to reject the changes, in which case they will be the ones holding it up. Basically putting the ball back into their court

Does this mean it's actually not passed?

lol Get over it . . . "it's actually not passed"!

Maybe I'm kinda dense, but

A) the bill is passed with 45's revisions?

B) the bill is not passed because of 45's revisions?

The president signed the bill that was passed by both houses of Congress.  Nothing changed from that bill.  We will get $600/person stimulus checks.  He doesn't have the right to make changes on his own.  He's asked Congress to give him another military appropriations bill with changes (he vetoed the first one), but that's not his call, and McConnell hasn't signaled that he'll approve any such thing.  Meanwhile, the House will vote on a proposal for $2000 checks, which McConnell will also certainly ignore.

Makes perfect sense, right?  ?  ?  ?

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums @violet r   I think we all were scared with our first post here on TPF. I hope you come to find this site as welcoming as an old friend. Not knowing the type of retail you're in, it is hard to know how they will react to your coming out. I would hope that if it's part of a larger corporation they may have corporate policies supporting/protecting you once you decide to come out publicly. No one here will rush you, or try to slow you down, once you've decided to come out. Some of us are secret sisters, and others of us are as flamboyant as they come. The cool this is you get to choose. You be you.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Welcome aboard, Violet. What a pretty name!   You are among friends here. We are all on a journey, with things in common despite our individual uniqueness. I hope that makes sense!

Welcome Violet.  It's been awhile since i found this space with so many who understand the struggle to simply be ourselves in a society that often disapproves,  It isn't an easy path but being together we can share all the bumps and the joys. You are not alone.   Hugs,   Charlize

I'm sorry it didn't work out for the new job. Nothing to keep you from being on the search. I had a coworker who used to walk out of the locker room saying; "I was looking for a job with I found this one and I'll keep searching for the next one. Never let them think you're comfortable and settled."   The coffee has just finished brewing, and we have a HVAC technician coming in about 30 minutes to do an annual system check.   It's time to get out of my Pj's.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Sally Stone, I have enjoyed reading this thread immensely. There certainly are some things in it that I can relate to, particularly when you wrote that "I wasn’t a man trapped in a woman’s body." This simple statement confirmed two things for me; I am not an imposter here, and I could end up much further along the path than what I imagine now.   I very much look forward to your future posts here.   I hope that by posing this question I'm not committing you to spoil future posts, but can I ask, why you have settled on Bigender as a label? I keep changing my label and have no idea what it might be tomorrow or next week or next month!

This whole Cass Review thing is breaking my heart. I keep imagining how it must be to be a trans kid in the UK atm. I am halfway through reading the review so that I can effectively refute it if and when people cite it here in Australia.

One thing I took on board from a former boss who was an absolute gentleman and fluent conversationalist but a hopeless leader because he was the classic yes man to his superiors, was to take the emotion out of the equation when arguing. Don't use hyperbole. Don't exaggerate. Stick to what you know and defeat your adversary with logic. Of course, your adversary will double down and make an even bigger fool of themselves, and not even realize that they have lost the argument, nor will they realize that people are laughing at them and not with them. It also helps if you can separate them from their minions.   A conservative elderly uncle, who left school at the age of 12, swears black and blue that taking Ivermectin (sheep dip) prevents Covid because he knew someone who knew someone else who took it and despite that person being momentarily in close contact with people who had Covid, didn't come down with it. "Well, you're the one with the science degree!" I said.   A lot of people argue out of ignorance. They base their points on populism and rumor. I rarely argue, but when I do, it is in an attempt to push back. Another favorite saying that I use is "Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools and believed by idiots." I then ask, "Which two are you?" 😉

Good morning, all!!! Cloudy today with some light rain coming. Not a day to work outside.   I will vacuum the house and the head out to our local hardware store after I get cleaned up. Time to buy a new bird feeder for the back porch.   I'm sorry the job didn't work @KymmieL! Hang in there.   It sounds like a busy time for you at work @Willow. Finding reliable people is so hard these days.   Time for another cup of coffee before I start cleaning!!   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
